I'll admit, I didn't even try to attack the enemy ships because I was having too much fun kicking the ball back and forth. xD Lots of fun, love the spritework and music!
Well, the kick never worked, and the ball was way too easy to get out of bounds, but honestly this game was still pretty fun! The soundtrack is phenomenal, the sprite work is lovely, and the concept is unique. Great work all around.
Agreed about the kick, could increase the boundaries of the levels so the ball can stay inside the playing field. Thanks for playing!
Love the mech design, town and enemy sprites! I read the other comments first so I had an idea about the controls and was able to do some kicking - I agree it can be fiddly though.

Really good sprite work!
The rock music and the artwork were both great! This should probably be called "Mechvolleyball" though, since the kick mechanic never quite worked. When I changed my approach to just hitting the ball whilst it's in the air, it became a lot more predictable and enjoyable. Perhaps the kick mechanic should be altered to simply lift the ball above the mech's head, assuming the mechanic isn't changed to work as intended in the future.

This was cool. The "kick" mechanic was super spotty though. I spent most of my time doing headies. I wish they didn't go 'out of bounds' every time though. The visuals and music had me hyped up for action, so I was a little disappointed that I couldn't just smash it out. Tighten up collision and you might have something here.

I feel I needed some more testing and feedback. At the beginning it worked as many of you described, but ball rolled away so fast it was impossible to kick it. Then after submitting I realized I could have made some sort of stopping mechanic instead of sticking the ball to the foot

haha jokes aside its a fun concept, and i like how you have to play around with the physics to kill the enemies instead of having a traditional weapon.
However i don't know if i'm using it wrong or if there's a glitch but the kick move doesn't seem to get the ball any airtime, so it was kinda hard to hit the enemies since they all fly :(
So i played in a bit of a weird way where i'd manage to kick the ball to have it reset and try to run under where it spawn to catch it and jump to have it go airborne.
other than this, i dig it, the spritework is crisp and cool and the tune rocks !

Cool! I agree with the others, couldn't get the kick to work even though I noticed the ball sticking to your feet if you're close (it looked like the animation was kicking backwards so I also tried turning around and kicking) but playing more like volleyball or juggling was fun! And lovely pixel art

Thank you for the comments. At the beginning kick used to work as head and chest hits, but ball used to roll away too fast so it made it stick to the player. I guess I played it too much and I am the only one who knows how to use it ^^'
Anyway thanks for the feedback. I guess I will make a small fix when the jam votation is ended, so it can be more playable in future.
Kicking the ball didn't really work but heading it worked a treat. Nice retro graphics and music. Might pay to play with gravity a bit, I think the ball should move and fall faster to up the tempo of the game and increase the fun.
Thanks for playing and feedback, we didn't have enough time to playtest, so we ended up posting like it is now. Time managment was not the best with this JAM hope to improve :)
Yes kicking was a very tricky part, I am not completely satisfied. Anyway if you get near the ball it sticks to the robot to make it easier to kick
I couldn't seem to kick the ball off the ground, so I ended up balancing it on my head and playing like Breakout!
