Such a well made OST, I love it! The orchestration was really nice and I like the switch from peaceful and intense songs. I can't really say that much since I only have around 3 mins to make this before the submission period ends but from what I've heard you've done an amazing job with these tracks! These sound like something I'd actually hear from a video game, so plus points for that too. Overall just some really good work!
That's all I have to say, have a great day and good luck on the ratings! :D

The fact that you used actual guitar playing to make this is honestly really cool, and I love the rock aesthetic! I think I can agree with Lappytop when they said the song seemed a bit repetitive at times, but that's my only gripe with it and everything is pretty cool! Nicely done! A nice way to end this jam off since this will probably be my last rating.
That's all I have to say, have a great day and best of luck to the ratings! :D
This is such a well done submission, amazing work! Each track has some really nice emotional sentiment if that makes any sense. Funny enough I was caught of guard by the length of the second song lol, but I still managed to finish it. You did an amazing job conveying such a wide array of emotions with these tracks and I find it pretty impressive how long u managed to make the second track. Idk why but the first track kinda reminds me of Undertale for some reason lol. I guess that just speaks to how well made they are. Some really amazing work all around!
That's all I have to say, have a great day and good luck on the ratings! :D
(P.S. I also really like the ending of "Stuck in Time"!)
Such an atmospheric and pleasant track, I love it! I love the textures and overall atmospheric feeling of this track, very well done. The chord progressions and instruments used are also really good, so props on that! I can easily see this track on the background of a calm game as ambient music, so I guess that counts for something as well. You did a great job with this, nice one!
That's all I have to say really, have an amazing day and gl on the submissions! :D
A really solid and well done submission, nice work! A nice blend of electronic and orchestral instruments, I like it. I also gotta give props to the guitar solo in "Untold Stories," it definitely caught me by surprise but it did not disappoint! The intro in "Aquatope" was also really nice, well done!
That's all I have to say, have a great day and gl on the results! :D
I'd say the jam's highlight for me would be how nice and how helpful everyone has been in this jam! Everyone has been given such nice feedback and comments on their submissions and I'm really glad I decided to join this jam. I've never seen such a positive and vocal community before! Have a great day ya'll :D
I saw your post on discord a while back so I saved this to my bookmarks and planned to check it out later. I almost forgot to do so but I'm glad I didn't! This is a really solid submission with such a nice and peaceful atmosphere! Definitely reminds me of an underwater theme from a game like Mario, you did a great job on this one! You did so much while only taking a minimalist approach to the instruments which is pretty impressive in it of itself.
Overall some really impressive work and although you only used a few instruments, you were still able to create such a peaceful and atmospheric track, nicely done! I'm glad this was the track I decided to end my submission reviewing for today.
That's all I have to say really, have a great day :D
As I have promised, here I am!
Some pretty good songs coupled with an interesting story, I like it! I find the idea of each song being used in a different part of a space ship very interesting. For some reason I also like the thought of the game being a life simulator, although maybe that's because I haven't seen that many submissions that have done that yet lol. I also like that each track is so unique from the previous and follows a different genre almost, it makes for a very diverse listening experience!
Overall you did a great job with these songs! You've blended such a wide array of genres into your tracks while also having a pretty interesting story, nicely done!
That's all I have to say really, have a great day! :D
As I've promised, here I am!
WOAH. I love the composition in these tracks, especially the chord progressions! This is some seriously great stuff, you did a wonderful job with these tracks! I think I can agree with quite a few people here when I say that "Midas" is probably my favorite track. The energy and use of instruments is phenomenal! That's not to say the other tracks aren't good tho, all of them have such great compositions and I especially love the chord progression of "Inside My World." Although some of the tracks can be considered somewhat short, they still hold so much emotional weight and are a great listen (I shouldn't be the one to talk tho, a lot of my tracks are also pretty short lol).
Overall you've made such a wonderful OST with amazing composition. Your use of motifs is also greatly appreciated! Definitely up there as one of my favorite submissions purely for the amazingly done composition and sound design, outstanding work!
That's all I have to say really, have a wonderful day! :D
Thank you everyone for commenting and showing your submissions! Some of these were really great and I'm glad I was able to find them. Sadly, I probably won't be able to review anymore as of now so I'll just finish up the ones that I haven't reviewed yet and I probably won't be able to review anymore submissions that come after this comment. Again, thank you for sending all these submissions and I wish everyone the best of luck for the coming days. Have a wonderful day! :D
A really nice and atmospheric OST with an interesting story, nice work! I like your choice of instruments, it makes the OST feel more lightweight and floaty if that makes any sense lol. I'm glad you were able to get this entry in!
Overall just some good tracks with a nice atmosphere and fun story, great work here!
