I enjoyed the game, but a couple quick notes:

  • as others have said, enemies seem to have a lot of health.  six hits is a lot for most of the attacks
  • I liked that all of the elemental attacks were a bit different, and if anything I think more variety could be added to make each element seem more unique.  Lightning was its own thing, but the others mostly just varied in range.  Maybe as an idea, earth could hit in all directions and fire could let you hold the button to keep doing damage? just spitballing here.
  • Might want to get rid of the stairs tile and other sprites in the treasure room.  I ended up playing through the game a second time to see if they did anything and was a bit disappointed when they didn't

Generally had a good time though, and the art was really nice in particular.  Good job!

Thanks a bunch for trying our game out! Yeah if we do get around to doing some post jam polishing, I might end up making the abilities play different as they do feel like asset flips at times. Appreciate the feedback!

Lovely game!

Art is super cute, the enemy design was pretty creative!

I did like the audio, when it comes to spell noises and stuff, I did miss a lot of it, mostly a small musical theme and some game sounds that were not present.

Control wise, it was good, but a bit annoying that the attacks were not all the same, I mean I can understand why the lightning would be different, but I think that they should have all use the same mechanic, even if you have to make two attack moves, one direct from staff taking X mana and another on the mouse pointer taking Y mana, and balance it out, but nothing too much.

Regarding fun, gave 5 stars, I think its just very balanced difficulty wise, and the fast pace makes it fun, would like to see a finished game outta of it :)

I mean no harm with the feedback, all constructive, mostly since I came to the page from your discord pos so I know you had some setbacks, so congrats!

Thank you so much for giving our game a shot! Absolutely no offense taken brotha! If anything, we are super grateful for you taking the time to write a review on our game! It means a lot to us and motivates us to do even better the next time around. Much love <3

Very cool dungeon crawler! The element mechanic is solid and the game plays well. I was a bit confused with what the money was for and there were some animation glitches, but I had fun overall. Good work!

Thank you wholeheartedly for trying our game out! If you collect enough coins, a door opens that leads to ENDLESS WEALTH (end of the game) lmao. Just both of us casually projecting what a truly broke bunch of uni students we are (mostly me lol). Appreciate it!

Nice little game. loved the pixel art and the overall idea was quite nice with needing the proper element to take out enemies. Not a fan with how much health each enemy had combined with the fact they just ignored the walls though reading other comments I do see that was an unintended bug. Otherwise great work it's an impressive piece for your first game jam.

Developer

Thank you kindly for trying out our game! Yeah we were hyperfocusing on the mechanics and ended up not having enough time to playtest and balance stuff out. Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I am certain we will get better over time! Cheers!

I love this game! Playing it kind of reminded me of Diablo 4 in terms of the dungeon atmosphere and cycling between abilities. I think I did notice a few bugs like enemies moving through walls but overall I think this was an awesome entry. I'm very impressed with the pixel art!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing our game! Yeah we noticed the bugs on our last hour and were too tired to fix it xD. Glad you enjoyed it and can't wait to try out yours!

Interesting idea! I found it a little bad with the attacks, being a topdown game I would have expected to direct the attack in at least four directions.

Really nice game. I like how the player is required to utilise all different kinds of elements to take out enemies, as some are immune. I feel like the player movement could be improved, since it felt quite slippery. Also allowing the player to move while attacking could help with flow. Had a lot of fun though!

Developer

Thanks! Appreciate the feedback, would’ve been nice to spend a bit more time as always haha

My wealth is immense!  The message when collecting the gold was very encouraging :D. Fun game, though the controls could use some work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing our game! Yeah it was my first ever game jam and unfortunately I did a fair bit for the controls so explains why it's so jank :(. However, the UI was done by my talented partner so shouts to him :D

Had fun! I kept fumbling between the attack key and next ability key. Maybe they could be farther apart?

Developer

Appreciate the feedback! Believe it or not that was my attempt on making the controls easier, so you can imagine how terrible I am at this
