I just felt like I would have consumed drugs, but this speed was a lot of fun. The game got a bit to hard at the beginning, but I loved the design and especially the sound.

Developer

So glad you had fun! Thanks for playing and rating.

Cool level design and world building! Really polished for a game jam game, awesome. I enjoyed the game overall, but unfortunately I am in the camp of 'the player moves too fast'. More than worthy entry to the current jam!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and leaving feedback! Glad you enjoyed.

Nice game! I really like the the level of difficulty, pretty challenging! Nice art and nice voice effects.

Good job!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you had a good time.

That was pretty amazing. The voice overs were great, although I got tired of hearing how those rocks were unstable after retrying so many times haha. I was starting to rage but felt compelled to finish it which I think is a sign of good design.

Well polished game for a short period of time. Kudos.

Developer

Thanks so much! It's always great to hear someone liked the game enough to finish it.

I realized quite late that the voices were too repetitive. If I do a post-jam edition, I will definitely address that!

Fun game, nice and clean :) Good job!

Developer

Thanks so much! I'm happy you enjoyed it.

Nice game, the speed of the character felt good and the voice-over lines were well done.

Developer

Thanks so much. There are some differing opinions about that speed. Many players felt that the speed was too high; you are the second to say it felt good.

Great graphics, and I love voice acting.

Developer

Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed.

😆 that one was fun, the movement it's a bit frustrating though but that way reforce the idea of been pressed.

Developer

If I do a post-jam edition, I will definitely experiment with a slower speed.

Thanks so much for checking it out!

Very cool world! The speed of the character was a little bit fast imo, but it was definitely still enjoyable. The amount of variation, polish, and background story that you were able to put into it in such a short amount of time is really impressive.

Thanks so much for playing, so glad you enjoyed!

This was an impressive amount of work in such a short window of time!!! Love the visuals and story telling. The color scheme works out pretty well as i can clearly make out what's interactable. I have some feedback for you:

1) The bird with the fire balls, man those can be quite tough to get around especially the last spaceship area. Maybe have the shoot interval to be longer for my personal taste

2) There are times where I would fall in between the collapsing blocks and fall in the lava lol. In addition, I sometimes can't move when i happen to land a little in between the blocks. Not sure if its a glitch with the collision hit boxes in Unity.

3) I love that you have checkpoints or this would have been a brutal game lol

Awesome entry man and congrats on finishing such a polished game!!!

Developer

Yay, another player who finished the game! That's awesome. :)

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback.

1) If I do a post-jam edition, I might try making those enemies a bit less aggressive. Good suggestion.

2) Unfortunately, I was aware of this issue, but I was unable to fix it before the deadline. The falling blocks are independent gameobjects that do not belong to a tilemap; all their behavior is coded. I suspect that collisions are occasionally taking place outside the FixedDeltaTime intervals (1/50 sec), but I am not sure why, or how to fix it. Perhaps the underlying problem is the very high gravity I use for the player. I'll need to dig deeper...

3) I actually thought there should be more checkpoints, but by the time I had that idea, there wasn't much time to implement it.

this is another of my favorites of the entire jam. but i have to say the first time i heard the voice over it scared the shit out of me lol, i was not expecting the full voice acting on what looked like a late 80s retro game. I loved it enough that i beat the whole game, but those birds were so damn annoying by the end. curse that bird that dives right at you

Developer

Sorry the voice scared you. :) I know it's a little incongruous with the visual style, but voiceovers are so fun to make.

Yeah, the hawk-like birds are pretty aggressive. I was thinking of not including any in the rocket level, but... I just couldn't resist.

Thanks so much for giving it a go, and for sharing your feedback! It's always really satisfying to hear that someone liked my game enough to actually beat it.

You seem to have done an impressive amount of work, well done! It's too bad the controls were a bit funky, that kept me from really enjoying it (I would slow down the character and work on the jumps). Maybe the basic enemies shouldn't push the player as much, when the lava is rising this is quite punishing.

Developer

Thanks for playing and rating. Yeah, I tend to work three 15-hour days on these short jams. :)

Most players feel the character move too fast. If I do a post-jam edition, that is one thing I'll look into updating.

Submitted(+1)

This game is really difficult! Gave me Ninja Gaiden vibes. I would definitely refine the jumping so it's a little easier to control. Other than that it's a pretty fun game!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed!

I always struggle with moderating the difficulty, because the difficulty in a sense is the heart of the game. If I do a post-jam edition, I will work on smoothing the controls.

Submitted(+1)

Wow awesome game! "The lava won't stop rising" sound effect gets old after a while if you suck like me XD

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yes, if I do a post-jam edition, I will prevent the voiceovers from repeating.

Submitted(+1)

Nice game.

I like the art. It has an almost retro feel.
The music and sound effects are really nice too.
And just the fact you included voice lines is awesome!

Great Job!!!

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed.

Very cool game! Great art and it was really fun :)

Developer

Thank you for checking it out! So glad you enjoyed.

Fast? I like how it moves. The scenarios and the pixel art is really cool. Maybe I would add a little more juice (dust, particles on jump and fall, etc..) and remove the text wall, but otherwise, beautiful game.

Developer

Good thought, I may add more effects in a post-jam edition.

As to the disagreement about the controls, it goes to show that there will always be some divergence of opinion.

Thank you for playing and rating! I'm glad you had fun :)

My time with Sir David the Learned was so brief, yet so enjoyable.

It's always good to hear someone keen to use voice acting! And I'm a sucker for anything that reminds me of the good old days with commander keen.

Gunna have to give you 5 stars all around!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed!

Really fun - great job - two things, character is too fast (as others have said) and If I have heard a voice line then dont make me hear it every time I die :)

Developer

Right. Making the voice overs not repeat should be fairly straightforward. Redoing the controller will take some thinking...

Thank you!
