Game Description
A short story game about exploring the inner void of ones mind and fighting emotions and feelings manifested in a TBS style combat.

How does your game tie into the theme?
It ties into the theme in a two ways, firstly its de-void of color being only black and white. Secondly it plays with the idea of 'a void in ones heart'.

A little bit dark but very nice. Missing a few sound effects like I thought the run button was not working but it was intentional. But overall very cool and has a lot of potential.

Nice!! I love how each "everyday treasure" from the main character's past reveals something about the kind of person they are, the stat boosts sort of reflecting their increased determination. The enemy designs were delightfully creepy and I love how their attacks and behavior reflect the negative emotion they represent—like Anger hurting itself when it lashes out, or Anxiety fueling its allies by laughing at you.

The artstyle and animations feel super clean but I think the atmosphere was my favorite part. The world is bleak but the dialogue has a touch of tender hope. The battle with our own bad habits and feelings may be endless, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't keep fighting...!

Really nice work!! It's a shame there's not more ratings on this one, it more than deserves it!!

I mean wow, there were some dummy good details in this game. I clearly missed stuff in my play-through and will have to go back. That's a feeling I love, especially out of a smaller game.

My absolute favorite detail was the change in attacks after using the smear ability.

I think the only bummer in the game was that hitting continue on dialog cleared the dialog as opposed to showing it all, with the second button press continuing instead. But again, that's a nitpick. I just learned I had to be patient and wait. Totally fine.

Nice!

Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed it. But I do totally agree with your nitpick about the dialog, it completely flew over my head while making it but it's definitely something I'll add to any future game with dialogue.

Great design and love the music! I wish the movement was faster so the fall back to an earlier spot mechanic didn’t feel so punishing.

This is absolutely amazing you did a great job creating a fun turn based combat system with the limited time here. The art is also good, it creates a very nice aesthetic that goes with the theme. The UI fitting with the art is admirable too. Overall one of my favorite games in this jam.

A really good rpg for a game jam! I particularly enjoyed how the enemies required specific strategies to handle. The art-style is nice and cohesive as well.

You can occasionally see the next room if you are playing on a wide-screen monitor. It isn't really an issue in this game, but I thought I'd mention it as a thing to be aware of in future games. I also think it would be nice if pressing the text-skip button while text is printing would show the entire string that is currently printing, instead of starting to print the next string.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words, and I definitely agree that the text should've first show the whole text and only after that go to the next rather than skipping. It totally flew over my head while making it!

I absolutely loved the game. I played this through with a friend and we were amazed by the theme and were really moved by the story. Unfortunately, the game crashed in the second to last fight. Keep it up, really liked it.

Thank you very much, I'm glad you liked it!
I'm sorry for the crash, I believe that the crash happens when an enemy dies from damage over time at the same moment the player quickly selects a move.
Thank you again!
