Description
This is a submission for "Impressions Composing Jam OST #1" wherein participants are tasked with creating a soundtrack based on the theme of the Death Knight character archetype.
Taking inspiration from Mozart's "Don Giovanni", I wanted "The Death Knight Takes the Field" to have a big, bombastic opening. Then I took inspiration for the slow galloping rhythm from Langisser 2's "Leon's Theme". I also made sure to include moments of harmonic tension.
DAW: FL Studio
VSTs: Audio Imperia Nucleus, EastWest Hollywood Orchestral Woodwinds and Hollywood Orchestral Brass, In Session Audio Drumatic Creator, Steven Slate Drums 5.5, Arturia Pigments, Korg M1
Plugins: Waves Magma Tubes Stereo, Waves Magma Channel Strip, Maximus, Fruity Balance, Limiter, and Compressor.

Really cool track, perfectly captured the theme, I love the sound selection and composition, I think the track could benefit by the implementation of more natural dynamics in the instruments interpretation, but the feeling and vibe is perfectly captured anyways! great job!!
This has a sort of old school vibe to me somehow. Not sure how to describe it, like I'm playing a video game in the 90s or watching something in the 90s.
Overall it's pretty cool Also like that you used something from Don Giovanni.
Great work! :)
I totally get what -NOVA- meant with the Dragon Ball Z vibes, those little parts at 0:53 and 1:45 really give off that Bruce Faulconer feel 😁
Good stuff!
Good job, everything is very well rounded, absolutely no boring moment ever, super fluid, you manage to go a nice arrangement. Well done.
Strong start. Right off the bat i can feel myself amidst the action.
-Nice use of what i believe is dissonance as well. I can also here some "mission impossible" inspiration as well.
-Transition smoothly and quick between tempos and sections
-This is like a masterclass in transitioning between sections.
-This is Quite the adventure. I don't think this would work as an OST since it would easily outshine the game. But this is great flex that displays all the skills (and then some) necessary for composition in any industry. in fact i would consider this to be a great standalone demo to send when people ask about your work.
Keep up the great work, i gave full marks!!
This arrangement is awesome! You definitely got the skills to blend different themes and I think all the sections can be developed into individual level themes. Great work!
This definitely gives my older game vibes! I love the variation in this, as you've successfully integrated many parts that could be used for different scenarios in a level/boss fight! This track has so many layers that could be used in fmod or wwise to create awesome game events.
I really appreciate the way it sounds, and I love the variety of grooves woven throughout this composition!
Cool! I love how many ideas you managed to fit into one track and how well you transitioned through each one without anything feeling out of place. It covered a range of moods and every element kept changing to fit the new vibe. Really cool and obviously a lot of work gone into creating it. Loved the woodwind flourishes too. Really nice work 👍🏽
I think the composing and instrument choice on this piece is spot on! There are so many interesting melodic ideas in here, and the way you utilize the percussion and bells reminds me (strangely enough) of the English dub soundtrack of Dragonball Z!? This track would fit right in there! You nailed the ability to categorize small ideas and nuances of a story, but told in audio format. My only criticisms of it are that I wish sound mixing/mastering was improved, because the concepts in here are great!
Fantastic work, especially condensed into a single track. Great job!!!
Okay... you're a contender for the hottest cover art of this jam. And even, I think, the winner.
I like the variety of instruments and the smooth flow from one theme to another! (I especially love 2:10 to 2:16. Chic!)
Only the drums were a bit lacking in ruthlessness :> (But that's okay! It's just my personal fetishes...).
Good work!
