Not that many exploration games this jam, so this one is a beautiful surprise. The game looks gorgeous and it is very relaxing, which is exactly what I needed. I think that with some story telling, you could have something special here.
Haven’t encountered many issues, but sometimes water does not render properly. But that is no biggie. Awesome entry :)
I'm glad a lot of people enjoyed the relaxing aspect of it and you did too, Thanks for playing my game dzejpi :D
Awesome use of assets. Very nice scenarios.
Just made me want to take an screenshot and share, powerful trigger.
I can't see the "rotation" theme of the jam, but the realization is great! Smart idea that collecting paddles gives you speed. Played it til the end! 👏👏👏👏
Thank youu LongStoryShort for playing the game and yes few people mentioned the rotation theme not being obvious but that is solely my fault haha but anyways glad you liked it and the idea of the paddles :D
Did not expect much going into the game but I'm genuinely surprised how much I actually enjoy it! It's just something about the feel of the game that just makes it so satisfying and relaxing! Well done on that!
I feel like you could take this game further by adding come attention to details and some fun interaction. Say maybe a rower to the boat that does various idle animation, like fishing, maybe some fish jumping over the boat, a little rocking on the boat, etc. Also, could add a night cycle where the water is a lot more calm and have glowing particle appearing where the water is disturb (by the boat, the shore lines, etc). Something similar to this:

But yeah I felt this can be a really good game to chill in, just sit back and relax. Really enjoy the game a lot! Keep it up! Oh I also found that the collider is acting a bit weird, forgive me if I'm wrong but did you use tick convex on the mesh collider? Cause if so it'll make a weird simplified collider with weird shape. And with that I'll leave you with this screenshot:
This is the reason I participate in game jams and make games in general is to hear awesome feedback like this from the players and yes this could be expanded in many other ways and your ideas about the fishing, day and night cycle will help reinforce the calm nature of the game.
Yes, I ticked the convex mesh collider to save time because there are so many assets if I did each one of them i'll lose valuable time in other areas. Thank youuuu Laksamana for enjoying and by the looks of your boat, finishing my game, it means so much to me :D
This game surprised me a lot! I liked it so much that the very loose connection to the theme didn't really matter to me. The atmosphere in the game immediately puts you in the mood to explore and take in the sights.
It would be even better if the world was more dynamic like having a day/night cycle with pretty stars or a rower that plays cute little idle animations or even having the items you collect bounce around like physics objects.
Another critique is that the speed of the boat needs tweaking, it feels too slow at the start and too fast at the end, it made it hard for me to grab the last few items. Alternatively, you could make the colliders on the items bigger so they can be grabbed easier.
Wooow thanks PropellorHat, yes I thought the rotation of the boat and the rotating around the map to find bounties is enough for the theme but based on the comments, I guess its not that obvious. I would like to add a day and night cycle too but I focused way too much on the level design and the water that I have few time left to do other stuff haha. I'll maybe implement feedback after the jam :) Thanks again !
Relaxing indeed! I do like relaxing, slow-paced exploration games like this one. And the visuals are very nice too!
PS: I'm tweeting about games I play from this jam. Here is yours: https://twitter.com/TheAntonSem/status/1430234943528083457
Thank you Antonsem for playing and for the tweet :)
Gorgeous use of these assets. Loved it.
Glad you liked my implementation of assets hacked :)
Relaxing!
Thanks TethysRiver :))
God damn! Great exploration, pacing in on point and the skinner box was doing its job. The bonus? The very outside-of-the-box approach to the theme. 5/5 on everything and easily one of the top 10.
that expressions tho hahaha I tried to put the first item in front of the player for them to know the paddles increase speed but other people didn't catch it. Thanks for playing and for the comment as I don't have any idea if it's good or not besides my judgement :D
Very relaxing game, I really enjoyed it!
Glad you enjoyed it Caro :))
So soothing! Not sure where the theme came in but I enjoyed playing it.
the implementation is subtle and I know its not that obvious but thanks for playing angelica :)
Loved the implementation of the visual. The game is relaxing and fun.
Thanks for the feedback dan :D
I was very impressed by the guality of the water shader. Good job!
Thank you for the feedback internet8 :)
Great game! the movement is a bit slow but quite fun
You can get the paddles to increase speed :D Thanks for playing though
Then what is the treasure?
there are 10 treasures scattered collect them all to win, the paddles are just for speed
Ok
