Here I will leave my critical review muahaha! Well the gameplay is solid, is quite fun and easy to get into. The upgrade system was a bit difficult to read at first would recommend bigger text, and as for the abilities they disappeared for me in the buttons but they still worked I just couldn't see them once the scenario initiated, as for the destruction it was so gratifying! I would love to see more enemy variety, and yeah maybe better medium tear enemies. As for the whole experience it was fun, witty and would love to see more!
Thank you for the thorough feedback!
I played this and rated it but totally forgot to comment! As mentioned on the discord, the main issue I had was finding my way into the level; the direction took some working out, compounded with then not recognising the teleporter (at first). But once I got there, the mayhem of smashing things up was really quite satisfying :)
Incidentally... I'm not sure how my bosses' nefarious scheme was going to work out; if he was hoping to make money selling insurance, he's going to very unhappy when all those payout claims roll in, haha! Oh well... so long as he keeps paying me my £1 a week...
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you had fun.
Fun game!! It is not idiot proof (source: i am the idiot) as I didn't realize where the portal was for a good bit. I just walked up to the upgrades and ran around the room until seeing the arrow pointing to the portal. Also my upgrades disappeared, I was so sad when Gun vanished. Fav parts were quadruple jumping away from the little men trying to stop me and being able to keep going even when I got fired. Can't stop me from doing my dream job, boss!!
I love the honesty and this is great since we had this moment in testing. "They're not going to know where the portal is." "Lets put giant arrows on the ground."
I had lots of fun! I ran into some bugs (some power ups stopped working) but I guess that's to be expected with a jam game
I'm glad you had fun! :)
Really fun game! I kept finding myself wanting to go back out and destroy buildings and the dialogue was super compelling ^^
I did run into a few bugs where I couldn't use any of my power ups when I entered the city, they would all disappear from my dock menu and not activate when pressing keys. The portal was kinda tricky to enter, I had to be constantly moving into the mesh to see the Start Level option. Another small note was that the text and UI was really small while playing the game fullscreened on a larger monitor, not the end of the world but made it difficult to see talk options pop up.
Glad to hear the writing kept things engaging, and that the destruction was fun! There are definitely some bugs that need ironing out, especially with respects to the ability system, since that was one of the final things we really implemented. Also, thanks for the UI feedback, we'll keep that in mind if/when we get around to making some fixes!
Fun game! I enjoyed smashing things up (even if it didn't always meet with the boss's approval).
I'm glad you had fun! Thanks for playing :)
The boss is just a jerk like that. Much like in the real world, you really have to bend over backwards to meet the approval of your corporate overlord. We did write additional dialogue for more varied responses from the boss based on how well you do, but we unfortunately didn't have the time to implement a full scoring system into the game within the jam time limit.
Loved the amount of destruction in this game! Overall liked the gameplay and the progression, but I found myself always really short on magic. This may have been because I often would see little to no police / trains / etc to fight. Some levels I wouldn't see any at all.
I really wish there was more feedback. I couldn't tell when I got hurt or when I hurt the little dudes.
Keep up the good work!
This is a really enjoyable game with destructible environments. I really liked destroying the city while encountering opposition, but maybe the controls could feel a bit smoother?
I'm glad you had fun! The destructibility is one of my favorite parts as well :) What parts of the controls do you think should be improved?
well I think that some parts should feel more responsive
I really enjoyed breaking the buildings apart chunk at a time, I too had a little bit of an issue with the trains but I just did my best to stay away from them. Overall great job!
The trains (or Tranks, as we call them internally) are quite nasty! We didn't have time for all the stat tuning we wanted to do, so they might be a tad too strong.
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you had fun.
Awesome game!
A couple things to note first, the trains were quite glitchy for me, they kept killing me no matter what and I couldn't get near them. The movement could also be a bit glitchy but that was mainly due to the physics and the fact it's a massive monster so more than forgivable! Finally I could only use 1 attack and then they would all disable (apart from the default one of course).
Apart from those small things this game is great! I played for way longer than I planned on, since it's so satisfying, looks amazing and sounded perfect. Great game overall :)
Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it! The abilities still persist into the levels, they just don't show up on the hotbar. You can still use them though! Those trains are definitely beastly
