i liked this! the high score method is fun. and the hints actually were helpful - like the one about being able to reach any new number in one rotation made me want to try again. The only thing that kinda stopped me from wanting to keep playing it over and over again was that i found the count down sound effect for the dice is a little grating. That's my only critique though!
Thank you! I'm glad you've found the hints helpful. They were intentionally designed to give important information bit by bit, so the player would try just one more time after gaining a bit more insight, so I guess that worked. As for the sound, I tried to find something more pleasing to the ear, but nothing was also as fitting as the current one. I think you can just mute the tab and the visual effects will work well enough on their own.
it's cool I liked it. my score was 7749.
Thanks for playing! A solid try.
I really loved gameplay and minimalist art.Good job!
Thank you!
if you want to play and rate my game welcome :)
Pretty fun idea, could probably use some more variation but I like how responsive the controls feel!
Thanks! I went down complexity route for a good chunk of the time limit, but had to revert to initial simple idea, since it actually worked much better, at least with the current controls.
Simple but effective, I like the color palette and minimalist approach!
Thanks!
This is a very cool game! And I love how it's a high-score game! Not very many people went that route for this jam, so it's refreshing to see one. Great job!
Thank you! I've seen plenty, actually, it's just most of them are also top-down arena shooters.
I like the minimalist style a lot!
Thank you!
I love the simple art and gameplay!
Thanks!
Nice minimalist implementation, and a fun almost rhythm-like component to it! Gets pretty hard when the tempo speeds up, but I'm sure with some practice I could get some pretty long runs in this. Certainly a unique take on the theme! Also nice to see a fellow Godoter :)
Thank you! It actually came to a point where it feels too easy for me to play, but it's because I had to play it a lot while developing. Yes, Godot is great, especially for these kind of short game jams!
Very slick visuals, good controls and nice idea. One thing I would add is sound when you miss or score a point.
Thank you. That's something I intended to add, coupled with a visual effects, but didn't have time.
Really striking visuals! Snappy controls allow you to rotate the die with ease. The SFX and the visual effects clearly telegraphs everything so you don't have to worry about randomly running out of time. Overall clever design!
Thank you very much!
Really solid game. Visuals are clean. When you get into the flow on a fast combo its great.
Thank you.
Kinda reminds me of that Wii game where you turn your Mii to fit through a hole.
That's cool, can't say I know the game though.
Very elegant game, both aesthetically and gameplay wise! It surely remembers me of good, old arcades. I've particularly enjoyed the fluidity of the dice movement: being this a game about reactions I think it was very important to make feel right and you nailed it. I tried other similar games that were much more fiddly or kinda laggy, while this is much more enjoyable.
Two minor notes of other things I've appreciated:
1) the fact that when you make an error, the time slows down (at least I think it does haha!)
2) the small hints you added. A simple thing, yes, but the "sum of opposite sides = 7" really helped me and was crucial when dice pips were not visible.
Thank you very much for such detailed comment and for playing!
The game indeed slows down after each error, there's also one of the hints about it.
The hint about the sum is actually guaranteed to be the first one you see, since it's integral to the gameplay.
Oh well this confirms that you were aware of the importance of the "sum = 7" rule, good job on the decision to make it clear from the very start!
Fun little game, simple but well made! Well done :)
Thank you!
Really good game. after a while it gets a little difficult for me, but it also enjoyable
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
Neat! Nice and simple. The little tip that said 'each new number is always one turn away' helped boost my score a bit. It gets repetitive after a while, but that's to be expected. I wish it was a little clearer when you failed; it took me a moment to realise what my health was and how I messed up.
Who knew you'd start to intimately get to know every side of a die thanks to this jam :)
Thank you! Very valid critique, I wanted to properly indicate the failure, but didn't have time in the end. Right now the clearest way to tell if you failed is from the timer slowing down.
cool game took me a second to figure the game out
Thanks for taking the time!
Very simple, and incredibly unique. Love the concept, and wonderfully executed. Great Job!
Thank you! I'm very happy you think it's unique!
Wonderful! Easy to understand, enjoyable to play. Made me realize I'm not that good at visualizing positions of numbers on the sides of a die
Thanks! It definitely takes some time to get used to.
