22min33s and 36 deaths! The last level was really tricky, Skippy died a lot of times there :c

I love the gameplay here! Very cool puzzles and mechanic!

Developer(+1)

Omg, that poor poor chicken! lol

Thanks for playing and for giving feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed it :) We're almost at the end. I hope your game does well.

Submitted

It's so sad when the chick dies :( But a great game!

Developer(+1)

I hope he didn't die all too often lol Thanks for playing and for the feedback :)

Really enjoyed this game! One of the most fun experiences when playing games in this jam. Took me a while to beat the last level but I'm glad I didn't stop and got the ending for Skippy :^D.

I also think the game benefits really well in having a cute character to base the game around, since the player will have more of an emotional connection and not want Skippy to die. I found myself really getting immersed and not wanting for Skippy to be a red puddle because of this :v.

If you're going to make this to a more polished game, capitalizing on that might be good, Maybe adding more interaction around Skippy and the player or something like that.

But these are just recommendations and not really critique since I thoroughly enjoyed the game and I didn't have much to say about it. Maybe the pushing the boxes mechanic was kind of frustrating at some points but that might be just a personal thing. Over all really enjoyed the game!!

Developer(+1)

Omg thank you for such great feedback, and for playing my game :) I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Yea I agree. If I were t continue with this project, I would add a lot more story and focus on fleshing out the character so you feel more attached. I'd probably add in optional stuff like other chickens to save in the levels which you don't have to save. There's a ton of directions to take this, although tbh I'm not sure I will continue with it not.

I appreciate the recommendations. It's always a pleasure to hear ideas from other developers :)

Cute, unique, and interesting! Great job! Was really confused about the torches at first, wondered why they went out so quickly, because I thought the goal was to light all of them when I couldn't see the light to guide Skippy to. Turns out I was totally wrong, haha!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for your feedback :) I’m so glad you enjoyed it.

Yea in hindsight I think that’s a little misleading. I had the light locked off for the first two levels until you hit enough triggers, so I could slowly introduce the mechanics. Sorry about that lol

Its a really nice puzzle, really well done, its challenging but not that hard, well for me, I got stuck on the last level cuz I did not know what I needed to do, I just didn't know that you could put crates on spikes and the spikes would just stay there.

Developer

Thank you for playing and for your feedback! I'm glad you liked it :)

Yea the last level is a bit of a challenge because the mechanic isn't introduced prior, it was fully on the player to figure it out.

Super cute and fun idea! Love the physics of pushing boxes around with the bird too. It felt like it was going to be tedious at first, but after it was revealed you could sprint and interact with objects that made it a lot more interesting. The ending was pretty cheeky too ;) Great job

Developer

Thanks for playing and for your feedback :)

Yea I couldn’t imagine this game without the sprint lol I loved the addition of boxes too, I’m happy you thought so.

Yea I thought it’d be a nice change of atmosphere at the end ;) hopefully little skippy didn’t suffer too much.

Submitted

Also I have to ask, was running down to the left the proper way to finish the final level? Seemed impossible to do it a different way lol

Developer

No, this is an exploit that some people have found. An oversight on my part, or perhaps not since it allows some people to finish lol

Spoilers! The actually solution is to push the box into the first row of spikes while they’re down, theyn pull the lever once more. The spikes won’t come up while the box is on top. Then you’ll have a path to get through ;)

Submitted(+1)

Oh okay I didn't realize the mechanics were so in depth lol. Yeah if I didn't find it right away I probably would have messed around more until I found the actual solution

Submitted

Amazing! Accompanying a chicken from darkness to light feels like a noble act. Great job and cool idea!

Developer

Thank you for playing and for the kind words! I’m glad you thought the idea worked :)

10:10 ; 3 deaths ; Loved it! Love the idea of leading a character with your pointer and using light to obscure and reveal what needs to be done. Well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! I’m glad you liked it :)

Also, only 3 deaths? I believe that’s the least reported so far. Skippy thanks you lol

Submitted(+1)

2 were complete accidents! Tried to be so carful and I let Skippy down :(

Submitted

best game I've played in this jam so far full stars 10/10

Developer

Oh wow, thank you so much for saying that! Thank you for playing and for the feedback, I'm glad you liked it :)

I hope skippy didn't suffer too many deaths lol

This game has my bet for winning the jam! The world was atmospheric with nice music. It had an interesting main mechanic that was well used, with short and sweet levels.

