Lots of fun with an insane art direction and music for such a small time frame! Loved playing it even though it's pretty difficult and I'm still trying to beat it haha

This was such a treat! Everything here was on point: the art, the audio, UI, mechanics, so well executed for basically being made in about a week!

It's really, really challenging, which I actually think plays to its strengths. It has that roguelike 'this'll be the run for sure' mentality that keeps you playing over and over again just waiting for that godly rng to kick in. On the reverse side of that, it does feel like there's a lot of moments where you get put into a desperate situation that has no actual escape. When you're left with a ton of food but no weapons, it becomes a bit frustrating to just keep healing until you can only punch enemies, which is so weak that I can't see it actually saving you 9/10 times. Maybe there's several struggle moves that have varying risk/damage output ratios?

The character designs are probably my favorite part of the game. They're silly, creepy, and just unexpected all at the same time. There's a really funny moment when you defeat your first wolf, and find out the next enemy is a giant candy cane monster! Or an artillery snowman, or a flaming pile of living coal! So much creativity on display.

The twist at the end was also an exciting little surprise. I thought there was going to be even more encounters and that the town was the next level/floor/area, but it was also nice to see that I managed to make it to the end.

Will definitely play more of this if you guys decide to keep working on it!

These types of games always bring out my stubborn side. I was determined to keep trying again and again until I won, and judging by the screenshots, there's still plenty I haven't seen- which is super impressive given the length of the jam! Art and sound were also top notch. I also really enjoyed the sense of resource management and risk vs reward that came with the heat system. I will say, though, my winning run came during the run in which I tried to avoid as many battles as possible. I feel like, nine times out of ten, the items you get from defeating enemies just aren't worth giving up precious heat, and I felt like if I was careful, I could get by with just the cinnamon roll and knife. I felt a little cheated when i spent my cinnamon roll and 3-4 knife uses on a bear only to get a rock that I only got to use once. But eh, chances are I just got unlucky and that them's the breaks, but if there isn't already, i think a normal and rare item pool might be in order. I also had a few instances where I got back to back encounters that were pretty much unwinnable. I feel like most items don't do enough damage/have enough uses to truly be helpful in battle, especially since there isn't really a boss or anything to prepare for. I will say, I really liked the writing overall and especially "twist" at the end, and would LOVE to see more from this concept!

Really nice environment, music, visuals, and narrative voice! I'm definitely going to be playing this one again. The resource management is really important really quickly. Would love more opportunities to use items. There were a few spots where it felt like I was locked out of using something, even a recovery item.

woah! this was awesome!! The art, the sound design, the writing, the mechanics! All around super solid, especially for how much time we had!

I really loved the humor in everything, like somehow using the knife to cut through the river and the character just accepts it haha (ruined my run though, losing that knife is rough!!). The pixel work is top notch here too, great enemy design and implementation and god that fire looked so damn cozy! I feel like I could easily sink into this game and just mosey around the woods seeing what there is to see.

I think the only couple issues i have have to do with encounters, it was pretty common for me to run into the same encounter back to back (some of which can be *very* punishing!) and it was pretty easy to wind up in no win situations wrt combat. I feel like the latter could be helped by having the punch attack be useable even if the player has healing items.

All in all, *very* well done! I would absolutely love to play more of this, PLEASE keep working on it!!!

Wow! This is really well done all around. One aspect I especially like is how the items are differentiated from each other by more than just art and raw stats - like using a bottle as a weapon after drinking the contents, cutting the river with the knife, etc. I died quite a lot at first, but I wasn't frustrated since I got to see new interactions each run

Damn, this is slick. Love the graphics, the writing...pretty much everything. Just wish it was longer!
