Nice little game, I managed to beat a couple turns. I think a better RNG would have helped. I was stuck with down arrows for too many turns, and couldn't fight back any of the enemies above me! The concept is good! Maybe a button to reroll the dice type would have been a nice addition!!!

Developer(+2)

The game is (again) not clear about that, but you can warp from bottom to top and vice-versa with the corresponding arrow

Cool mechanic and great art/music!

Maybe some dice can be buffed since movement and attack ones are a little too powerful than the others in my opinion

Developer

Thank you for your praise !

Funnily enough some enemies are actually a bit more powerful than originally planned due to some bugs emerging features so balancing the dice became tricky.

Excellent presentation, the art and music are great! I really enjoyed the particle effects on movement and couldn't tell if that was pixel art animation or algorithmic animation. Either way, kudos there!

I wish the game was a bit faster paced... having to wait a bit after assigning dice was frustrating. But the combat itself comes together smoothly. The gifs are what ultimately taught me I had to drag the dice onto the character to activate an effect.

Good job!

Thanks for your feedback !

Kudos to our 2 amazing artists that continuously flooded us with amaazing sounds and sprites in this jam !
The movement effect is actually a "dissolution" shader I made in unity shader graph. It didn't turn our as planned (some weird colors) but it was a great asset for movement, death and spawn to feel a bit more dynamic.

Yeah tutorial and pace needed a bit more work !

A fun turn based strategy game. The overall dice mechanic was well made and works well for this game

Developer

Thanks for playing !

Interesting game mechanic! Not sure why are the tiles aligned in a cross shape when hovering over the revealed dice. Also would be nice if the popup shows directly the tooltip of the revealed skill. Found myself playing this game for quite some time, enjoyed it honestly, great job!

Developer(+1)

Hi ! Thanks for playing, I'm glad you had fun. Yes the tooltip is not perfect, you sadly have to wait to see al faces. It's in a cross shape like a cube patron !

Submitted

Ahh that makes sense! Looking forward to see how you're gonna improve the game after the game jam!

pretty good game. quite challenging too

Developer

Thanks for playing ! Did you win a run ?

Submitted

nope. got pretty close one time though.

+ tutorial checkbox
+ fitting style (visual + SFX/theme)
+ all in all a great line defense mechanism

- balancing seems to be a topic. 5 rows, 3 defenders and too little defense possibilities on runtime. too many enemies maybe? we don't know

Developer (4 edits) (+1)

Thanks for the feedback !

The balancing is something that might need a retweak once the jam is over. I firmly believe that having a dice that allow to have a movement everyturn is not a good solution, because it remove a lot of constrain (if you manage your placement correctly, you should be able to fill any lane in any turn since you can warp from top to bottom and vice versa).

On the other hand, having no movement during 4 consecutive turn is a big issue. A nice thing we could implement is forcing the yellow dice to give you a movement if you didn't have a movement on any dice last turn.

Additionnaly, we saw the suggestion to be able to put shield and heal the core. Healing doesn't sound like a good idea but shielding the core is definitely something that I would like to implement

The theme is super creative and the game looks pretty good! Music and animations are great. I wish there were more options for movement; I never seemed to roll the right arrow in time to intercept

Developer

Thank you for your feedback ! TheBlizzard and myself put a lot of love in art and music in attempt to create an atmosphere. The devs seems to have some others feedbacks for this movement issue,  for now this  makes the game challenging for sure ! Thanks for playing

Very cool idea. Was a little confused at the start though.

Developer

Thanks for playing ! Yeah tutorial needed a bit more work !

At first i didn't understand I had to put the result of the dice on an unit, after that, the game was totally clear.

The randomness is controllable enough, you feel you could do better when you do your first run and want to do another (at least, that's what I did, and won my 2nd run :D).

Missing a bit of juicyness/feedbacks, but it's always hard to do everything in 48h, so well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the good feedback and for testing this game on stream !

Cool game! After a few waves i finally got the hang of it and then it was really fun. The audio is great, and it really helps create a cool atmosphere together with the background.

Developer

Thank you very much for playing ! Very happy you had fun :) And thank you also for this nice feedback on audio, I had a really great time creating it !

Very tricky game! The idea of choosing the dice based on chance and then scrambling a strategy depending on your hand is very good! I took some time to understand the mechanics (maybe a feedback when the dice is rolling would be nice) but overall I enjoyed the experience!

Developer(+1)

Feedback and tutorial needed a bit more work indeed !

I'm glad you have fun, thanks for playing !

The idea is really cool ! quite hard to understand at first. When you put your dices, then to assign them to the character. Maybe a lack of feedbacks when they can be selected. And maybe a " vision of futur " to see moves from ennemies or your future direction, even if you cant change it?

Developer

Thanks for your feedback :)

Yes if we had the time a system to indicate spawn of enemies would have been great, a slay the spire indication of attack too !

I really liked the idea and your interpretation of the theme, good game, I like it :D

Developer

Thanks for playing ! :)

This is a nice game with some really good art! My only grievance is putting movement behind chance as this got me in a lot of sticky situations

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yes this is something we may have tweaked if we had play tested a bit earlier. I agree that not being in the right lane is frustrating when u have still dies accessible. A dice dedicated to movement would have been maybe a good choice !

Submitted(+4)

Smart idea to balance out that you can only give randomly chosen orders by forcing you to see which three orders you will be able to give that turn first. It allows the player to make an informed decision of what they will do that turn, once they already know what moves are available to them.

My only frustration was that locking movement behind chance sometimes leaves you in a spot where you can't put your bug in the correct spot and lose without anything you could do about it.

Developer

Thanks for playing this little game !

For the choice on randomness, kudos to the GMTK video on input and output randomness that inspired us to think this way ^^

Yes we should have put maybe a dedicated movement dice, or allow reroll with a sacrifice (mechanic cut for lack of time). Being in the wrong lane for a turn is kinda frustrating !

Hope you had a good time killing bugs !

Submitted(+4)

Yo this is awesome! very well done on all accounts

Developer

Cheers, your comment made the whole team happy !!!

looks amazing and plays great aswell
