I was only able to solve the roman numeral puzzle. Game too big brain for me. :(

Developer

Don't feel bad that was quite a tricky one and you still got it! :)  Also it's my fault I should've worked on some of the easier levels I had planned first. Will be updating the game soon after the jam. Thanks for playing, I appreciate it!

At first I was very discouraged but pushed through and managed to solve all the puzzles! I got the trick on the first four for sure, but for the last one I'm not so sure. I actually managed to solve it by accident and then spent a long time trying to understand the mechanics. I think I got it but I would love to get the confirmation because there is one unclear point that undermines my theory. I loved this game! The puzzle with the cup I solved at random though, and I understood after why it worked x)

Amazing game and very creative puzzles! I can understand how they would be a bit tough for a game jam, but actually if you do more puzzles like that I would be thrilled to try them out!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! I am so happy (and relieved) that someone managed to finish the game! :D It probably wasn't the best idea to make a game like this for a jam because these puzzles definitely require you to take a break and come back later to try again. Thanks so much for pushing through and not giving up, it means a lot. I was planning on adding easier levels in the update but now I might just add a few harder ones too for you and anyone else who enjoys these kinds of puzzles!

Spoiler for the strawberry puzzle: Number of moves = strawberries that light up = any strawberries that you can reach going up/down/right/left without hitting another strawberry or candy.

Thanks again for the kind words!

Developer

Hi, it's taken me a while to update the game but I've finally added a few more levels (some easier, some harder). Feel free to give them a try if you're still interested. :)

Submitted(+1)

I love the cryptic nature in the puzzles! How do you even come up with puzles like this?

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and the comment. Anyone could make puzzles if they've played enough of these kinds of games and trust me there are puzzles much harder than these out there!

Submitted(+1)

Have you played the MYST saga? I heard these are very good puzzle games.

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

Oh yeah those puzzles are wickedly hard. There are some really cool puzzle games here on itch as well. You can try some here:  https://confoundingcalendar.itch.io/. (They're all just one level but require some clever tricks to solve). This one's particularly cryptic: https://studio369.itch.io/house.

Hi.

Developer(+1)

Oh hi there! Loved your game so thought I'd recommend it. :D

Wow my brain is melting. I like the way you think about limitation and theme :) I am not good at game like this and only finish 3 level but with your tips. Nice music, relaxing and comfortable graphic. I like this game, but I am too bad to play it :D Also like others say add tutorial. On the first attempt, I click anywhere and don't know what I am doing. But respect for make puzzle game, I wouldn't have been so brave <3

Developer

Hey 3 out of 5 is pretty good even with the hints! Thanks for playing and the feedback. I'll definitely be releasing a post-jam version with a gentler difficulty curve.

Submitted(+1)

Nice to hear that :D After release please inform me I will gladly play again :)

Developer

Hi, it's taken me a while but I've added a few easier levels along with a short tutorial and hint system if you're still interested. :)

Submitted(+1)

Hi, sorry I am only now writing back :c Thanks for your message, cool that you remembered. <3

I just played your game, good job. The difficulties of game raising per level. I like new idea.  Nice that the game saves the state :) I have today more time than after Gamejam so I can spend more time and figuring out the puzzles. Like I said  before, I suck in logic game, that's why I'm all the more happy :3

If I can suggest something, maybe try to add keyboard arrow in the levels where you have arrows button (left/right,up/down). The same for alien language, add all keyboard (without some letters). Also I had moment where I dont't know that I can comeback to menu. Maybe add some message on the left corner with information "press esc to back" or something.

Do you plan to develop the game further?

Developer

Oh wow! Thank you so much for trying the game again. I didn't expect anyone to after such a long time! And congrats on finishing the levels, I'm so happy that you got them all!

Your suggestions are great and I'll incorporate them into the game when I get some time (right now I'm a bit busy updating my new game for the Adventure Jam). I'm done with the game for now, but if I get ideas for more levels in the future I'll work on it.

How's your game coming along? Are you still planning on working on it? I really liked it!

