The gameplay idea is simple and fun. I also like the idea with the story telling, but it's a bit difficult to hear most of the dialog. Overall a pretty well made and fun little jam game.

10/10 Sand Land has enlightened me.

(Really funny and cool game though, my only critique would be to add in-air wasd movement to make the platforming a bit more forgiving, Good Stuff!)

Developer(+1)

Hey thank you! I'm glad you went the sand land route. I'm actually currently working on an updated version that does have air strafing and overhauled platforming feel, it was definitely a huge issue. I'll let you know when the update drops because it's been a huge positive change so far

Portal vibes are sick. Nice job.

Developer

Outside of getting the game working a lot of my time was spent on just getting the feel down, should've spent more time on the puzzles but oh well... thank you for playing!

You went all in on this one ! It's actually crazy to pull off a game like this in 96h, i'm quite impressed !

Developer(+1)

Yeah I did! barely slept to get it all done... thank you for the kind words

Very ambitious for a game jam, and manages to deliver pretty well. I am impressed!

Developer

Thank you! and yeah it was definitely too ambitious for a game jam... lesson learnt!

A very effective experience! The assumed choice to inspire the narrative from Aperture Science gives a nice identity to your submission!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! your game has a great identity as well, I'd been trying to play it the last couple days but it wouldn't load until just earlier

Submitted(+1)

Ahah that's weird! Didn't udpdate it since the 1st upload, so that's probably a Godot 'magical' feature I still don't master, my bad! 🤣

Submitted(+1)

WOW, this is really good, i enjoyed the entire game!

Developer

Thank you! btw can't replicate the camera issue but I also had a dream about your game last night, so please consider expanding it bc it must have stuck with me quite a bit!

Developer

PS for level 1, the button after the platforming requires some slight backtracking, so do some others.

I was so excited to play the games, the intro scene is really cool, and the vibe is just right. The voice acting is really nice (especially for a game jam project) as well, and the music choice is apt. I was a bit bummed to have to do parkour though, I did 3 times on it, which was a bit of a mood killer. Additionally, I got softlocked in level 1 at the third button, and my laptop overheated (unreal moment), requiring a full restart of my PC. I tried playing again, but the same softlock happened. (At least I think it is a softlock, as nothing happened when I pressed the button).

For a first jam this is really well done though. I'm genuinely impressed, and its such a shame I cannot play the other 4 trials (and see how you used this mechanic).

Developer

I'm sorry about the overheating lmao, I tried lowering the graphics as low as I could to keep the look whilst also not having the time to add settings, Which will be a priority later on. PS. the platforming section button opens a door behind you, just takes a little backtracking. (and sorry about the restarts lol... I didn't have time to do checkpoints)

Developer

If you fall and don't die in Level 1, Just go to main menu and retry.

There are some other audio and additional bugs/softlocks, let me know what they are as they come, this is my first gamejam and I went a little overambitious.

I hoped to include a level select and fix the menu's but saving was giving me issues and I ran out of time, and there was just a general lack of testing on my behalf unfortunately, but I had a lot of fun and I learnt a great deal through this process, mostly regarding level scripting.

I submitted this with about 10 minutes to spare, and it was not nearly as great as I had hoped. I do hope however that you all enjoy playing T.L. BETA, and I want to know what endings you choose (if you can even  get to the end)
