This was pretty challenging for me, but I absolutely love the concept, very fun and unique
Also character animation looks nice, the only thing I missed was the fullscreen option as it's a bit hard to aim the jumps in the tiny window
Great job!
Thanks! Yes I will try to add a fullscreen option next time for sure
This is a very unique and fun game, I don't think I've seen a platformer where you gain jumps throughout the level, very cool. The movement feels a bit off, I don't know much about movement controllers so I can't say anything specific. It would've been nice to have a little shadow under the player to gauge where one would land. And I think the game would've benefited from a bigger window or a fullscreen option, both can be edited under the Embed options in the edit game page. Overall this is a really good for a first game jam, keep up the great work.
Thank you so much for the input! I will remember the embed options thing for my next jam for sure, and yeah I think spending more time on the movement and movement animations is a good idea.
Cool idea, the gravity ramping up really added a sense of urgency to every jump.
There were a few times where my character, and the pickups I was going for where below the bottom of the screen so had to guess I was doing it right. Overall good job though.
Thanks! The camera lock might be in too short of a range I think
The idea is original! good point for this.
I would have played longer if the controls and movement were smoother and if we had better visual and auditory feedback.
It lacks juice. But with the right game feel, it can be incredible.
Thank you! Yes I agree, a bit of polish would go a long way. Maybe next time I will spend more time on the animations / character controller. Oh, and sound, yeah sound would be good haha
A fun and unique take on the theme and i really like this gravity concept. I feel like that with some practice you could make this idea to a bigger game.
Thanks! I will definitely consider iterating on the concept for a larger game :)
Creative idea, I felt like the second level was too punishing, 3 and 4 where very well designed with the chaining jumps. I think adding some tiny walls where you need to land after dashing could help as most of my failures at level 2 where by dashing too far away. Maybe making the collectibles area a bit bigger or adding a magnet like effect to the player could also avoid the issue of getting a little too far/ too close of them and not picking them up. Overall I liked it,especially because of the last 2 levels, the effect when gravity gets to max is interesting aswell, very solid for a first entry.
An external tip I would give you about 3d modelling is trying out BlockBench (if you prefer low-poly models), its way easier than blender and the results are pretty good, you can fully skip UV unwrapping and paint the model directly which is very usefull, specially if your solo. I have first heard about it from this video
Thank you, so many great ideas! I will definitely check out BlockBench, if it can speed up my workflow then I am all for it! I never even thought about adding walls, that would make things a lot better for the player. Thanks again!
Neat game, you can really feel the gravity increasing with every moment. I do feel like the only issue I had was the camera being a bit high on the field of view and sometimes I'd get lost looking into the void after I accidentally dash over a platform.
The 2nd level was much harder for me than the 3rd, but all were very acceptable difficulty with clear ideas of what the player needs to do. Great entry, well done!
Thank you much! Yes you are absolutely correct about the camera, next time i'll spend more time setting it up
Pretty nice game. An extremely unique take on a platformer, havent seen much else manipulate gravity like that. Levels seemed good and were fun to go through with all the jumps I ended up accumulating. Ran into a small bug where momentum carries through levels so if you end a level by dashing that kills you in the next level since youre still dashing.
Main thing that was missing was some music to vibe to in the background while I was playing but the game itself is well done
I appreciate it! Thank you for pointing out that bug, I didn't think of that, and if I had more time I was thinking of making some synthwave to go with the game :)
Very impressive for your first jam! I had a hard time making I think jump 3? Tough for sure. I think add a little more forgiveness in the beginning of the game and some checkpoints. Great job, again! Keep it up.
Thank you! I definitely made it a bit too difficult in hindsight, checkpoints are a good idea!
Tolles Spiel, kann ich empfehlen.
Vielen Dank!
Nice concept! though i had some weird feeling when jumping as the background was all black i lost some sense of profundity and i missed some jumps
Thanks! Yeah I was going to add a background of some sort but ran out of time haha
