This game was awesome, and deserves to be published regardless of whether or not you win. Let me know if you need help with that! I can even help write the poems, or provide Steam money if you need it.

Thank you so much!

Really like the vibes and the black and white style - the story in the beginning made me very curious. That said I wished the story would have been a little bit integrated into the levels and would reward the player with tiny poems telling the story a little bit further. (but we don't have endless time to work on our games right?) I get that the levels are a metaphor, but I would enjoyed some more poems, thats what I'm trying to say haha.

I struggled with the controls a little. Diagonal movement like that is tricky even in a puzzle game :D
Also I think I would try to place all the information on the screen without the scrollbar. First I haven't noticed it and skipped part of the nice poem in the beginning and missed some of the credits, but maybe i'm just stupid haha.

Nice twist with the second character and that you need to trap it!

Great little puzzle game! Congrats!

Thank you very much. tiny poems is a great idea, you are really good with stories. The poem is not mine and I avoid having dialogs and text in my games because I'm not an english native speaker and writing is hard for me because of grammar, so having more text would have made the game worst not better.

Developer(+1)

that's why I made the game more visual or with an implicit story.

Thank you! Part of the story of mine game was written by my brother Noah actually.

I feel you though - i'm not a native speaker myself and was pretty anxious to release a game with that much (serious) story text. I went over it for typos a lot of times and i'm quite sure i have more than one grammar mistake in there too haha.
That said, i hope you don't mind if I disagree - I think more text could have been a nice addition to the game and we all non native english speakers shouldn't care that much about grammar and spelling in this context - i rather expect native speakers to get that not everybody speaks english and that everybody should be tolerant about those things.
I at least - would not have minded a few grammar or typo mistakes if I get a got story anyway. :D

Stop right there criminal scum! You can't make beautiful 3D games with Godot, that's scientifically proven to be a fact! Jokes aside, I really like the aesthetic there. I myself have experimented a lot with those outline shaders but you did a little bit more than just outlines with the post processing. That's some nice effort into creating atmosphere and style, that's great art direction there!

Gameplaywise, I feel like you got a thing going with the mechanics there but the game ended before you could fully explore them. I also felt like the moving directions were a bit weird because our keyboard is up, down, left, right but the character only moves in the diagonals, like, each time I tried to move I would press a button first as guess to then move in the direction I actually wanted, but that's not a big deal since the game doesn't require reflexes and precise movement. Perhaps if it was longer I could get used to it.

But yeah, that's a really cool game you got  there, good job!

Developer

haha. Thanks for the nice insult.

I didn't want to make the levels repetitive, it takes a lot of thought to design them and I ran out of time.

On the controls, I didn't think they were going to be a problem, but it turns out they were, that's the nice thing about letting others test the game but I have no friends...

Wow! This is awesome! From the title menu moving with the mouse to the twist of two characters controlled by the same buttons, you really did a good job on this. Needing to trap one of your characters to get them to stay on the buttons caught me off guard both times, and I really didn't want to do it for some reason  The music and sfx fit the aesthetic really well. Absolutely incredible work on this.

Developer(+1)

Your kind words make me happy. Also thanks for noticing the effect of the title menu, I recently implemented it on a website and thought it would look great in the game. Trapping the character was an accidental mechanic that I discovered by experimenting while designing the levels.

Love the aesthetic, and especially the way the level transitions from one to another! And some very clever puzzle solving with the two characters, and needing to force yourself into “trapped” positions. Walking on diagonals but with straight left-right WASD movement kept throwing me off a little. Maybe would also be helpful to have a very subtle grid-aligned pattern show up around where characters are walking, to help judge alignment/distances?

Developer

I'm glad you enjoy the game. The motion controls might be a bit weird from that perspective, but there's not much I could have done about it, I really like that perspective.

Yup I totally get it, no real perfect answer for it I suppose, certainly didn’t prevent gamepaly, just a little extra cognitive load. Again, nice work!

Really captured a mood with this one! Well done on the black and white aesthetic, and the hunched positions.  It was at times hard to push boxes in this perspective, but I suppose it adds to the feel.

Well done!

Developer

Isometric movement can be confusing. I'm glad you liked the aesthetics.

Really nice, I love the 3 tone colours, the player character is nicely animated, welldone.

Developer

Thanks. I spent a lot of time trying to make it look good.

This game was done very well. Would have liked to see more levels completed. Was really enjoying the puzzle aspect. The graphics were very pleasing. Not sure I understand why the little guy was so afraid of everything.. not really seeing the theme represented here. I love this concept though. You have a nice little game here, I could see this as a mobile app if you could come up with a couple hundred levels and introduce a couple more puzzle elements. Great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing the game and your feedback. I would have loved to have done more levels but level disign is difficult for me. The theme is represented when a level is completed and everything in the scene changes, is more a visual thing than a gameplay thing, but is there. I'm thinking of implementing new mechanics and improving the game in the future.

Developer(+1)

In case it is not clear, the game represents the theme dealing with the fear of change. The character has to face his fear of change at each level, and there are times when only he can help himself with that.
