This was really fun! I have to say, that house owner has some speed!
Fun game! Art style felt very polished and I appreciated the rebindable controls. Like others, my biggest gripe was not being able to tell when the Cardinal was nearby enough to spot me. :D
avoid exorcism!
brilliant
Super fun!! That pesky cardinal...
Thanks so much! You learn to love the Cardinal (you do not, it's lies).
Very cute. I kinda wish there were a better indicator of when I was at risk of exorcism but I guess that's the point in making you use some restraint, huh? Had a blast anyway. Good work!
Thanks for playing! I think a more fleshed-out version could definitely have an indicator (maybe some approaching footsteps, similar off-screen creepy sounds) based on your likelihood of getting caught in a given room. That's really useful feedback for if we plan to clean it up some!
Loved the humor and the little animated cut scenes. It's so well done. Nice and original premise too with the haunting theme and everything.
Thanks so much! We really had fun with the Cardinal, in particular :D Thanks for the kind words. Your entry definitely gives us something to aim for in future jams!
That was fun! I had the urge to match the rhythm of the background music to the key pressing on the action prompts, so that might be an interesting direction to take this in :D
Yeah as the developer who did much of the coding, I can say that my musically-inclined counterpart would have vetoed any attempt my rhythm-challenged self made to match those to the music, hah Our original idea involved a rhythm mechanic though, I just opted for "flail at the buttons" instead :D Thanks so much for playing! Hope you enjoyed your shenanigans.
fun little game with an interesting premise.
Thank you thank you!
I had a lot of fun! The art is very cute and well used, the music is fitting and very good as well, fighting the cardinal is very fun and challenging. Good game!
Thanks a lot! Gotta represent those chunky pixel games :D Appreciate you playing!
This reminds me of that flash game called Haunt the House, but with quick-time-event arrows.
This game does have so many texts description. Maybe the fonts are big, so I find it many.
We may have overindexed on readability and made the font size too large, heh. Thanks for the feedback, and thanks for giving it a try!
Very well done.
I could not really figure out what exactly made the bishop try to exorcise me, his appearances seemed a bit random. But it is a good choice to not make that a fail condition but a setback and an event. Makes it possible to work through your mistakes.
And by the way… Who invites a bishop to a party???
Yeah the exorcist logic was a classic case of "it's so intuitive if you wrote the code!" heh. Glad we could at least work around that a bit with the sequencing though! We'll keep the "how to get to the end without triggering an exorcism" tips until the jam's wrapped ;)
In the meantime, we'll continue to investigate who in the heck invites a bishop to a party! O.O
This is probably my favorite game in the jam now. nicely done!
Thank you so much!
No more guests allowed!
It's a fun little game, really well made!
Thanks so much! Dragon Crusade is so much fun as well.
Very polished, though I am not really a personal fan of QTEs.
I am not quite sure of its relation to the jam's theme?
Thanks for the positive feedback, Dallas!
On the theme, we were definitely aiming to be a little more subtle with it. The objective of the game is to clear the house of guests to win, and to do so requires not being too over eager with haunts in a single room at a time (less back to back scaring in one room == more success). Metaphorically, we were aiming for the "too much of a good thing (in this case, fun for the character) can end up badly for you (getting exorcised)." interpretation of the theme.
