Very nice game! I agree with the other comments that the theme of the game jam could be supported a bit more, but I understand the lack of time. It would be so awesome to explore the big robot, not knowing from the beginning what it actually is!

I liked the puzzles as well, though they seemed to be a little simple :) Maybe you can add new types of puzzles or make them more difficult further in the game,

Good job!

Yeah we were thinking the same thing about the level design. Some more forethought into construction might have been able to capture that feeling better. We also did some initial work on different puzzle types, but the cruel hands of time come for all game jammers and we couldn't get them into the game in time to submit.

this does not feel like it is following the prompt and saying you are in a big robot does not count.

Nice overall game! Mechanics feel smooth, love the music and sound effects, and the overall feel is very well done!

Wish the theme had been incorporated a bit more but the story was cute and I like the art at the end.

I really loved the puzzles in this game; they tickled my brain just right without feeling stressful! Some of the best design I've run into this jam IMO, and they're balanced perfectly. The background art was also beautiful. I do think that the platformer/jumping side of things could have been fine-tuned a bit more, and it was a little unclear to me how well connected the game was to the theme, but I really enjoyed this game overall!

Glad you enjoyed! The platformer aspects are definitely going to get multiple passes once the jam is over. Most of the levels were developed in the last few hours, so a lot of the jumps are tighter than we probably want them to be. Our theme connection was more narrative than mechanical this year with the little robot rebuilding (or more reconnecting the wiring of) the larger scale robot. We intended to have more puzzle types (hydraulic pipes, etc.) and narrative to make that clearer, but game jams. Hoping to get all that and more in when we come back to this after all the voting is done. Praise has been passed on to the puzzle designer and artists. Thanks for playing!

Well executed game! Definitely didn't feel the theme was integrated as strongly as it could have been. Maybe some little dialogue blips to clue you into the fact that you're inside a giant robot would be helpful.

The original plan was to make the level design be more emblematic of the insides of a robot. Have big columns stretching down that you need to navigate (the legs), etc. Then some gradual hints with a big reveal at the end! But game jams and scope... aren't the best of friends. Hopefully when we come back around to revisit this we can tighten up the theme integration. Thanks for playing!

WOW this was super fun. The movement initially felt a little too fast for me, but after like 45 seconds I got the hang of it and it was natural. I loooved the little meta bits in the signs, as well as the story elements. I could definitely see this becoming a full-length game that I would buy on Switch or something! Solid work

Also, despite all the disclaimers on the game page, I had no issues playing in-browser on mac, but I really appreciate the consideration for mac players!

Developer

Thanks for the review! We've had issues with mac web builds in Godot 4.2 that I think got fixed for 4.3. As a mac user myself I always try to make it a point to ensure we can actually play the game lol.

Very fun and silly! I felt like the tooltips tended to point out the obvious, but it was nice to see little hints of narrative built into them. Satisfying ending! I much preferred the puzzling to the platforming, but that might be because I play like an IGN reviewer in the Cuphead tutorial. Definitely enjoyed the aesthetics too, an uncommon colour palette that really worked for this experience :)

Glad you enjoyed! One of the things we're considering adding post-jam is context based tooltips. Like not telling the player about WASD or space to jump if they just do that out of habit. We definitely tended toward over-informing to make sure as many people as possible could make it through. The level design was the last thing we focused on, so there's definitely some balancing and cleaning up we can do there. Glad you stuck with it all the way through to the end despite that. Thanks for playing!

First game i've been able to complete! Felt the theme of the jam wasn't super included, over a REALLY fun game overall!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed and were able to complete it! We decided to go with a more narrative approach to the theme, where the robot character is rebuilding the larger scale robot. Thanks for playing!