That's all I have to say really, have a great day! :D
A very well made track! I love the transition from the slow and calm solo from the koto-like instrument to a full blown orchestral performance, some really solid work here! I also really like the choice of instruments here, when they all come together it sounds wonderful. I'm so glad you were able to get your entry in!
Overall just a really nice track with a great buildup and good choice of instruments, keep up the good work!
That's all I have to say, have a great day :D
As promised, here I am!
Some pretty decent and interesting tracks! I like the idea that each track represents the emotional state of the characters in the game. I do have one small nitpick tho, and that is I feel as if the tracks lack some variation and I think you could really benefit from changing up the chords and/or notes of some of the instruments sometimes. Aside from that tho, you did a pretty good job!
Overall a pretty nice and atmospheric track, nicely done!
That's all I have to say really, have an amazing day! :D
As I've promised, here I am!
Some really nice tracks paired with a really interesting story! Much like how others have already stated, I really liked the shift in "The Princess and the Dragon." I was originally planning on making my game horror as well, so seeing someone else actually go through with it and make a horror themed OST is really cool! You did a good job transitioning the tracks into their horror elements and I especially love the motif usage throughout the different tracks! I also appreciate the song at the end. I don't see that many submissions that have songs, so it's a nice breath of fresh air!
Overall just some great tracks to go with a nice story! The sound design is also pretty good and the motif that plays throughout the tracks makes them feel more connected, which is a nice addition. Great job!
That's all I have to say really, have a happy day!
As I promised, here I am!
I love the atmospheric nature of these tracks! The addition of synths to the tracks is also greatly appreciated, it adds to the ambience really nicely. I also really like the climax of track two, the combination of synths and the bass go really well together!
Overall just a really well done submission, nice going! I'm curious to see what else you can come up with in the future.
That's all I have to say really, have a great day! :D
Thanks for checking out my submission! I'll be sure to keep in mind the advice you and others have mentioned and perhaps not go so overboard on the quantity of tracks next time LOL. I've also reviewed and commented on your submission and I think you did an amazing job on yours! Again, thanks for checking out my submission and I wish you an amazing day :D
As promised, here I am!
I definitely agree with IndieKev on this one, this OST is criminally underrated! Each track has such wonderful orchestration and choice of instruments, amazing work! I'm excited to see what else you come up with in the future!
Overall just some really well done tracks that I think deserve much more attention, you did a great job!
That's all I have to say really, have a wonderful day :D
As I've promised, here I am!
First song in and I can already tell I'm in for an amazing ride! I can tell how much passion and hard work was put into each and every track, you guys did an amazing job! Everything from the writing all the way to mixing is so high quality, how have I not seen this sooner?? I can easily see you guys get into the Top 20 or heck, even first place! Each track is also so expressive and tells the story you guys wanted to tell so well.
Overall, just some very high quality and amazing tracks that just show how much passion, hard work, time, and love was put into them, outstanding work! I'd love to be able to do what you guys have done someday, but that'll probably years or even decades lol. DEFINITELY up there as one of my personal favorite submissions, you guys did a wonderful job!
That's all I have to say, have an amazing day you guys! :D
As I've promised, here I am!
HOLY, you weren't joking when you said you were also a toby fanboy! I can definitely feel the toby inspiration in each one of these tracks (especially "A Town of Your Dreams") and I love it! You definitely did a great job at making them feel similar yet different from the inspiration (something that I didn't really do that well lol).
Aside from the Toby Fox talk tho, the tracks themselves are also really well made! I can easily see each one of these being used for an RPG game. Although I'm an absolute sucker for boss battle themes, I think I have to give "My Imagination Rules !!" the title of my favorite track here. It's such an uplifting and adventurous track that definitely makes you feel like an amazing journey is ahead, amazingly done! That's not to say the other tracks are not as good tho, each one helps tell this story of yours really well and I applaud you on that.
Overall I really enjoyed this OST! I appreciate the Undertale influence and the instrument choice is also excellent. You did a great job telling the story you had in mind through these tracks and I congratulate you on that! Definitely up there for one of my favorite submissions. Thank you for letting my ears listen to such great tracks, you did an amazing job on these!
That's all I have to say really, have a wonderful day! :D
(P.S. I wouldn't attack Shadow in the final battle just to listen to "THIS IS MY WORLD" over and over again!)
As promised, here I am!
I love the mysterious atmosphere and I think the description "for your mind to fill in the gaps like the music is a mystery" encapsulates this OST perfectly! The calm yet mysterious atmosphere paired with the awesome drum playing makes for a unique yet great listening experience. The eerie "breathing" sound also adds to the atmosphere nicely and could fit pretty well into your description of a higher power being present.
