This was super fun, great job! Same as other commenters, I couldn't get past night 3, but I might try it again another time.

This one overall was very fun and kind of addicting. I liked the art style and music/sound effects were very effective. I found the difficulty ramps up rather quickly and I couldn't get past the 3rd night before I gave up as I didn't want to spend too much time on it. It wasn't clear how much difference the upgrades made, and I wished there was a chance to upgrade the reload speed as that was the main thing holding me up. The characters and story were interesting. Controls were smooth and easy and gameplay was fun overall. Well done!

Thanks for playing, I originally was going to have Val give you choices to upgrade between, damage, range, reload speed, along with some of the other characters like Sam be able to give you items for better view distance, movement speed and the sort. Time and lack of experience held me back for those ideas. This difficulty system is actually an improvement to my original one I made 3 days into the competition, where night 2 was super hard. I think I just needed to make a few number adjustments and more playtesting to really hit that sweet spot. I'm glad you enjoyed the gameplay of it  all.

I loved how everyone in the camp immediately felt the need to justify why they were there lol. Gameplay was fun, only had a couple minor issues like sometimes it seemed like my spacebar presses didn't register when I was upgrading, but it always worked after fiddling around with it for a couple seconds so it wasn't a big deal. Considering you literally just started using the engine before the jam I'd say you did a great job. The drop when the boss hit was thicc.

Thanks! The issue you reported with the space bar has to do with how I handled the night/day progression. In order to prevent players from accidentally spending too much time than they wanted with an NPC during the day I used a timer between when you can use spacebar to accept the NPCs' services. In the future I should probably lower the timer a bit for better user experience.

This game is pretty awesome. I had lots of fun playing it. I did not see a reason to keep the fire in the middle lit. Wastes too much time. Also, the game is very hard. I could not get past night 3.

Developer

thanks! I had a lot of fun making this game for my first game jam. I wanted to get to play testing the game more, but I had to leave for a vacation an hour after I submitted the game. I also only had about 4 days experience with the Godot game engine prior to the jam. I can't wait for next month's when I have more experience and time  for my disposal.

pretty cool game. I liked the idea and the people creeped me out. Audio could use a little better mixing things were really loud at times. camera seemed a little wonky moved counter to what I would think and it was disorienting at times. some indicators as to how leveled my stuff is would have helped. Great work enjoyed playing your game.

Developer

It didn't even cross my mind to add in a menu to show how much you've progressed. Thanks for the input and will keep that in mind going forward. Audio was added last minute, and I didn't have enough time to research how to implement it in properly before leaving for my vacation. I'll be sure to make more time for that in future jams, and thanks for the review :)
