If it is true that there is AI generated content, that would disqualify this game, based on clearly outlined rules. Report this submission just in case, so that the hosts of the game jam/admins can review it.

Also, if you use free assets, you are supposed to credit those who originally made them. It's a good gesture to credit everyone for their work, if you decide to use it in your game.

Saw the first character. Saw that it looks bad. Checked the comments. Cringe. FUCK AI

I got to the second scene before turning it off. It's pretty clearly Pokemon assets and I don't really wanna play anymore based on just that.

I'm pretty sure the character art is AI, I can find weird parts and errors that are usual with AI artwork (Emirichu has a weird white floating part behind her shoulder/back, where the shoulder is bigger than her actual back? Her forehead is also grey in the upper part, which is a weird artistic decision. The first character has floating pixels near the hair, the hair melts into the ear and the eyes melt to the face. The neck has green floating pixels from the shirt too. And that's just the first two characters shown!)

The rest of objects/background looks like assets, since the style changes from scene to scene and even in the same scene there's noticeable differences (some have black outlines, others don't, size variation is weird too, rendering of shadows/lights also differs in assets). The blue and white kiosk from emirichu's scene has a weird pattern too, one that you usually see in watermarked assets.

So there's two rules broken:

  • You may use pre-made, publicly available, and purchased assets, or other assets you have the legal rights to use. Just remember to credit properly.
  • Use of Generative AI is not allowed in any way, shape, or form. This includes but not limited to: Audio/Music, Imagery, game assets, and code scripting.

Adding: Japanese Town by guttykreum is the city asset of the first level, copy pasted into the game and no credit given.

Not much actual gameplay here.
Collisions also need some work, the player shouldn't be able to walk off screen or through objects and other characters.
Good job getting something together for the jam though.

indeed, it's pretty obvious imo

The gameplay is a little bit boring and the music can get a bit repetitive after a while
But still a good attempt and I liked the jokes

honestly it looks like the illustrations of the characters were ai generated, so i'm not a big fan. especially considering it's not allowed in the game jam...
