It was interesting game and i enjoyed ! For first time I couldn't play but help was useful and after that I found how to play. Art and background views made a unique world of cards and was beautiful style. About gameplay I couldn't understand when player dies or maybe I was eternal :D
Thanks for your feedback.
Because the game has a lot of luck elements involved, I decided to go with a system where the player cannot die or fail. Instead, the idea is to try to get as high a score as possible. It's less about not dying, and more about making it through the gauntlet with as many tokens as you can.
Hmm . . . Nice job !
I really liked this Idea. Cool use of the setting. The interplay between standard attacks and special was really well designed.
However, I found it difficult to tell whether I was actually aiming at an enemy or not.
Thanks! Yes, I'll admit the aiming can be a little awkward. I tried to err towards making it more generous to compensate.
Really cool and unique game! The crazy eights were the funniest opponent in my opinion ^^ For just 3 days you came up with a bunch of content! Lots of different enemies, good job.
Thanks! I'm happy you enjoyed it!
Really cool take on black-jack. Love all the card puns!
Glad you liked it! I do love me some puns!
SOLID 10/10
Thanks!
Holy... this looks REALLY clean visually and thematically considering we only had 3 days. Even the tutorial feels polished! Your eye for a colour palette is great. Sound design and music is pretty good. Most people look at the limitation and instantly think "space" or "alien planet", you took it and came up with something completely unique. Nice job!
Thank you! I'm touched by your comment. Glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing game. One of the favorite games I played.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
I really like the Blackjack combat system. Very clever and well implemented!
Thanks!
this was so so fun to play and such a clever concept, I loved it. the art and music is fantastic and really compliments the game. this is one of my favorites from this jam for sure. amazing job!
I think this could make a fantastic mobile game if you tweak it a little.
again, really smart idea and really well executed.
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Nice sprites and concept, i didn't understand what i was doing, after a few attacks and special attacks i realized that i could kill them, i'd make the tutorial on play to avoid skipping it. Nice game!
Thanks for playing! I figured it was better to have the tutorial easily accessible from the title screen than to saddle the player with it every time if someone decided to replay the game.
As all the other have said this game was not only original and intresting but also very polished and enjoyable to me who doesn't play blackjack. The tutorial was a good introduction into the mechanics and the dalogue and boss fights intresting. Great Job!
Glad you enjoyed it! I'm happy to see my tutorial did a good job for you.
This game felt really polished, I could tell a lot of time was put into this. I enjoy this beatemup with gameboy style graphics and the NPC dialogue. The fact that I don't have to understand Blackjack to play is appreciated.
Thanks for playing! It was pretty important to me that it be accessible to people who aren't familiar with Blackjack, so I'm glad that got through.
This game was certainly unforgivable with the card dealing (And not in a bad way XD).
But honestly, I have to say, this game was amazing! It felt like I was in a professionally made game with an adventure mode to it. I loved the use of the concept you used their with blackjacks and the music and dialogue really tied it in overall as well. The different mobs and bosses as well were a really nice touch to the game as well.
The only suggestions I could probably say is to have the dialogue in the middle nextime please. I had to keep focusing my eyes away from the screen to read the dialogue and attack.
Also, maybe make the swinging animation faster perhaps? I was at level 3 and there were so much bats and I couldnt swing at them all fast enough.
Not that these were a big problem of course, but overall, this game was awesome!
Glad you enjoyed it!
My rationale for putting the dialog in the corner was that I wanted it to be readable at the player's convenience without interrupting gameplay. With a bit more dev time, I would probably have had it pop up in the middle instead, but I went with something that could be quickly implemented. It's true that this makes it a bit tricky to read.
I made the special attack on the slower side so there'd be a bit of a challenge with timing it. That might not have been best. (Alternately, maybe I should have made it able to hit multiple enemies at once, rather than just one.)
Ahhh thats understandable since the gameplay is more important overall in the jam.
The multiple enemy hit would of indeed been a nice touch to the game.
This was a vee enjoyable game. Congratulations!
Thanks!
This is an exceptional jam entry. Everything is very consistent and polished, the concept is brilliant, the gameplay is enjoyable, the colour schemes fit well together, the music selection sets the mood... yeah~!
Overall a truly great jam game, thank you for submitting~!
Glad you liked it!
The best game I have played so far! :D
The concept with using blackjack as a combat system is very unique and works well, although it was a bit hard in the beginning. There is also a story which I really like and the artwork is amazing, the music also fits the game.
The bosses are extremely cool, my favourite one was the first one, and I am surprised by how many different enemy types you have created in such a sort time, good job!
Your praise means a lot! Thank you! c:
So well made! Took a while to grasp the concept, but nicely done!
Thanks for playing! Glad you liked it!
easily the best game for the jam hands down.
for one it runs and works, that beats about 90% of them, and there's actually substance to this game so it beats the other 10%,
Good job
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! This is a great idea. Doing calculations and actions at the same time can be very difficult, even if each is simple.
For most enemy characters, the strategy of "make roughly 17 or more and hit them" seemed more reliable than worrying about calculating the numbers.
On the other hand, I found the 8 fixed enemies and the last boss to be very interesting.
My score was 258.
Thanks for playing! I loved your game!
I found it a little hard to understand the combat system, but once I did it's very clever!
Thanks for playing!
