Love the animation and art style.
Really good game the art and sounds really get you into it but I think the very first guard got bugged or something he wouldn't move making it really hard to get past him.
This is just a bomb!
Very atmospheric. Great graphic design. Much has been done in such a period of time!
This is my first jam and it seems to me that the main goal of such jams is to create a working idea that can be continued.
This project can grow into a good and big game!
I am amazed of how much you have done in a short period of time, the animations and gameplay were all smooth and nicely polished! One of my favourite in this Jam!Kudos!!
Excellent artwork and smooth gameplay, though jumping onto items to climb them felt a little off. Like, it was too sticky or something? Overall, well done.
Great game! Only issues I ran into was the animation bug and some weird wall jumping behavior. Art is really clean and the sounds/music were well-picked. Fantastic work as always.
Yeah that 'animation bug' has caused me a headache throughout a lot of my games sadly.
I must be doing something wrong with my state transitions or unity's bone/skin doesn't work as smoothely as I had intended ( It's probably something I am doing wrong ).
The weird wall jumping behaviour is something i didnt experience, however I know it isn't the smoothest when jumping off onto structures.
Thank you for your kind words as always :)
how long did you make the game? it looks great!
The artwork was all done as vector drawings within affinity designer.. its like an illustration program, Usually i draw out the games assets as if the game was paused. Having a full picture I can add objects into to pad and feel the 'scene' lets me know it looks complete, suprisingly this is all very quick and easy for me and the artwork doesn't take more than 4 hours so.
The character script was heavily modified from an old script I used in an old jam and repurposed to fit what I needed. The majority of the gameplay elements dont take long, building the level doesn't take long.. but I do find the bits that take a lot of my time without realising is polish.
Enemy AI is really wonky and doesn't work as well as intended.. i probably wasted way too much time on them considering the final result doesn't really react as I wanted.. Overall I spent about 11 hours a day from 6pm > 5am ( I have kids so I was very tired the whole time)
Total of 33 hours.. not bad.. but could of been much better if I utilised my asset creation better.
Artwork being finished first really inspires me to achieve the 'feel' when working through crunch time, dealing with bugs and stuff. :)
Thanks for playing :) I'm opting to give really in depth responses, so hope you dont mind the long response :)
this is a really comprehensive answer. but I don't mind)
Very nice game! The things that you climb on were very dark making them hard to see against a very dark background.
Thank you for your feedback, I will look to fix this in a future patch :) It wasn't the first time someone mentioned it however it slipped off my todo list some how.
Oh My God. I can't believe that You did it within 72 Hours. Really Nice Work. I've enjoyed the game. Nice Graphics, Nice Concept. Best of luck brother.
Thank you! honestly I spend probably more time than I should within these 72h jams and manage to get quite a lot done.. always could do with more time though right? :D thanks for playing!
Very nice work! Controls a little wonky (got stuck in a frozen animation) but otherwise, really good
yeah i found this bug multiple times during testing and noticed when you spam roll and moving it can end in locking up the state. pressing T will reset you back to normal. hope it helps. thanks for playing :)
Very nice work!
the art is superb as usual, the controls feel smooth and the ambience is very polished.
Only comment is that you can trigger dialogs multiple times, and they stack, otherwise, flawless interpretation of the theme and limitation.
Thank you.. it's really crazy how much sound can add to the overall feel of the world, if I had more time I would of loved to invest more in that area. sadly searching for the right sounds just takes too much time. I think I need to build a personal library of platformer sounds to use each jam lol.
I'm really happy you enjoy my game and your compliment about visuals is still flattering as usual!
Lol! the audio stacking was on my to do list and I totally forgot! haha I guess it's a small price to pay for the finished game. Thank you for playing! :)
