A very charming game. I liked the art, animation, and music. I wish the shooting sound effect were quieter. I also think that a health bar would have made the gameplay feel more interesting. Really though, this is a very impressive game for a 3 day jam. Well done!

Developer

thank you so much! I actually thought the same about the shooting noise so I turned it down, guess I could've turned it down some more. I'm glad you had fun! thanks for playing :)

Amazing game :D

One of the best game jam games I ever played !

Developer

oh man that's sweet of you! thank you so much, what a nice thing to write <3

Nice game! Levels had appropriate challenge, but because one couldn't die the game flow was not interrupted even when being hit multiple times. Visuals were great, I especially liked the boss planets. Music and sound effect were good too. Overall enjoyable experience.

One thing you might want to consider if continuing to develop the game, is to add some indicators when the player has been hit. Now for example the lasers went trough the player so the first time I was hit, I though I just barely avoided the laser and noticed only later that I was losing points. Perhaps destroying the laser objects when they hit player would make it visually more clear that the laser actually hit the player. Maybe also make the sound  sound effect clearer/louder.

Developer

Thank you so much! I don't think I'm gonna keep developing this one, I used it to learn the basics for a bullet hell game. thank you for the notes tho, that's good advice. thank you :)

sorry had to edit my comment it mixed up the pages. but for this game I love the music and concept of this game great messages throughout the levels

Developer (2 edits)

to that's ok, I was fast asleep while you streamed, wish I could've seen it live. Thanks for playing my game on your stream! Glad you had fun :)

The music and visuals were very good!

Developer

Thank you! I'm so glad you liked it :)

It was a fun game with a great use of the limitation, great art and sound/music! The only real issue was not being able to hold down the space bar/LMB to shoot, and that there wasn't much diversity in the shooting really.

Overall, a very well put together game! Just needs some sort of automatic shooting.

Developer

noted! thank you so much for playing! really appreciate it!

Cute and charming game, with awesome gameplay. It would be even cooler if there was some kind of background music)

Developer

There is background music. quite a lot of it to be honest. maybe try the downloadable version?

Developer

but also, thank you so much for playing! happy you liked it :)

I loved this, the game was very cute, the story was delightful, the concept was amazing. Gameplay-wise it could use some polish, I'd really like to be able to just hold down the mouse button to shoot, enemies were a little predicable but all in all wonderful. I loved those lizards on surf boards.

Developer

well I wrote a thank you comment but accidentally deleted it, so, thank you again. really happy you liked my game and I'll take your input to heart!

Submitted(+1)

That was funny with a cute art style and fairly solid gameplay. One thing that could have been improved would have been if holding the mouse had shot continuously, rather than having to spam mouse clicks. Other than that, good work!

Developer

yay! I'm so glad you got to play it! thank you so much! I'm really glad you had fun. Thank you for your feedback, I'll definitely try to implement it in a future game!

Very cool game with a funny story and nice interludes. Some upgrades to pick up would have been awesome and some kind of feedback on hitting enemies/getting hit. Awesome submission, thanks!

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback! If this jam lasted one more day, I'd probably add just that. I'm really glad you liked it!

The graphics are all stylistically over the place and really shouldn't work together, but they are weirdly fitting for the silly storyline. I really wish I had an auto-shoot button; Mashing space is really not that much fun. Also, even though it's a silly game, I wish there was a little more consequence to getting hit than just losing points (though I'm not sure if you can actually avoid getting hit by Saturn's second pattern?) Still, a fun little experience.

Developer

Hey thank you so much! I couldn't get the auto shoot to work without lagging the game, but I'm sure I'll figure something out till my next try at the genre.  It's a hard thing to balance with the consequences for getting hit, I really wanted the game to be more accessible so I choose to make it easier. If this was a full release, I'd probably add a life system. As for Saturn, as far as I can tell from play-testing , all of his patterns are avoidable, but maybe it's just Dev hindsight speaking.

thank you so much for this feedback and playing my game, really appreciate it.

All bosses are completely able to be dodged, btw.

That was super enjoyable. The story is basic, but cute and the character design is great! Saturn with their gun and the surfing lizards make great opponents! :D

I also liked your decision of not having health, keeping the score high is enough encouragement for myself and as a result no content is skillgated.

Developer

Yay, I'm glad you liked it so much. Saturn and the Lizardman are my favs too ;)

I'm glad you liked the choice with the score, I try to make my games as accessible as possible exactly for that reason.

Thank you so much for the feedback!

Very good job!

I think the story is good and I really like that you spent time and added cutscenes. The bosses are also very unique and the fact that you have 3 of them plus a bunch of enemies is really impressive.

As someone else mentioned I think that losing points when hit makes it feel like there is no real punishment to being hit, so maybe some kind of life system would work better, but overall I think you did a good job :D

Developer

Thank you so much! I definitely lost some sleep to make all of those bosses feel unique and fun. I don't like punishing the player for mistakes, especially in these short game formats, cause I value a short and sweet experience over a short but hard one. but that's just personal preference. the fact that so many of the comments mention the lives system gave me some new ideas on how to make a forgiving life system, so thank you for the feedback!

Nice game. But I agree with the other comments.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Would love to hear more about which parts you agree on, if you'd care to elaborate :)

This was really nice! And very impressive for such a short time, I loved the unique bosses the cute story and the art all around. This was great but I have some tips:

- A health system with health pickups would really help since losing points isn't really that big of a deal when you are invincible so the game doesn't really have stakes

- Some audio like the main music only came out of one headphone, so that's probably a wrong setting somewhere

-Normal levels could be trimmed since the bosses are considerably better so the actual levels feel a little slow and boring.

- A little hit indicator such as making the enemy sprite flash white and maybe some screen shake would go a loong way making you feel more powerful and making the game more fun.

These are just tips because the game is great already! If you want to spend some more time with it to make it even better I think some of my tips will help. Hope you can check my game as well :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for this detailed response. I really appreciate it.

I like making my games easy, so didn't really wanna bother with a health system for this one.  I'll check the audio thing you mentioned. it worked fine for me, but maybe it is a setting issue.  you're definitely right about the level length. If i had a bit more time on this jam I would definitely trim them and make the boss fights a bit longer.  I totally forgot about the hit indicator! it was on my to do list and it slipped my mind! good catch.

I'm probably not gonna expand on this one, but I will participate in the bullet hell jam and use what I've learned from making this one!

thank you so much for this feedback. it is greatly appreciated.

I'll be sure to check out your game asap!

Lovely game :) I found it a bit easy since you can't die but enjoyed it nonetheless. The story and art was beautiful and the game made me laugh at some places. The bullet patterns of the bosses were what I liked most though, nice work!

Developer

I try to make games even my wife could complete, so easy is a given. Thank you so much for playing the game, I'm really happy to read you've liked it. I worked really hard on the bullet patterns so I'm really happy someone noticed :p

Submitted(+1)

I'm just getting a black screen in the web version. Am I doing something wrong? I'll try downloading later.

Developer(+1)

The game is a bit on the chunky side, so it might just be loading.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the downloaded version tho, hoping it will work for you! <3

Submitted

I'll definitely let you know my thoughts when I try it!

Really fun! These types of games are always a blast to me.

Well, i think you have five stars at the limitation, and it is a good game so you will have good ratings

Developer