I do have one small nitpick tho, I feel as if the mixing for some instruments could be done a little better (but it's not that big of a deal for me because I'm not really that good at mixing as well lol). Other than that small critique tho, you've done some amazing work!
That's all I have to say really, have a great day!
Tomorrow is the last day of summer before class for me, which means I probably won’t be able to review or check out any many submissions after then. So, if anyone wants their submission to be reviewed I’d be happy to do so!
I’ll admit, I’m not really the best composer in general, so I’ll try my hardest to give a solid review. I’m super impressed by all the submissions I’ve seen so far and I’m excited to find even more amazing tracks tomorrow!
if you have the time, I’d also really appreciate it if you could check out my submission as well (only if you want to, tho): https://itch.io/jam/ost-composing-jam-7/rate/2846539
That’s all I have to say really, have a great day and goodnight! :D
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed my OST as much as you did and I'm glad you found the Undertale influence nice. I spent a lot of time and effort into this so I'm glad that from what I can see, everyone seems to find it alright. Again, thank you so much for the kind words and have a great day!
Thanks for such an interesting post idea! Sorry if the post is long, I wanted to explain basically the devlog of my submission in somewhat extensive detail.
(The Idea)
Coming up with ideas for projects and jams has always been the hardest initial step for me, so for a while I was kinda lost on what I wanted to do and just procrastinated (I have a bad habit of procrastinating and only doing stuff in the last few days ;-;). The idea of my OST only came to me after I found myself once again interested in RPG games such as Undertale and OMORI. I definitely knew I wanted my game to be set in an RPG land with a vast array of areas and characters to interact with. So from there, I started listening to a lot of RPG music such as Pokemon and Undertale to really give me a proper idea of how I wanted the tracks to feel and sound. Funny enough, I was actually planning on making the game have psychological horror elements much like OMORI, but I decided not to go through with the idea due to it being very difficult to pull off well and because I wanted the game to feel more uplifting rather than dreadful.
(The Actual Process) - Read this part for how I actually made the tracks
(I'm not that good at composing so my process might be a bit bad lol) Once I was finished listening to my selected reference tracks, I actually started making the tracks. I composed the songs by just playing random chords and melodies into my piano until I thought it sounded interesting enough. I then recorded the MIDI of the piano playing and just continued tweaking it from there. After that I thought about what instruments I wanted to accompany the track and starting placing notes relevant to the chord progression. From there I tweak the mixing and mastering to the best of my abilities.
I started with the first song "The Past is Best Cherished" (Fun fact, the track was originally called "The Past is Best Forgotten" before I dropped the psychological horror. This is also why the track sounds more ominous compared to the rest). From there I started constructing the other tracks. I didn't really have a linear order for which ones I made first, I just did what I felt like making at the time lol.
After around seven songs into the OST I decided to actually list down how many tracks I was planning on making. Like I stated in the first paragraph, I really wanted this to feel like a complete game from start-to-finish and I thought the best way I could achieve that was by creating a lot of (for the most part) unique tracks that are set to be played for different parts of "Dream Land." After some thinking, I decided on 23 tracks in total (it was supposed to be 24 but I had to scratch one due to time constraints). I also wanted to have motifs that play for a specific place or idea such as a motif for the town themes, one for the sheep related tracks, and one for "Yourself," the main antagonist.
(Last Day)
The last day was here and yet I still procrastinated quite a bit lol. I still had around half of the planned songs left to make so I eventually stopped procrastinating and focused completely on finishing the OST. Because of the time limit (and my procrastination), some of the tracks are just repeats of previous tracks with minor changes (perhaps I shouldn't have planned so many tracks lol). Eventually tho, at around 40 mins left including grace period, I completed all the necessary tracks and published my submission on Youtube and itch.io.
(Conclusion)
Although the process may have been a tedious and somewhat draining at times, I still had a lot of fun creating the tracks and I'm pretty happy with what I was able to do with the time I had. This post ended up being a lot longer than I expected, so I thank you so much for reading!
That's all I have to say really, have an amazing day! :D
"How does it fit the theme?"
"That's how I see it"
I mean, it's hard to argue with that!
On a serious note tho, I like the variety of tracks you have going on here. The creativity and sort of unique charm these tracks have is also greatly appreciated, so nice going on that! I think it would be nice if you also added a short description regarding the game this OST was planned for, but it's not that big of a deal and the tracks are still pretty good nonetheless.
Overall a really creative and interesting OST in general, nice work!
That's all I have to say really, have a great day :D
A pretty decent submission all around, cool work! I also liked the transitions quite a bit, so nice going. The only piece of small critique I have about this project is that it's somewhat "simple" in a sense and it feels like it's kinda just repeating the same melody and chord progression throughout the entire song. Aside from that tho, you've done a nice job with this short and sweet submission!
