This is a phenomenal entry. The music, art and concept were all beyond expectations. At first I tried playing with accuracy but kept dying in the 3rd area. I finally finished after being more aggressive with the gun and then saw ‘accuracy’ listed in the final screen 😂. I liked that the bullets fired off in a diagonal while moving the ship but struggled to get that to work to my advantage, probably just need more practice. Nicely done.
Edit: I also just tried the tutorial and wanted to come back and give some praise for that too. An interactive experience that confirms the player learned the lesson. Plus I like that by the time you’re teaching mixing colors, you refer to the primary colors instead of the keys 👏
A unique and interesting mechanic. Once you memorize the colors the game becomes very addictive. I play very professionally, then I'll go back to play more calmly
Strong solid concept and well-polished!
Notes from gameplay:
- Commands feel a bit overwhelming when reading the itch page. Good move including a tutorial!
- The mechanic to sacrifice life to save the planet sounds compelling on first read!
- Music is funky, beautiful and intriguing. Definitely gives me space vibes!
- Movement education in the tutorial is great, having to navigate to a specific spot really reinforces how it works!
- Art is polished
- Great details with visual feedback on the shift becoming active
- Really cool concept!
Overall, I think you made a great, polished version of a fun concept! I found myself overwhelmed at first, but I think this could be a type of game people find addictive - different controls may help with this. For example, this feels like it would suit a controller well. I could also see a slowed-down version as an educational game for kids. Fun concept, and well-executed!
The presentation is nothing short of amazing. The gameplay is fun and puts an original twist on an established genre.
Great job!
Interesting take on the shoot'em up genre. Definitely original and well done!
Fun twist on a space shooter, and well polished -- I liked the tutorial
I liked this a lot! I reeaaaally love the color mechanic for adding a twist to a spaceship shooter, I thought it was very innovative! Also appreciated the progress bar at the top to help me understand how much of the game was left and how long I might expect to be playing in order to see all the content.
The two pieces of feedback I have are:
1. It took me a while to find the colour map in the top left, it might be more helpful to put it on the bottom right of the screen so it's closer to where my actual fingers are, and if possible maybe there's a way to map the colours to the keys spatially in a line instead of in a triangle (I know that might make it hard for purple, but I found myself getting a bit stuck sometimes looking up to the top left, and then looking at the keyboard under my finger to see the letter, if that makes sense)
2. The other thing I would love to see would be making the L SHIFT button speed up the whole game instead of just the speed of the ship, or some other way for more advanced players to temporarily increase the speed of getting through the easy parts at the start of the game. It felt a little slow for me and I would have loved a way to speed it up more - that way beginners can still have it at their pace, and more advanced re-players can have it at their own pace too.
Hopefully this is helpful feedback, I'm still really impressed with what you managed to make :) well done
Thanks for the feedback, I like your idea of speeding up the game with shift, I also agree the first zone is a bit boring for replaying the game, but its necessary for first playthroughs so your solution solves the problem!
And yeah, the color mixing guide on the left can be improved a lot. Its a thing I made last day for people that were forgetting the controls. I thought about the typical color circles combinations in art class, but with my controls another type of graph would better fit in. But as you said, purple is the hardest to show (and to shoot).
Really enjoyable and addicting game! It enjoyed the difficulty spike right at the end. Also it was a nice touch adding the accuracy at the end, I only got 30% so now I want to go back and improve :D
Great game! Very polished and well done
Beautiful both the game and it's mechanics
I wasn't able to finish it, but I enjoyed matching colors. It would be great ro restore health between areas, or retry since the last checkpoint.
10/10!
I am also colourblind so that first purple one really got me good.
Was considering what you said in another comment about a colourblind mode, you could perhaps make symbols that can be combined which I think would be cool.
Really well executed game. I definitely ended up just spamming a bunch of different colours towards the end, not sure what the best strategy is! Super responsive and refined. Nice work
Very nice game! Super polished! I really appreciate the tutorial! I am very bad with colors (I got a red-green weakness), so the game was hard for me :D
Overall a very good, fun and polished game. Well done! :)
I thought about making a color blindness mode, since my main mechanic was so dependant on colors, but i just didnt have enought time for it. I apreciate you playing it anyways. Glad you liked it!
I love the mechanics and the style. It has a fantastic concept! :D
