The slopes feel a bit weird with collision, and the jump feels incredibly tiny, making it kinda impossible to avoid enemies. These arent big issues, just hurt how the game feels a bit. Overall, neat idea, and i love the artwork!

Submitted(+2)

The speed at which my hands have gone will set records, and while I got stuck a bunch, it was quite amusing. The art is cute and is well done, good work!

Submitted(+2)

It was short, but it was quite nice! Really love the art, and the enemy hit counter xD A really fun short experience! Love it!

Submitted(+2)

At first I didn't notice I had to aim with the mouse, and I got stuck in a lot of places. I also got kind of hurt from spamming AD so much lol. Still, the art is VERY cute, and there's clearly an idea here, just not enough time. I hope you can fix this game after the jam, it would be lovely to see!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback and you kind words!
Sorry for the controls, we're totally gonna improve them both because we like the idea and all the positive feedback we are receiving!

Submitted(+2)

Nice game sadly I got stuck many times because of the difficult controls but overall it was very fun, good job !

Developer(+1)

thank you for playing our game! πŸ₯ΊπŸ€

Submitted(+2)

thanks for making it !!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing our game! Sorry for the controls πŸ˜… we're totally gonna improve how they work

Submitted(+3)

I really liked the art style and the game concept reminds of the old Track and Field game. I had a load of fun getting to the end and seeing that cool car !

Developer

Thank you for playing our game! We're glad you liked it and that you had fun!

Man my fingers hurt after this one! Adorable game!

Developer

thank you so much for playing the game!! So happy you found it adorable πŸ₯Ί

Developer

Thank you for playing our game! I'm sorry for your fingers :(
We're totally gonna improve the movement system lmao

Submitted(+2)

I didn't notice I had to aim left and right with the mouse so I got stuck at first. Really simple game, not sure what I was supposed to do with the enemies but I won!

Developer

Thank you for playing our game!
The enemies were supposed to be obstacles to be jumped but since we had problems with the movement system it's not possible so they just slow you down :(

Developer(+2)

I didn't notice the aiming thing either and I made the tutorial for them at the beginning lol. You had to shoot bananas  (which we did not make in time) to the enemies or avoid them by jumping (which doesn't go high enough, sad). We know it's not much but we are happy we managed to submit the work we did this time. We will learn more get better! Thanks a lot for playing it till the finish line, that alone means a lot for us

I love the novelty of having A and D acting like a qwop based control scheme and I think it really does actually serve "cycling" as a theme well. The art was cute! The jump was a bit of a weird part of the controls because I assume you want us to jump over the enemies but we gain nowhere near enough height to do that? The camera also doesn't really keep up with high speeds well when you're falling and I found that I was constantly outpacing the camera. The concept of the money counter going up was a cool way to keep score but I was unsure if that was the fruit or my speed doing it. Overall I think the concept is great and I'm sure with a little more time the issues I stated would have been resolved.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!
You got it all perfectly on point, the jump is indeed supposed to be higher and both the camera and the movement needed a more fine tuning. We will try to fix it and maybe add more levels in the future.
The counter is supposed to go up the more you go forward but at the moment it just checks the horizontal axis, the fruits add a bonus to the counter (and a multiplier if you get enough of them)

Thank you for playing our game and analyzing it so accurately

Developer

It was jumping too high so we changed it last minute but didn't realise you couldn't avoid the enemies anymore lol, so yea you can't avoid them in this version but our programmer fixed it for a possible future build. Hope you get to look at the art and the animations while you are stunned by the enemies tho lmao

Submitted(+3)

I really like the idea of pressing "A" and "D" to accelerate the bike but there some issues with the game design like, i really don't understand the "enemies" during the section, the physics are kinda sloppy so these problens make the game not really fun to play but its interesting

Developer(+1)

Thank  you for the feedback! we had some problem with the colliders that caused the sloppy physics but we intend to improve it and fix the problems to achieve a smooth movement system while keeping the concept of pressing A and D!
The enemies are intended to slow down the player, with the proper movement system you should be able to jump them and avoid being hit

we are glad that even with the problems you find the idea interesting, it gives us motivation to improve it!

