It works really well, strong gameplay, strong graphics and cool sound design. The only downside I could see is that the connection to the theme is a bit loose, but I’m really nitpicking.
Clever, very polished puzzle game.
This game is really good! The idea is phenomenal and the execution is awesome! The art and animations are really pleasing too
Great overall game. I'm really amazed that it is a solo-game, the pixel art is great, the music fits very well and the twist on the theme feels great :)
Great presentation, interesting idea, challenging puzzles. Loved it!
A fun brain teaser, and a very polished game!
Very well made and polished puzzle game. Great presentation. The animations are funny and cute!
I finally got around to playing it :)
* Excellent puzzle game. Solid brain teaser, beautifully presented
* Music, art, UI, and tutorials are firing on all cylinders
* The game length felt perfect for the game jam. 10 excellently presented puzzles.
* I did get caught up on level 3, I didn't realize I could "unflick" a switch. I skipped to level four and realized I missed a critical part, so had to go back. There could be room for a clearer explanation there.
* I got confused (and am still confused) on if the "forward" tiles consume a movement or not, I ended up just using trial and error to get past them
* I think the theme was greatly justified by just using the dice as movement. I echo other sentiment that "Rolling" to choose your movement just hurts the presentation. I know, you've heard it a few hundred times already, its pretty low hanging fruit :)
I'm sure you've already got a ton of creative ideas for future puzzles, but here's the few that jumped to my mind:
* Portals, where you teleport between tiles (bonus points for levels that require the use of the same portal a specific number of times to burn through your dice pool!)
* Launch pads, where you can skip a tile in a certain direction but block on the other direction (or skip on both directions :) )
* Mechanic that lets you "Recover" a dice (i.e. a tile that gives you an extra "1" movement dice)
Top marks all around. This is solid work, and I think you're firmly justified at your placement. Kudos and good job!
thanks so much for the detailed feedback! All valid criticism and I love the expansion ideas!
As if you need more ratings…
The theme feels pretty loosely applied. I can see how it inspired your game, but I think the dice system really hurt the overall experience. I would love to see this developed into a full game without the annoying “roll the next number” mechanic. Could be interesting to see what happens if you give the player different sets of numbers in each level.
hey thanks for the play! I totally agree that the “rolling” to switch the number is annoying, which is a bit frustrating cause dice actually are really important to the idea. Originally I was planning for the ability to switch between a d4 and d6 mid level and some unique dice faces but ran out of time. Hopefully if I continue the game these things will come back! :D
Fun game! Clean, nice art and controls.
The roll the dice mechanic felt a bit forced and didn't had much to the game to me.
Compared to similar games I found in this game jam, this one has better art and more creative game mechanics. Well done!
The animation of the frog thingy getting slushed down the drain is definately the cherry on top! :D
Good looking game !
Great game, the puzzles are really challenging and the dice just makes the movement feel very stiff and decisive, well done!
Awsome game
Nice game, good graphics and gameplay
Everything seemed very well polished! Simple style, but effective. Although the puzzles are well thought out, it simply comes down to rolling until you get the number you need for your next move. Overall though, great job, and with time to spare!
I like the simplistic art style, and the music fits it quite well. The concept is easy to understand but it results in some interesting puzzles.
I'd rather prefer to select the number I need without the reroll though, it would be more convenient. But yeah, even if the theme has inspired this kind of movement mechanics, having no "dice roll" might make the connection less clear for some people.
Overall, the game seems to be very polished, and I see how it can be expanded further into a full-blown version should you decide so. Splendid!
Great puzzle game!
What I liked?
- Good usage of the theme, where each dice face is important to resolve the level, clever!
- The art style is a great looking pixel art
- It felt satisfying to resolve the trickiest puzzles!
Other comments:
- The dice result gave me the feeling of just switching between numbers chronogically, so I think that it misses the randomness of a dice, in order to get the feeling of throwing a dice.
Overall good job!
I loved this game's effects and sounds. Good job!
by the way if you want to play and rate my game welcome!
