I played it maybe more than 15 times and it was entertaining. The only thing that bothered me was that 4 of 5 rolling dice got 1 or 2 (3 times 1 and 1 time 2) in a row and I believed this sequence of wrong lucking should be handled in hidden layers. well done and keep it up.
I don’t think I understand what you mean by handling the randomness in hidden layers. Could you clarify?
let's explain this way, there is not any pure randomness in video games. Devs always manipulate randomness to balance the player's experience. In a very simple situation like this game, a senior game designer always monitors the dice value and didn't let it roll over all possible numbers. for example, if the player encounters 2 values 1 after 2 rollings, for the next round, the game designer removes values 1, 2, or even 3 from possible numbers to let the player receive a big number to balance his experience. it's a very disappointing experience that the player has tried so hard for winning the waves and every time we have given him a very little prize for this. so, we must handle this bad luck sequence and give him a promising prize and the best and simple solution for this is to manipulate possible numbers for dice rolling.
Fun game and good take on theme. I wish firing was with the arrow keys instead of clicking with the mouse. It was a little hard to tell when the enemies were hitting me. Would be interested in seeing this game expanded with more enemy types and mechanics. Music and pixel art went well together. Good job.
Nice game! Love the art style and the game mechanics feel polished awesome job!
Very fun to play! I really like the simple retro artstyle, and the gameplay! Good job!
Good one! I feel like there is a bug in the end. I died and got purple dark filter applied to all screen till the end of next game. Yet, a good mechanics with rolling stats! I love when developers actually let you to design at least something (even if there will be a chance that the result will be small, but it will be what you chose). Well made!
Hmmm. You’re the first one to ever report that bug and I have never seen it. I’ll keep an eye out for that bug but no promises that I’ll be able to find it.
No worries! I think it was related to fullscreen somehow, but that was only once, and when I restart the game it never showed again
Its really fun, but I will say that losing health feels a bit too easy. But I oved the art and idea.
Gameplay and Art are really cool. Love your entry, great job! :)
Cool game, the simple art style works well. A version with more enemy types could be pretty sweet! Good job!
Simple but effective style! I would have liked a HUD for your Damage and Speed as well, so I can truly get the stat-gratification of pumping up my stats. Great job!
Really nice idea, simple but good pixel art.
I think it's missing an indication of damage, whether on the enemies or on ourselves, we don't know when it hits.
But it's still a good and fun game, good work ;)
Nice game! It would be cool to see a long-ranged weapon too though
Thank you! Extra weapons were planned originally, but were scrapped, so new weapons may happen in a post-jam update.
Cute art, simple and smooth. As others have said, it would be nice to have a die for each round where you switch different weapons.
Fellow Dice Duelist!
Great concept! Has a great rogue-like potential to add many features like magic, weapons & classes. Controls are quite smooth.
I can see the health amount and feel the speed increase but one problem I don't know how much damage I deal and how much health enemy has. Beside that, great submission!!
The art is nice! It was hard to damage enemies without getting hit yourself. Good submission though!
Great art style and fun challenge. Good job!
This is an enjoyable game! I liked going through a few runs, but got tired out by lack of variety in upgrades, I would have enjoyed to see perhaps an aoe or range upgrade to the weapon, to make up for the hordes in later rounds.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! As for the upgrade variety, randomized weapons and other things like that were planned, but unfortunately I did not have the time. I will try to add those if I make a post-jam update, though.