Developer(+1)

We wanted to put something from each of the 14 days of the Cyclathon. We stopped at the 1st day lmao. It was meant to represent when Connor and Chris went to eat strawberries, there were scary bees, and in the end they went to feed goats before resuming the cycling. We created other assets too but as you pointed out we had issues with the gameplay and the controls... anyway, we will try better next time! Thanks for commenting c:

Submitted(+4)

Yeah... Unfortunately the controls are quite difficult to use. I get the intention of simulating pedaling but it was too tricky especially adding the space and mouse. The art though I thought was really nice!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback and thank you for playing our game!
We were aiming for a smoother experience but failed to achieve it. I'm glad that at least we  were capable to make it almost playable, the next step is making it better!

Submitted(+1)

I wish you luck!

Thank you for the submission!

Summary: Difficult controls, harsh terrain, and the game broke multiple times before I could give a fair review (I don't think the menu buttons work, but nothing a quick F5 fixes), but eventually got the hang of it and blitzed through the game. It's fun when going quick, even though it felt short and I somehow got 16/15 fruit, but it was a cute experience!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! much appreciated

The controls were intended to be kinda difficult but not that much
Sadly we had lots of problems with the colliders and didn't have enough time to search and study what we needed to do to fix it so it works with a lot of patches for corner cases, we're looking forward to improve all this aspects tho and it was fun for a first try with both tiles and a funny movement system!
Something we found out is that when you're stuck you can try to jump and cycle around, most of the times you get unstuck

The buttons in the menu broke around half an hour before the deadline and we were rushing the map creation so we decided to just focus on that and the 16/15 is because I'm bad with math (I didn't count the strawberries)

We also had to redo the level from scratch at around 1 and an half hour from the deadline, that's why it is kinda short, we tried to add verticality but didn't really work into making the level look longer lol

We are proud of the result tho, considering how much time we had!
(+3)

Ohhh my goodness, bless you and your team. That sounds like a nightmare in crunch time. Either way, it was still enjoyable, and even with the buggy colliders, it got a chuckle out of me to watch a goat float off into the endless expanse lmao.

There was a clear goal and idea in mind, and that's what matters at the end of the day. GameJams are sooo limiting in what can be controlled when working under such a restrictive time limit, so the potential means a lot in seeing what can be made. And I found you work to be expected in quality, yet still relatively complete! All these factors needing to be balanced cannot be easy, and I really am happy to hear you are proud of what you've made!

Now get some rest, good lord ahah

Developer(+2)

Thanks for your constructive feedback, also thanks for playing it regardless the  wackiness lol

(+2)

My pleasure! Wackiness is it's own charm, and part of the GameJam experience! Wouldn't be the same without it! ^^

Submitted(+3)

The art style is really nice, but sadly the controls sometimes gave up on me, I got stuck against walls a lot and could not turn and the menu also did not work for me sadly πŸ˜’ But I did manage to progress at least a bit.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback!
Looks like the controls work slightly different on some pcs, when we tested it yesterday it worked fine but now that I'm trying it again with another pc I also have some issues, might be the framerate? idk, we will try to find the cause and fix the problem.
Even with this problem tho I was able to complete the level gaining momentum before the unjumpable slopes (not an excuse but maybe it can help to try reach the last part where we put a lot of effort with the scenery!

Sadly the menus worked just fine until the very end where something broke, we didn't have time to fix it before the deadline :(

Submitted(+1)

Ouh thats very sad to hear, I'll give it another try then, maybe I can also pass the slopes and reach the last part 😊

Submitted(+2)

Actually I MADE IT! I somehow did not realise before, that I ride in the direction of my mouse, so when I got stuck in the wall it was because I had not figured out yet how to turn πŸ˜… But now I made it (even though the slopes took a few tries) and you were right, the scenery was beautiful in the end 😊. But I did not get what the "enemies" where doing to me? Did I loose coins or points? πŸ€” I was very afraid that they would just kill me and it's game over, but gladly that did not happen. Their animations were also nice btw 😊.

Developer(+1)

YAY! I'M GLAD YOU DID IT!
The idea for the enemies were that if you are hit by too many of them your score will be lower
With the jump not working properly they stop you when they hit you and you have to regain momentum

Developer(+2)

Thanks for trying to play it regardless, it motivates us to aim to make something with a smoother experience next time c:

Submitted(+2)

You made the art btw right? πŸ‘€ really awesome job! Looks great! 😊

Developer(+1)

I did most of the art and he did basically all the animations c: also thanks for the feedback!
