This game looks good, but I think this should be played with a mouse instead. Good job!
Thank you for playing! Using a mouse, so the chef would follow the mouse and spread the ingredients that way? I think that would play too similarly to 'Good Pizza, Great Pizza' for my liking and it would make the game a lot easier than I want. I also feel that having to use the arrow keys help sell that you're creating a huge pizza but that's me personally.
I make-a da pizza! (I had a fun time, the little guy running around spreading millions of pepperonis is just a great image. If only there was some kind of emoji... oh yes *chefs kiss*)
I like the idea of making a big pizza. Some ideas that I think might improve the feel of the game is to make it easier to go in circular motions. When I make pizzas in real life I put a bunch of sauce in the center and then spread it out, then I grab a large handful of cheese and sprinkle it over slowly going over the pizza multiple times, and then with toppings I plop them down. So I’m thinking making the game feel more like that could help in some of the repetitiveness. It might also help to add some variety like 50% toppings or extra cheese! Despite all this, I had fun and didn’t want to stop playing.
Thank you for playing! Making the gameplay more closely mirror actual pizza making would definitely be interesting, I would just have to figure out how the mechanics behave that way. As for the additional variety for the pizzas, that was my original plan but I ran out of time.
really fun! i feel like the radius for placing toppings should have been a bit bigger, and the music got pretty repetitive, but overall great concept and great game!
Absolutely looooove the concept. Normal guy, giant pizza. Amazing.
That said, I don't think the lack of topping variety was the main contributor to the repetitiveness like many are saying. I think it was that it's actually rooted in the fact that you have too much control over it all.
The best strategy ended up being going left and right and slowly making your way to the top, over and over and over. And if there's a better strategy, then you're just gonna do that over and over.
I think it would help if the character has less predictable movement, or you have to jump around randomly placed obstacles, or every topping has a different way to be put on, or there are enemies you have to chase away, or there are power-ups that are running away from you.
Still, it's way easier to find flaws in something rather than actually putting in the effort to make it, so don't let me bring you down! I look up to and applaud anyone who submits a jam game! GO! YOU!
Thank you for playing and sharing your thoughts! That was my original intent, for players to try and find the best solution and optimize the creation of pizzas to make the most money in the short timeframe. Given that, randomly placed obstacles would have run antithesis to that design. The idea of power ups or different toppings requiring different placements do have some potential though. Food for thought, so to speak.
cool game, simple idea, art is a bit harsh on the eyes, but overall good!
Thank you for playing! Out of curiosity, what about the art is harsh on the eyes? I'm not super pleased with how the art turned out, mostly due to running out of time and the palette I chose being a bit of a bad choice for what I was going for.
It's a little harsh, I mean, like when you add something to a pizza, there's a lot of little sprites. But the choice of colors is good! In any case, I don’t belittle your work in any way, because creating games is not only about the picture, but also about the mechanics and the idea, which you did very well!
I didn't take it as belittling at all! I agree, all of the sprites placed on top of each other over and over definitely could be overwhelming and was considering changing those sprites but just didn't have time.
This was an enjoyable game well done. I can see that it would possibly get repetative after some time but different toppings etc would definitely make this really interesting. I understand needng to end the game as a certain point bu it is a shame I couldn't play on to get all the upgrades. I really enjoyed what I played and I also did't find any frustration with the % of topping coverage at any point. I know it can often be frustrating to geet the last percentages of things with mechanics like that but I didn't think your game was beeing fussy with this at all and allowed for some amount of impresice play. Well done
Thank you for playing and providing quite the writeup! I definitely could have allowed the game to loop endlessly and allowed players to get all of the unlocks. I mostly limited it to 5 days to try and be considerate of the time of the players I knew would be playing lots of games to provide ratings. I'm glad to hear the mechanics worked well and there wasn't any frustration with covering the pizzas.
Very cool ideia, lovely gameplay!
Nice interpretation of the theme. I do wish there was some more game variance though.
That certainly was a big pizza! Love the idea, would be interested to see it expanded with more foods, and maybe you need to make them more accurate (this one wants pepperoni on half for ex). Great job
Thank you for playing! My original plan was to have more toppings to select from and you had to make the correct pizza but I ran out of time and had to cut that.
I liked this game, it reminded me of a Mario part mini game!
quite enjoyable and cute but it gets repetetive after a while
Thank you for playing! That's super valid. I was hoping to add some additional toppings to mix up which type of pizza you had to make but ran out of time.
