This is the best game that uses the idea of "role to change weapons". The best difference is that you really control the process by setting up the dice time. I didn't like a few abilities (such as shield and bomb), but overall it was a pleasant experience. Spent like 20 mins just destroying enemies +)

The visuals are just great! I love dice animation a lot, so clean!

The one thing I would implement is a progress bar that would show how many enemies you should kill until "boss fight" and implement the boss fight itself. I know it's a lot, but I feel like it would be a great addition to this kind of game.

Overall it's just a great game! And thank you that you let me kill some dice... I truly hate them after this jam +)

A very cool concept, choose the dice face as you level up, then roll for the power up.
Playing this reminds me of the flash games era, short but really fun.
Congrats on finishing the jam !

I loved this idea, and the game's polish level was super high!

I might suggest turning up the movement speed just a tad. Great work!

I love the visuals of this game. The player Die's animations were really charming.

I love how you organized the deckbuilding mechanic like it is an unwraped D6. That was much better looking than my UI for a similar mechanic.

It might just be a personal thing, but I felt like some of the weapons attacked too slow.

Probably the best jam game I played so far

Really loved the concept! The idea to roll your powers by doing a dodge roll was a great idea and has a strong gameplay loop. The game also looks beautiful with great aesthetics and the music really supports it. Would love to see a few more options for your powers and in the how to play being a bit clearer on the mechanics but this has been one of my favorite games of the jam!

The game looks absolutely beautiful, I liked having so many powers to choose from - my favorites were the bomb and homing weapon. Had a great time playing it, awesome stuff!

I did really like the game. I think it would be even superior if I was able to use for example a controller. Due to the nature of the jam though, I find this controller scheme understandable. Graphics are superb and so is the presentation, good job!

Game is actually fun and addictive. I like it when jam games keep your interest and make you play them through. Loved your approach on the theme. Placing buffs on your dice is pretty neat concept. Visuals are fantastic and audio design is good.

Few minor downsides are:

Absence of pathfinding, enemies get stuck in the walls. Also, spawnrate doesn't increase overtime. So you're often wondering around searching someone to fight

But overall you did a good job, congrats finishing that in 50 hrs!

Really nice take on the top down shooter! I liked the powers a lot, and you made the melee attacks not pale in comparison to ranged weapons. Sometimes I had the enemy shot go behind the sword, so I didn't see he shot me when I was drawing closer to him. Also, I did not understand at first the level up screen, I thought I had to build the die there, so I kept on clicking things and nothing changed. But once it started I understood the idea of that screen.

Learning to dodge at the right time proved to be quite challenging at first, but I quickly got better at it and had a blast. I really like how you forced the player to try different weapons by limiting the amount of bullets.

Simple concept but extremely well made. I'm in love with the animations.

nice game! simple and fun!

That's a very solid top down shooter you have here, with loads of content ! And I really like the dash/reload/randomize mechanic, it's a pretty creative take on the theme. I'd prefer to have it a bit more fast paced but that's just a matter of taste I suppose. Well done !

I was a bit picky in stream about the game (https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1537297068?t=1h22m5s) but it was because the game is already really really well made that it's fun to find the little pieces missing!

A nice number of weapons and enemies already, and a really nice atmosphere (that little dice guy <3).

It's already nicely polished for a game jame gam, well done!

Beautiful game, super fun to play. This would be fun if expanded to become some kind of adventure.

I would make player faster, but that might be just me. I prefer fast movement combined with aggressive enemies. I also think button feedback has bugged/ it is not properly implemented. Took me while to understand how ability menu worked.

Otherwise it is solid entry, it works, it has variety, it has cute style. Better than average.

Great job! This is a lot of fun and all the powers and enemies felt distinguished. The art was great too, it looks very polished

Really fun game and very creative idea! I also really like that when bomb enemies explode, it kills other enemies as well, so it feels really good to knock a bomb into a group of enemies with an ability that has high knockback, especially because it is pretty difficult. Also loved how later in the game, you have to balance using your dodge rolls and using the current abilty in the best way!

This is my favorite take on the "Your powers are determined by the dice" spin on the game jam! Incredibly well done!

The art/music/sound/animations work all comes together brilliantly, the core game loop was very enjoyable. My favorite touch of detail is the sound indicating I am "out of ammo", which never particularly felt frustrating. Very much reminds me of "Enter the Gungeon" in that way. Second favorite -- when I wielded a sword the ranged enemies started to run away. Exceptionally cute.

My critique is I wish it was more difficult, with a few more bosses. I think one spawned, but I killed it very easily (large mad hatter?).

Solid, excellent, addition to the jam!

Developer (1 edit)

I have played Enter the Gungeon so I took some inspiration when programming parts of the game.

Regarding the magic hats, they are not bosses really, they just sit around and spawn other types of enemies. The balancing was done during the last hour or so, and maybe the hats turned out too easy indeed.

Thanks for playing!

Looks amazing. It was a little rough around the edges, but the art and general style were enough to make up for it.

A few tweaks to the UX and this could be amazing!