That's all I have to say, have a wonderful day :D
Thank you for the nice words! In hindsight, it might have been better to go with a more "Quality over Quantity" approach, but I really wanted this to feel like a complete game from start to finish with vastly different areas to explore and themes, so i decided to go with what I did (then again, it's probably still possible to make an OST feel complete with fewer tracks, but I digress ig). Again, thank you for checking out my submission and have a great day!
Some beautifully made tracks and compositions here, I like them a lot! You did a great job communicating the different settings and themes these tracks were made for. I especially love your use of sound effects in "Det Skremmer Meg - FLYKTE" and just how epic the orchestration was in general, but all the songs were really good as well, amazingly done!
Overall just some great compositions! Although it was somewhat short with only three songs, you still managed to capture a wide array of emotions. Amazing work!
That's all I have to say, have a great day :D
A very well done submission that captures the listener with its simple yet beautiful composition, nice! For me, I personally really like the ominous atmosphere from "Where No Bubble Dares To Dwell" which also does a good job explaining the story through music, but all the songs are really good as well!
Overall just some simplistic yet well thought out and beautiful tracks! You also did a good job telling the different themes each song represents in the story.
That's all I have to say really, have a great day!
Some pretty well made tracks with a creative take on the theme, I like it! I especially like your use of motifs which really help to make the songs feel more connected and part of the same game. I like your implementation of live playing such as your trumpet and your friend's clarinet, I think it adds a somewhat human vibe to the tracks and it's a well appreciated addition! I also appreciate you adding your thought process when creating the songs in the description, it's pretty interesting to see someone else's thought process when creating tracks.
Overall some very nice and well made tracks! As I've said I enjoyed your use of motifs and creativity when creating the OST (especially the last song, I like your use of a somewhat uncommon time signature!). You did a great job making these tracks feel part of the same game and I applaud you for that!
If you have some time I'd also appreciate if you could check out my submission as well (only if you want to, tho!).
That's all I have to say really, have a splendid day!
Some really nice and beautiful tracks! I think I can agree with iHoist on this when he described the tracks as short and sweet. A slight critique I have tho, I think it would add to the tracks if they had a somewhat more complete ending, like a fade out or a simple progression of notes. It doesn't really affect the listening experience too much tho, and the tracks are still a very nice listen!
Overall I think you did a great job with these tracks as a whole!
That's all I have to say really, have a great day :D
Now this is something I'd imagine from the theme "Inside My Mind," you did a great job on this! I absolutely love the eerie ambience you decided to go with. I really enjoy eerie tracks and I like my fair share of ambiance, so this was a really nice and refreshing submission to find. I can easily see these tracks be in an indie horror game as well, so plus points for that! I also like your use of sound effects, it really helps immerse the listener into this eerie world of yours.
Overall you did a great job establishing the ominous and creepy vibe of these tracks! I'd love to see more submissions like this in this jam, this was a really interesting take on the theme. Amazing work!
That's all I have to say really, have a wonderful day! :D
Some pretty great tracks that capture the feeling and themes that each track attempts to convey really well! I don't really want to repeat what others have already stated, but I can definitely see some possible improvements in the mixing (although I completely understand because mixing is also my weakness lol). Aside from that minor critique tho, I really like the composition and choice of instruments. You did a great job all around!
Overall just some amazing work in general! You did a great job capturing the different emotions and themes you wanted to go for and I applaud you for that! If I had to choose a favorite track, it'd probably be "Last Stand In A Hopeless Battle," but that's really just because of my love for boss battle themes and orchestral music in general lol.
That's all I have to say really, have a great day!
Thank you so much for the kind words, in depth comment, and for listening to all the tracks! I spent a lot of time on them so I'm really happy to hear that and I'm glad you enjoyed your time. I'll also definitely check out your project when I have the time to as it's also another pretty long one and I've heard good things from it (although it might take me some time to fully listen to it lol). Again, thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it! Have a great day :D
Thank you so much for the feedback! I'll keep in mind your library recommendation. I only really focused on the default plugins in FL Studio as a sort of challenge to myself I suppose (and because I'm too lazy to find one lol), but finding an actual sample library would probably help out a lot. Again, thank you so much for the feedback and have a great day!
Thank you so much for the nice words! I'm so happy you found my submission interesting. While I still think your submission in terms of mixing and composition was a lot more organized and clean than mine, I still appreciate this comment so much! Everyone in this Jam has been so friendly and it's really pushing me to want to learn and improve my music production as a whole, so I'd like to thank you and really everyone who participated in this Jam for being so amazing :D
Again, thank you so much for your kind words and I apologize for unintentionally and metaphorically slapping you in the face xD
Have a great day! :D
