It was really enjoiable! Cool that you got three bosses and even simple enemies with different behaviors! I like the process of beating the enemy, it’s pretty… juicy? Also pixel effects look spectacular!

The controls are nice polished, though the jump feels a little low.

Your game is really polished !

Super impressive. I really enjoyed the blend of melee combat with shmup-like projectiles.

This is very fun! I can see myself wasting time on this on a full release. The controls felt great, and so did the dashing. I really can't think of any issues I had, except that picking the projectile speed+ sacrifice was the easy choice since the projectiles didn't really move fast in the first place. I think the only boss I died to was the hulk demon.

Really nice and polished game!

Absolutely fantastic. Brilliant execution. Everything felt really good, looked really good, and played really good. Not much more to say than that! Stellar entry!

Really very nice game, I appreciated the background music, only the sound effects were a bit high.It would have been nice to also have a main menu but for being done in 3 days overall between sprites and music it's a really nice game.

This is a banger. The art is mastered : music and sfx, feedback and animation, colors are great ! Boss fights are well designed. Truly a Good game

Very good and polished game for a game jam!  It's a shame it's only have 3 votes, people should play it more. Think about a WebGL build maybe?
Keep up the good work! Nice done!

Developer

Thank you!

I didn't add the cover art and the screenshots until recently so it makes sense that people have slept on it. Making WebGL builds of LÖVE 2D games can be a bit cumbersome but I'll look into it for a non game jam version.

Loved the game and I think it is one of the best from this jam. Almost everything is so good.

  • Firstly the attack animation and camera shake is right on point and feels very nice. The dash also feels good to use. For the jumping I think it needs some improvements: 1. Add coyote time to your jumps 2. Sometimes when pressing jump it wouldn't jump, maybe add some milliseconds when pressing jump button to see if it is near ground, so when it reaches ground it would jump again.
  • Moving to enemies design. Enemies are decent, there is variety, but the problem is that, they don't give any value if you kill them. At first I killed some, but then I just skipped all of them to get to the bosses. So maybe adding some reward for killing them would be great.
  • Okey bosses design. 2 bosses felt challenging(especially when sacrifized to give them speed),which is great. I think the best boss is that jumping man by far. Having to constantly switch between dodging and attacking is what makes bosses great. So other two I didn't enjoy very much, because you wait and dodge until they come down and after a few seconds they go up again. So yeah making more bosses like that jumping man boss would be awesome. And one more point, that rectangular boss, in the right, on the second run got very borring, when I sacrifised for 2 bosses aggresivnes and 2 for projectile speed, it would stay up for about 5 to 8 seconds and then come down for 2 sec. So it took way too long to kill it.
  • And finally the sacrifise mechanic is very good and I really enjoyed it, don't have anything else to add.

So yeah loved the game, would love to see more.

Thanks for playing my game!

Much of the game didn't come together until the last few hours and the bosses had to be scaled back in both scope and difficulty but I am glad the pockets of extra effort I spent on those encounters paid off.

I will probably clean up the game and make a post game jam version with some of the feedback I've gotten in mind, so I really appreciate the long post. :)

Congrats on the second place. This game really deserved it.

Developer

Thanks I never thought the game would be this well received! I recently updated the game due to all the great feedback.