Developer

Win? Nah, there have been too many spectacular games that I’ve seen. But I love the kind words and vote of confidence :)

I’m really glad you have taken to this game so much, thank you so much for playing and for taking the time to give feedback.

I hope skippy didn’t suffer too much lol

one of the most fun games of the jam

Developer

I’m glad you enjoyed it so much! I was really proud of my idea, but the one area I was worried about was it’s fun factor. Thank you for putting my mind at ease.

Thanks for playing and for giving feedback :)

Solid art, SFX and in game tutorial. The mechanic of solving puzzles while a chicken follows a light was innovative but don't feel like it was a home run in the fun factor. I might be alone based on other comments that liked the dual nature of the light solving puzzles while also guiding the chicken - each to their own.

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! (And for the video as it was nice to see someone react to the game).

I’m sorry it wasn’t your cup of tea, but I appreciate you sticking it out as far as you did :)

What an original idea! And you executed it extremely well!

Developer

Thanks you for saying so and for playing. I’m proud of this unique idea and glad you think it came together well :)

Loved the idea and the level design is really good! Great job!

Developer

Thank you so much. I’m glad you enjoyed it :)

Cute game and concept, although I felt like the puzzles were too obvious at times. If that were to be fixed I think the game would have improved a lot. Other than that I enjoyed it! The ending sequence was really cool!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for your feedback! I agree, I felt the levels were too simplistic, but I wasn’t sure if it was just because I knew what to do already. I had some ideas for more complex stages, but ran out of time unfortunately.

Others have stated that the difficulty was good, so if time had allowed maybe easy and hard difficulties could have fixed this. Or unlocking harder versions of each stages after completion.

Thanks again, I’m glad you enjoyed it :)

its very very cool. Thanks for game.

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback :)

I loved the idea, the art is amazing and the sfx are very good as well. One suggestion is to maybe press some button to make the bird stop or follow the light, cause it's very difficult to move and scout nearby zones everything at once, I ended up dying a lot lol.

But great job with this one, nice little game.

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback.

There is a mechanic that I forgot to take out where you can hold the RMB and it’ll keep the light from moving, holding skippy in place. It can be difficult to search and look after him, but that’s where the theme comes into play as you are both connected at all times. The light bulb mechanic was a way to counter this issue, but only ended up being used in one level. So that probably would have helped. Thanks for the suggestion :)

Submitted

Hello, awesome game idea, very fun to play good job!!

Developer

Thank you! I knew it’d be unique, but I was concerned with how much fun it’d be. I’m glad you enjoyed it :)

Submitted

This game was really fun!

The 3D graphics are beautiful, the concept is creative and the gameplay is really good too! ≧◡≦

I never tried so hard to not screw up a puzzle in my life ●﹏● I couldn't risk this cute little guy getting hurt by the traps... although I still fell on a few of them in the end ( T_T )  poor thing

Great work and congratulations on the awesome game!

Developer(+1)

Haha I love how every has built such a strong connection to this little guy. I guess I incorporated the theme of “theme” more than I imagined lol

Thank you so much for playing :)

It’s okay, each time skippy dies it feeds the goblins living in the dungeon, so it all works out lol I’m glad you enjoyed it :)

One of the most creative, and polished game I've played in the jam so far! Loving the dual game function of the mouse cursor lighting the path, and attracting Skippy at the same time.. certainly makes things challenging in an interesting way! The levels are well designed and varied. The end levels with the constant moving blades provides a fantastic adrenaline rush! Plus Skippy is so cute! Very well done on a fantastic game! :D

15 mins 3 sec, 7 deaths! :)

Developer(+1)

Wow such kind kinds, thank you so much :) I’m really glad you enjoyed it and saved little skippy.
