This was really cool! I used a strategy of trying to stay far away until the opponents wasted their shot, and then moving in and attacking :)
Thanks for the feedback! Nice to know the different strategies players come up with :)
The AI is really impressive!! I feel like it's really well balanced and I was winning as much as I was losing which is fantastic. Really appreciate the tutorial as well!
Happy to hear that. Thank you for the feedback!
That was very fun to play! The AI was well balanced also : not too smart so that it's impossible to win, not too stupid either. Very good game!
Thanks for your feedback!
This was incredibly fun and the controls were tight! The audio was very fitting as well, though I think you could have make it a bit louder. Another note is that perhaps turn speed + reload speed might be a bit overpowered.
Thanks for your feedback! Yes, fast turning and reload is quite powerful. Will see how I can balance out the skills. Nice to get detailed feedback on core mechanics of the game :) Will look into the audio as well.
oh yeah now that said, I truly do love the bot that has a high turn speed + reload speed and keeps trying to wiggle to hit me with both cannons. It was very fun to see!
I really enjoyed this, played all the way through until I'd completed the campaign. I think the music levels are a bit low compared to the canon sound. The AI was hard to figure out, and the random nature of the upgrades offered made it hard to build a ship in the way you want. This turned out to be a good thing though because it forced me to play to my ship's strengths, rather than build the ship to match the way I wanted to play. I ended up with a lot of top speed and canon range, which meant I adopted a sort of hit-and-run approach where I had to keep my distance from the enemy. If I had access to all the upgrades, I think I would have naturally tried to improve my turning circle to out manoeuvre the AI.
I'm not sure if the mouse clicks are necessary, maybe you could have had the ship just follow the mouse constantly? I might have preferred wasd ultimately though.
Thank you so much! It's really heartening when someone plays your game through to the end. Yeah, the randomness in upgrade selection was to encourage different styles of gameplay. Fast turning and reload would be a first choice I guess. Really nice to know you came up with a long-distance combat strategy. The controls will need some redesign. Will look into improving them, and the volume as well. Thanks again!
I really like the tension the music brings to the game! And the AI is very good, I found it hard to progress early on. Nice that you did a custom UI and not the generic Godot buttons. :)
Thank you!
Really interesting control mechanics of the ship. Although the ships feel a little too slow when they move this adds a more "realistic" feeling to the game and makes the player do a more calculated attacks.
Also great job on the enemy AI / behavior
Thanks for the feedback!
This is tough! Seems like wars are not that easy, after all. Unfortunately, I only made it to level 2.
The UI is slick, as already noted. It's fun to move the ship and to be deliberate (this makes the hits satisfying), but the turn rate is abysmal, which makes things more frustrating than it should.
Imagine your game, paired with an artist! :O
Congrats!
Thank you! Sorry about the frustration part. I felt that making the ships slow would encourage more planning. Will see how to make it better.
For sure, I would love to pair up with an artist to make the game better.
Amazing job on the game play! The movement system leads to interesting battles and a bunch of close calls where I barely dodged a bullet, which felt great! I also liked the UI design. Overall very good job!
Thanks for the feedback! This is encouraging :)
The deliberate quality of the ships' movement (though a tad hard to control) made for some calculated and satisfying victories!
Thank you!
