The idea is pretty neat, but you really have to work on the physics of the player!

Overall, a nice game! good job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I am going to rework that at some point.

Neat platformer and cool implementation of using the background of the level to indicate the timing of the beats. My first attempt was around 16:38, and it was fairly difficult mainly due to the controls and a couple of tight timings. I can't quite describe the problem, but I think it's mainly the walljump's stickiness when you try to jump while holding against the wall resulting in a tiny and awkward jump. I personally like the speed boost you get from jumping; it makes the movement feel more unique, and spamming it to move faster makes me feel like a speedrunner. The 3-color ones were fun levels and I really like them, though one minor suggestion would be to speed up the fading for faster tempos so that it's not as visually confusing.

This was a fun platformer, and I think you did well in capturing the feel of the B-side levels.

Developer

Thanks for that feedback! I'm happy you liked it. :) Your time is very impressive!

Yeah, I need to work on that stickiness and difficulty levels (probably I will not only create new but also change the existing ones to be a tad easier), I overshot with that quite a bit. And I'll make sure to tighten the fade in/out of the tiles.

Super challenging game. Made it 11 minutes before I had to give up. The level with the long bars going up and the blue square you had to jump into was super difficult for me.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere you built. It was extremely satisfying to complete a level and get to read the next bit of story before moving forward. I really like the main character, and the sound design in the game.

Great job!

Thank you, glad you liked it! I will definitely tweak the difficulty level on that one, probably add some more introductory levels. If you like the sounds check out the people I added in the credits!

this is pretty challenging!

Developer

Yeah, I need to work on my difficulty balance next jam, one of the harder lessons :)

A really, really hard game hahaha but the rhythm mechanics are indeed very cool. Needed two play twice to get this time. IMO, adding an color order indicator to the harder stages would be a really welcome help haha

Quite interested to see what changes you'll make in the post jam version 🙂

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I thought about adding colours but I had some technical problems with assigning it correctly with number of turns (it's always four, whereas there are 2/3 colours) and it was too troublesome to fix it.

But in the after jam version I'll definitely do that, thanks!

Cool rhythm mechanics. And it's great that this is not just a platformer, but there is some kind of history-philosophy. At first glance, the game seems simple, but there is something special about it

Developer

Thank you for the feedback, I'm glad you liked it!

The style and story make this a very intriguing game. I could not get my head around the unstable time tempo so I was not up to the challenge. Enjoyed what I played though.

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, that is another thing I learned on that jam, probably need to tweak the difficulty level better and add some more introductory levels.

Loved the title screen particularly, it drew me into the game with those change of colour effects. The story and transition is also great. I feel the game is just let down by the difficult controls. I made it through quite a few levels but never felt comfortably in control of the player. Some of the mechanics getting introduced were interesting too.. but yeah.. hope you tidy up the controls and polish of the game, got real potential!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! Yeah, I will try to sit down after the voting and fix the controls to be smoother.

Cool Animations and Idea, character controller could be made a bit easier to control. Quotes and audio were pretty good too. Decent game!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

I really like the story elements you added at the start. I think the player controls were a bit to... digital? Something felt a bit limited there. Maybe need to revisit the way you've applied gravity to see if you can make it a bit smoother and more forgiving.

Music helps really build an atmosphere there

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, movement implementation was much harder then I thought.

Submitted(+1)

It's very tricky. I often take an existing controller from the asset store or online and then use that as a base to get started. KidsCanCode have some great pointers on their website for that.

Developer (1 edit)

I will definitely check it out! :) Cheers

I like the character and the moving animation is super smooth. The controls feel a bit off, especially when it comes to wall climbing. Interesting timing mechanic although the presentation of the numbers threw me off at first. It took some experimenting to get the hang of the mechanics but overall pretty good.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! The character and their sounds were created by Sven. I will try to tweak the controls.

Not the best time in the world, but it’s something haha.

I liked the idea and the mechanic of an unstable heartbeat fit the theme well. I think that the character is supposed to die when a block appears inside him, but I just got the particles explosion effect and stayed alive.

If you ever decide to update the game I also recommend checking the controls again, I felt that the running speed was to slow when compared to the jump speed, when I needed to wall jump I felt it was a little strange too.

But had fun with the game, it is quite challenging! Congrats on submitting!

Developer

Thanks! I did not want the character to die on the block turn because I anticipated players to have that more often and so would be frustrating, instead I opted for just a character freeze.

I will definitely check the controls out, I never imagined tweaking the movement would be that intricate

This game has a really neat timing mechanic! My only feedback is that I think the platforming controls could feel smoother and less "jerky"

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yeah, I will try to tweak it a bit after the jam.
