Hi, I would like to thank you all for playing my game and all your valuable feedback. As many of you can imagine, time was short and I couldn't add to the game everything I would like to, and other things could be done better. It is all process of getting better and gather experience. As a newbie I can tell, that I learned a lot by doing this game and it was all entertaining for me as well. I hope, that all of you could have as much fun by playing this game and creating your own amazing products, as I did in this jam :)

THE GRAPHICS!! Zomg the graphics are so stinkin' neat I loved it so much. The music and sfx were really nice as well and fit the game perfectly! The controls felt really good and very clean. I got to try flying around being more methodical with my shooting of the laser and then I just tried holding stuff down and letting it rip which was also fun and very satisfying!! I also liked that I could go off screen on any given side and come out the other side. It made me feel like I had options especially when the map got crowded with asteroids! Great job and wonderful game!!

Developer

I'm  really happy that you liked it :D
The graphics were results of little time I had left and when I realized that I can use it as final results - I had to do it :D
For music I used apps for iPad, but SFX is purely from Kenney :)
Its really nice to hear so much positive comment :D

Loved the art style, the asteroids were a bit unfair sometimes cause the come too fast and out of nowhere but still pretty good and did i said i loved the art style? cuz i love it

Thank you so much :D I wanted to keep little randomness for asteroid speed and also there is progressively speeding up process of respawning  the asteroids in the game (up to certain number) to make it more challenging over time, but it is true, that occasionally it is unfair. But if you can have fun anyway, then it is ok :)

i really liked the art , and explosion animation

Developer

Thank you :D Originally I was aiming for different art style, but I run out of time and then I considered: "why not to use my concept ideas?" So I tried to polish little bit more my original doodles and make it as final product :D

You have done the paper effect well and the gameplay is nice. Music fits in well too. Just the growth theme is missing but i see you have explained that below. Good job.

Developer

Thank you :D
I know that I could barely fit to the theme, but if you could have fun at least for moment I am really happy :)

Nice visual effect!

I think the controls are shortly unprecise, maybe a scheme using mouse and keyboard works better.

Anyway, the sfx/music works very well in your game and the art of entire game are soo nice ;D.

Congrats for a great work!

Developer

Thank you so much :D

It was really fun and the artwork really stands out. Good job on the particles as well :)

Developer

Thank you :D I am very happy that you had fun :)

Wow, I really like the art you used for the game! It's very unique and I would love to see you make other games in this art style. I just noticed the small lighting bolts that come out of the Score screen when you load the game and they really do look extra cool!

I think you did a great job with player feedback as well, like adding screenshake when an asteroid explodes and your ship flashes red if you collide with the asteroid. Great job!

Thank you very much :D I am really happy that you liked it - at the beginning I was trying to do it in simple vector based graphics, but that became too time-consuming and then I decided to use my concept doodles as final result (with little bit of extra polish :D ). It somehow fit to the retro aesthetics I was aiming for. This was my first game (and game jam as well), but this doodle style was relatively fast for asset creation, so I may reuse it for future projects as well :)

Awesome graphics and particle effects. Gameplay is simple and fun. In my opinion the spaceship rotation could use some acceleration so it would turn more smoothly. The theme of the jam was not really explored in the game.

Developer

Hi, thank you :D, I am happy that you had fun :)
I wish I could polish the controls little bit more, but I run out of time... Original idea (blackhole consuming everything in space will become bigger and bigger, player should protect it to keep space safe) was too big for me to finish on time... So I ended with asteroids occupying more and more space (asteroid pollution is growing)...

Submitted

Good job! Didn’t really see the connection with the theme, but it’s nice and complete! Sounds are a nice plus :)

BTW, traditionally in asteroid games, asteroids don’t have friction. Is it because you wanted them to actually litter the screen?

Developer

Hi, thank you for playing and having fun :D. The original concept of game became too complex for me to finish on time (growing blackhole after consuming space stuff) so at the end I sticked with the idea, that asteroids are occupying all space on screen (asteroid pollution is growing) - for that reason I add them friction. I had few more ideas like other weapons, shield and some extra info on screen (like popup text explaining picked power ups), but I could not finish all of those on time. Now I am just happy that I could finish something and I had lot of fun creating this game :D
I am just sorry that I didn't had enough time to explain game over in case of too many asteroids in space... And also I would like to polish more the controls (also I had idea of weapons with knock back effect, but without time to prepare it...)

Submitted

I like that and I feel you on that one. I had the same issue with timing (especially due to it being my first jam). But your idea still got across. Congrats :)

Developer

Thank you :D

Pretty cool.

Although CTRL + W closed my tab lol.

Thank you for telling me, to be honest, I have forgotten about this system shortcut and for play testing I was using Spacebar mainly. I hope you could still have fun :D

I really like the design, the art was pretty well done. But I could NOT control this, turning from 0-100%, but I also don't understand how this followed the theme.

How does this follow the Growth theme?

Developer(+1)

Hi, thanks for playing :)
Originally I wanted to add there black hole, which would be increasing on size each time, something would fell in it, until it would consume whole space, but that become too complex and ambitious for me to finish on time. At the end of the day, I had increasing amount of asteroids, which make "asteroid pollution to grow" and your goal is to keep it on low levels. It could follow better the theme, however, in my experience level, I could make at least asteroids amount growth :)
Also this is my first game and first jam :D

I got to 130! :D Super dig the Hand drawn look!

Thanks for playing and having fun :D

This is fun! I wish the mechanics were a bit better explained, though. I didn't really understand that the satellite powerup let you shoot faster until I had gotten a couple of them. Also, my best score was 308.

Developer

Hi, I am happy that you had fun :D
I wanted to add there much more power ups and polish it better (particle effects on pickup, sound, popup text...), but I didn't had time to do it :(
I even had a shield power ready, but struggle to make it working, so I just removed it for the final game.
