Wow. Wow. The first level is really clever and totally makes up for the lack of instructions.
Sprites and animations: Great.
Music : Great.
Sound: Great.
Difficulty: Perfect. The addition of the blank spaces is brilliant.
Controls: Good. I'm not sure if it's supposed to continuing to move on it's own sometimes or if that's a bug. Either way, I adapted.
I am stumped on a level and I'm leaving that browser tab open until I figure it out.
I sincerely hope you win.
Wow.
Thanks! It's supposed to move continuously so you need to remember the path that you're taking or you can do it on go. Which level is troubling you?
Oh, you're right. I didn't notice it always moving on its own because when I'm decisive, I'm pressing the key.
2017 was a beast for me. I knew exactly what I needed to do, just couldn't get the pattern right in my brain. I went back to it and got through it. I will finish this game.
I thought of some actual feedback too. So I played this because my jam partner played it and said it was his favorite also. Looking at a jam with 200+ entries, I was probably not going to play yours on my own because the presentation was too simple (e.g. the title image). It didn't draw me in at all, and I questioned how it was even going to fit with the theme. I was judging your book by the cover and I was 100% wrong. That being said, I have no idea what you should change because I think the aesthetic of your game is perfect, and anything too flashy would be doing it a disservice. The minimal nature of the game is what makes it amazing. How do you advertise the minimalism as a positive when surrounded by games where minimalism usually means "incomplete" at best, and "painful" at worst?
It's far beyond the scope of this jam, but fully painted box art like Atari games used to have would be a perfect fit for this game.
Man, thanks for that feedback (╥﹏╥). I think the presentation is a big thing on game jams. Sometimes it's a little painful but that's what it is about. Sell your game to the audience. I don't like that part but it is necessary. But beyond that I would agree with that "incomplete" thing. Sometimes it's a good thing to think what is really needed in your game. How you can make your game simple and intuitive but challenging (not saying that my game is perfect xP). It's hard but it's doable. Thanks again for feedback!
Awesome game! Love the puzzles and the music i s perfect. I could easily see myself playing this on my phone when I had some time to kill!
Good job!!
Thanks
Good job. The puzzles, animations and music are great.
Very nice job designing the levels. I felt like the difficulty was perfect. I also liked the music and game art. Overall great job!
Yea, worked on that levels boi xP
Very fun puzzle game, good job! Pretty chill :)
Wow, it looks really cool
Nice idea :D
+ Love the music and sound effects
+ Great use of assets
+ Like the animations
+ Simple concept, good difficulty curve
+ Works with the theme
- Need to know controls
- Spelling mistakes
- Next level/Restart level buttons would be better if you could press a key to trigger
Thanks for feedback! I will add it to my todo list xP
Cute puzzle game! Simple and executed really well. The ambiance also makes for a calming experience!
Thanks :)
simple game, but very fun to play, really enjoyed it
Thanks!
It was a simple enough idea, somebody just had to think of it. Simple and fun gameplay. It's a very good game!
Thanks :)
I thought it's just another "do not cross the same tile twice" puzzle, but how wrong I was. I think this is the first time I played this kind of puzzle in which the "player" keep moving instead of waiting for next input.
(Maybe that's because I forgot what I've played, though)
I really liked the overall look and feel. The grass being cursed to return with revenge to the lawn mower is neat too! :D
Thanks for feedback and kind words!
I genuinely love this game! Super simple but well crafted for exactly what it is. The puzzles are straightforward but very clever and require careful planning. This reminds me a little of a great MS-DOS game I played decades ago called "Pyro2."
Thanks man! I've just checked Pyro2 and I can say that it's more challenging if you want to get the highest score. Also, number of possibilities are huge but thanks for comparison. I appreciate it.
This was a neat puzzle game, I thought it was really innovative. The grass coming up and grabbing the mower is a nice looking effect, and I thought the levels were done well. The double grass was a nice twist and was introduced at a good time. As I was playing I was thinking of other tiles that could be fun - maybe a rock that acts as a boundary but on the inside of the grass that you have to navigate around. Or maybe a flower patch that you can't mow down. Or hills that you can go down but not up.
I enjoyed this game, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for playing and for good opinion. I thought about other tiles (flowers and hills) but I've started this project too late to make them (maybe the patch will fix it xP). It's funny but this puzzler has some kind of patterns that're needed to restrict. It's almost like making levels in "A Good Snowman Is Hard To Build"
Loved the simplicity, cool puzzler
Thanks. Tried to make it simple as you've said
Really love it! once i figured out how the mover moved was really fun! made it to 2010........
Thanks, nice score xP Do you think movement should be explained or it is good as it is?
I think the movement was easy to figure out. I don't remember if you explained if you could move through blank spots but I figured that out pretty easily. only other thing is maybe explaining that you can move in any direction while its waiting for its next move action. I think the 2008 level had you move back one space before completing.
There are plenty ways to complete the levels but there is always a way that doesn't require rotating 180 degrees. I've forgotten to change the movement function that you couldn't rotate that way but it gives more possibilities (and is easier xP)
A nice challenging puzzler. I had fun! The curse theme isn't the most clear but the animations when it is are very clean
Thanks. Well, had a dilemma if the game needs some explanation about the curse theme but I left it like this as some kind of surprise. You get the rules of play by playing. Thought about some kind of wizard cursing grass but meh xP
