Your artwork is really good. Sound fits also the game. I gave up to complete the first level after some time. You should consider to implement a "coyote jump" as this prevents a new player for getting frustrated to early before even understanding the story.
I liked the art, the music and the story bits in the levels, controls are nice and responsive. Could consider adding some upward speed to the character after killing an enemy, to make the kill more juicy.
A mostly functional, slightly stiff platformer. Killing the enemies could have been a lot punchier, a squish or pop or something when they died, as well as giving the player some more feedback when they get hurt. The heartbeat sound works, but some visual/mechanical (knockback) feedback would hammer it home. I also had to restart once as I got wedged in between a skele and the large capy, and couldn't jump my way out.
I love the vibe overall, you'd said you did the art (except the menu background) yourself? I really like it. It's fairly consistent in tone and style, and gives lots of detail for such a low resolution. Great job there.
The story was really short, but that's exactly what you want to do for a game jam: make something short, and then polish it until it's short and sweet. Excellent job on your first published project and first finished jam, thanks for giving us a game to play!
Thank you for your encouraging feedback!
I appreciate it! And I'll keep practicing :)
Really cool game, I enjoyed it. The music is great. Art is also good, but especially on level 1 it could get some background, whatever.
So the brown capybara-bears don't seem to kill you, I wonder if that's intended.
Also, "toch me".
I loved how the story is portrayed and killing of skeletons. The only bad thing is that the game is so short, but other than that, that's a great beginning!
Thank you very much! The bear and the skeletons each do 2 damage per hit. You have 10 health points. If you are hit 5 times then you die.
Yes, unfortunately it is short. I had created the game for a jam. And didn't have many days.
Thanks for the feedback.
That's strange because I was definitely killed by skeletons but was cuddling bears for quite some time and nothing bad was happening.
That's odd. Shouldn't be like that haha
If I fall into the abyss, the UI follows me xD
The player looks like a mage, but you kill by jumping like in Mario. It has some graphic charm, but I miss something special.
Thank you very much!
Yes, that's right, it's a magician. I wish he could throw fireballs or something like that, but unfortunately I didn't know how to program it. And the UI thing was a bit intentional, it looks more interesting that way.
Yes, something special is missing. I agree.
Thanks for your honest feedback.
Very nice! Especially for your first submission. I really like all of your spritework.
My favorite part was the slow-mo effect when you beat the game! Feels very cinematic and cool lol
I would recommend adding some kind of knockback or other feedback for when you get hit, at first I didn't realize the enemies were damaging me.
Over all pretty fun, thanks!
Thank you very much.
I have done a lot of work with the sprits. I also created the sprits for the first time.
I added a heartbeat sound as soon as the player collides with an opponent. But of course, a hit sprit would have been better.
I'm glad you enjoyed my game.
Thanks for your f
eedback
They got me! Really like the intro scene and the art. Cool way to tell a story through a platformer, nice pixel art and change of scenes! The jump felt a bit restricted, like I was jumping against a ceiling. Well done on your entry!
I'm very pleased to hear that!
Yes, I'll have to do better next time. What would definitely also be nice is a double jump :) Let's see how I manage that next time.
Many thanks for your feedback!
