Interesting take on the limitation!

This is so up my alley! Had so much fun, did all the levels, messed around on free play, love the art and sound. As other commenters have said some other layouts (I enjoyed restricting the board size with rocks in free play to figure out some basic behaviours) might help make the puzzles less of a gambling/pattern matching game but goodness it’s fun to watch and impressive that it works at all. And the idea of the goal being periodic patterns! Excellent interpretation of the theme, has such pleasing mathematical symmetry while also kind of thematically working to represent a sustainable ecosystem?

My advice, were I musing on ways to heighten the experience further, would be to provide a ‘step’ mode that lets you see the effect of advancing one iteration at a time… I think that would help a lot to teach/internalize the basic rules.

Fantastic job! Genuinely my favorite game this jam so far :)

Oh, I also noticed that you can place the same item on top of itself, consuming your items without changing the board state. It doesn’t really do any harm because resetting is easy, just thought I’d mention as something that does feel like a bug.

Thanks for the feedback, it's really lovely to hear! I had thought about adding a single step button but didn't get to it in time. The placement issue is also a product of the timeframe, I kept the logic simple to avoid potentially introducing bugs. If I take it further I'll build out the system so I can restrict which tiles are editable, that should make it easier to gradually ramp up the difficulty of the puzzles.

Super chill vibes. I was able to get 1, 2, and 5 by just doing some pretty basic pattern matching on the start screen. My brain isn't big enough to do more than that tho :) Art is super cute, concept and limitation are outstanding, and the music could just live in my brain forever. Wonderful submission overall, great job

Original take on the limitation. Fun to play and nice art!

At first, the tiles reminded me of the game Minesweeper we played back in the day. Then I understand it is a very creative and unique approach to the limitation. Great job team! I love the hand-drawn arts seeing them growing  <3

Fun game! i like how you get the noun for the game as experience instead of game lol

Wow, what a great way to take the limitation. Genuinely wonderful game that brought me great gobbits of dopamine. Hard to get good at, feels like you’re rolling the dice more than making informed decisions, but with that music it was just the most chill experience ever and good fun.

Thanks for the feedback! I think the puzzles would work better with more restrictions and different map layouts but I did what I could with the time I had. Glad you enjoyed it :)

its not very puzzling, but cool patterns 10/10

Yeah, it's difficult to come up with puzzles that aren't either very simple or hard enough that brute-force/trial and error becomes the best approach. I stuck the free play option in there because it kind of works better as a toy than as a game.
