This game is very cool. The fact that it runs on the GBA alone is amazing. I recently began learning GBA development so this was nice to see. Good game!

:D

Developer

Thanks for playing! Have fun going down the rabbit hole that is GBA development. And may the interrupts not cause too much pain. ;)

Love the cover art

Enjoyment 3/5 Game immediately starts moving, no tutorial. The controls are also awkward, there's a ton of different keys that do different things but they're all crammed together. You could've give the blocks keys closer to the left hand and the character keys closer to the right hand. I didn't really want to play this after I tried it.

Creativity: 2/5 Literally just tetris with a charcter on the blocks. And you say that the goal is to "scale" your tower, but that's not what tetris is about. Tetris is the opposite: you need to make sure your tower never gets too high by clearing the screen.

Style: 4/5 This game looks very good and very polished. I can tell you spent a lot of time making the game look good.

I'll be checking your game out next jam

The game wanted me to play it, I was interested and wanted to play it, but the controls where not ok with me playing it, event after a remapping of the keys...

Sorry, I can't really judge your game past the initial feeling... But the feeling is sort of good, while frustrating, like when you see a nice scenery from afar, want to visit it further but it's out of reach.

Developer

Both from me playing during development and some playtests I know that this takes some getting used to until it clicks. So the fact that it is not for everyone is perfectly understandable. But thanks for giving it a go either way :)

Cool pixel art style. Interesting gameplay. Really nice take on the theme!

I was actually really interesting in doing something similar for the jam! I'm glad other people explored the idea! I did find the controls to be difficult, but overall enjoyable!

Very interesting concept to consider platformer and tetris movement at the same time!   I found the controls a bit unintuitive at first, but getting some progress ends up being quite fun.  Nicely done!

Interesting game. Now I thought you overstated the issues of touch controls, and yeah, they SUCK. Not even sure how they work, as far as I can tell the buttons are located anywhere, but where I would expect them to be.

Developer

The touch controls are literally just an invisible mapping for the buttons and the layout is just the generic default from my engine. I simply could not think of any sensible way of making this game work with touch using the system I have, so I just left it as is. I do wish that uploading an apk didn't cause such a strong implication of working touch support (which I don't have marked the game with), but alas, it seems to.

Yeah, you just marking that the game CAN be played on Android did mean anyone who couldn't try atm any other way, had no real choice (Maybe other than to wait). This was my case, I was in metro, and it wouldn't matter if everywhere on that page it said touch controls sucked. I had no real choice.

The only thing that didn't seem very pleasant to me was the initial controls, but the very idea of mixing platformer and tetris is very good

Submitted(+1)

Well, outside of the fact I played on Android with touch (you said not to do this) it's a cool game!

A fun little spin on tetris style gameplay. Good work!

I would have never imagine a combination of tetris and platformer. Nicely done

Submitted(+1)

You have managed to combine tetris and platforming really well, but the initial keymappings are really dificult, I'm glad there is a way to change them. Nice pixel art and overall fun game, good job!

The concept and the execution is really good! The only downside are the intial keymappings but you can change those if you want to. Very creative, nice soundtrack and well made pixel art!
Keep it going!

The initial keymappings were jank to me but after changing it and a couple tries I got the hang of it 👍
