Hey, I saw your game on twitter! Your pixel artwork is quite good, great job there :) I see you got some good feedback from other people already, so I have not much else to say haha still, I agree with Slecornu in  that this game could become a really interesting metroidvania, and getting an upgrade for carrying more stuff would be a nice addition there.

Also, the ending was quite unexpected and I have mixed feelings about it hahahaha again, great job!

What a charming game! Lots of fun, and very creative. Graphics and audio were both great, though there were definitely some things that could have had SFX and didn't. Love your implementation of duck, duck, moose! Favorite one I've seen.

Developer

hehe the plan was to add another duck going up and down as well, to make the joke even more obvious XD

Glad you've enjoyed it! Yes, SFX are lacking, I have to allocate time for them in the future, otherwise I forget or get distracted.

Cheers!

Very nice, short and sweet! I really enjoyed the eating animations and how it is full after a while. Really intuitive as well! You could add a sound effect for jumping as well to make it more satisfying, and maybe make the camera a bit less janky. Otherwise great job!

Developer

Thank you! All these are very good points! I think I have to dedicate myself to polishing a bit, so I take care of these things before running out of time, or before trying to introduce new stuff.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for dropping by!

I really like the concept and game mechanics, I see potential in this becoming a big metroidvania style game.

Developer

Hey thanks! It does have the main features now that you mention it!
I suppose I have to find a balance between ingredients and distance from the Chef, or increase the carrying property :D

Cheers!

i LOVE the animation! Collecting and vomitting. Genius and cute!

Its really fun to explore the world with the growing abilities. You should definitly make a bigger and more level! I really hope that i will see an update on this ;)

btw, you should move the view a bit downwards when you fall, so you can see better where you will land.

Developer

thanks for the words of encouragement!

Changing the camera when falling is a nice idea for sure!

Great game. I like the graphics and the concept of unlocking new abilities to progress. Really fun to play :D I have one bug tho. On the right side of the bear, when you jump clouds randomly show up and dissapear.  Besside of that I love it :D

Developer

Yeah... I thought it would be cool to add a parallax background on the last hour... it didn't work out :D

Happy you enjoyed it!

Fun! The animations were pretty funny looking! :P

(PlugN'Play)

Developer

Happy you enjoyed them! They took me ages to complete :D

adorable game, I love the art and animations. It's a bit buggy in places but overall it's great for a gamejam game. Nice work.

Developer

Sweet, thanks!

This was my dilemma, do I get rid of the buggy stuff, or keep them in? What are your criteria when working on an issue like that?

Submitted(+1)

I'd say if it's not a gamebreaking bug leave it in and try to fix it after the gamejam is over.

Developer(+1)

Nice and helpful tip, thank you!

Awesome job!

LOVED the artwork and animations :D  Some of my favorites in the jam so far.

Character was super cute and you did a nice job on level design and pacing.

Great game!

Developer(+1)

haha, thank you MrBundles! Which animation was the one you found to be the weirdest?

For level design, I thought: "Oh, I'll just build a prototype now and change the position of stuff later!" ...and then I didn't.

I'm happy you enjoyed it and felt it was fitting!

The regurgitating animation was probably the most surprising/weird. And Hilarious.

My favorite was definitely the bear giving you a taste of whatever he's making 😄

I liked it! I really liked the art and animations, especially when you bring food back to the chef haha. Also the Duck-Duck-Moose implementation was fun. Short game and the controls felt mostly good. I think adding friction so you don't stop immediately when you let go of the run button might feel nice, but  it did not really make a big difference. The main thing I wish was in the game was an on screen indicator/counter that lets you know how many things you have eaten. Overall really good job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for such a detailed comment! Perfecting the movement and how it correlates to the animations should have been one of my priorities, yet I just left it at that saying "I'll do it later" and never did hehe.

You are correct, the indicator would have been great, getting around the faulty animations that fail to load when you try to eat some things, as well as providing better feedback to the player.

I loved the art in this, and the concept was really cool - using the theme in a clever way to unlock more of the level as you go along. I think tighter controls & camera would have made it feel nicer to play. Nice work!

Developer

Thank you for your kind words!

After playing it myself when I uploaded it on itch.io I saw how nauseating the tileset I made felt...

My question about the camera is: would you have it more Zoomed out/in, or perhaps smooth it a bit? Maybe it zooms out during the jump?
I would love to hear your thoughts!

Really wish I could rate! Game just has a lot of charm and you should definitely spare a few minutes to play it :)

Developer

Thanks for trying it out man! Very kind! Did you manage to reach the end?

(+1)

yup!

Oh my god, this game is really cute and the animations are really pretty. The game is a bit janky at times, but the big selling point here definitely is the charme of the two main characters.

Developer

Thank you for trying it out and glad you enjoyed it!