Thanks again! :D

You are welcome :)

Nice to hear that :) What game you made now? If you finish send me a link please. I will gladly play.

My game, I thought about it after jam, made some changes but I dont feel it. I have no idea what direction the game should go.

After last Ludum Dare (where I made action game with two my friends from job) I started new project. It will be turn based strategy game. If you want check how it's going here I shared some video https://www.reddit.com/r/godot/comments/143s9m4/i_am_working_on_my_new_hex_turn_...

I would love to hear your opinion if you have time of course :)

Developer

It's this one: https://darqwerful.itch.io/the-lost-borealis-expedition. But I'm still working on an update based on player feedback so I'd recommend playing it after that.

Your strategy game looks so cool! It seems to have some really detailed systems and mechanics. Would love to play it once you release it! :)

I want so badly to be smart enough to beat these levels. But, if I'm being honest with myself... I just straight up don't know what I'm supposed to do. I'll have to come back and bang my head against these levels a few more times... but for now, you have bested me with your extraordinarily large brain.

Developer(+1)

These levels are hard and I'm sure it was much easier for me to design them than it is for someone to solve them. I had planned more easy levels to get players used to the idea of this game but just couldn't get to it in time. I've added a hints file that should help. Thanks so much for playing, I really appreciate it!

Submitted(+3)

Oh, this one is difficult haha. I managed to beat 2 out of the 5 main puzzles (the cup and the strawberry), the concept of the game is definitely interesting but I agree that it loses the player a little bit. If it had one super challenging level and other 4 easier ones, it could give more motivation to work on the harder one. On a brighter side, I think it's a super creative idea. The visuals are clean and remind me of some games like Feel the Magic XX/XY for the NDS.

I attempted all of them for some time, I really wanted to beat the exercise one, and ended up with something that seems out of a meme:

"Mom, I want UP"

"We have UP at home!"

"UP at home:"

It was my best effort, though, I swear!! haha

This was the one that seems at the same time the most cryptic and the most enticing one (I don't know if I was just a dummy haha).

Anyhow, I like it! I might come back for this "exercise" one.

Developer

Hahaha that is brilliant! I agree, I should've added more easy levels. Initially, I had planned 10 levels with at least 3-4 really easy ones. I just couldn't finish them in time but I will be doing it after the jam. In the meantime, I've added a hints file to help players. Thank you so much for taking the time to try all the levels and your comment. It means a lot! :)

Submitted(+1)

I think making a small yt video showing how to do a level might really help out with people understanding what to in your game. But nice attempt at your puzzle game.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I've added a hints file.

Submitted(+1)

Man i struggled with this.

Developer

Yeah the game is definitely a little hard. I'd be happy to give you a hint if you're interested. Either way thanks for trying the game! :)

I liked your game! Sadly I only figured out the right-most level in the Web version but I´m sure I´ll return to this to try and make sense of the other levels too!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for taking the time to play my game, I really appreciate it! Also, you managed to figure out a puzzle that I thought was quite hard so well done!

Submitted(+1)

I ran into the same issue as feraswheel, I simply had no idea on what I was doing, spend some time on a tutorial next time!

Developer

Each puzzle has a different set of rules that you need to figure out to solve it. If you're stuck, you can go back to the menu and try another. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Even so, this is a gamejam game, you have to understand that people are not going to invest 10-25 minutes of their time in order to get a grasp of your game. I suggest that next time you make the set rules easier to discover, that way more people can enjoy your game.

Developer

Fair enough! Thanks for the feedback :)

Submitted(+1)

Honestly didnt know what i was doing here....

Starting small, with a clear explanation (like your explaining to a little kid) is needed in games that have 10+ buttons... unless im just stupid. lol

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for playing! I wanted rule discovery to be a part of solving the puzzles but of course it's not fun getting stuck. You can always go back to the menu with M/Esc and try a different level. I was planning on replacing the numbers on the level buttons in the menu with icons to let players know they could try levels in any order and also making some easier levels but time got away from me.
