It feels really great to be able to have a fight like in an anime, but sometimes the attacks are so fast that when you're about to attack, it can happen that he makes a red zone right then and attacks before you can even react. But nice game :3

I made it, after many hours of practicing dodging, patterns and attacking.

You surpassed all my expectations for a game jam. Never imagined I will spend more than an hour in a small jam game. After killing every phase I screamed "THERE IS MOREEEE???". I really had a nice time playing and felt so rewarding after finishing it. Never played a soul game in my life but after your game, I probably will .

I don't have something to suggest as I'm not very familiar with soul games but I would like to see more. Maybe you can  add levels with some basic story line and more enemies/player attacks.

Also the grid system was the perfect fit.

Generally an easy 10/10 submission

CONGRATS! not many people are said to have beaten it yet. So exciting to see someone else do it haha.

Would love to keep working on it, but got other things I gotta work on first. But it's definetly gonna be high up in my project ideas.

Thanks for playing and enjoying the game so much you took the time to beat it!

Peak!

Genuinely one of my favourite games of the jam. I worked my ass off trying to beat that first phase just for the cheeky second phase (which I never managed to beat).

The game feels great to play and gave me the experience that a souls-like usually provides but without the complex animations that leave me guessing where the hitbox is, making it much easier for me to actually dodge attacks.

I love this game, would love to see more of it in the future.

9 demon dogs out of 10

thanks for playing!

If it's 9 demon dogs out of 10, where is the last one hehe

Brilliant idea, I love the gameplay.

I love the concept but the difficulty is absolutely brutal.

You've really captured the tension in soul-like combat between the most effective way to play (lots of patience and not overcommitting to attacks) versus the most fun way to play (swing wildly and hope to dodge). I'll have to come back to this later to give it more time but what I've seen so far is great, the frantic music helps push the player to push their luck, it's difficult but fair - every hit I knew I could have avoided if I was playing tighter. My one criticism would be the enemy movement, it occasionally seems like they teleport through you which is a bit disorienting, moving smoothly between positions might make it feel more natural.

Thanks! I am glad the feeling was captured!
I could totally see how that would be disorienting

Im not a good enough gamer but this was still very fun, the souls like game play somehow works well on a grid.

I do love my grids hehe, thanks for playing!
Its very hard so don't worry if you cant beat it.
