Description
The track is an instrumental made for a fantasy-like game, which tells the story of an aarakocra who flees from his home. I used FL Studio to compose the track after planning a bit on a real piano. The track would serve as the song that would play when the character runs away, and would contain a few scripted dialogue events, the the music would change in time with that.

Message from the artist:
After planning the piece on the piano (a little) I grinded out the song and cover art within about 10 hours overnight haha but seriously I think the best part is the second half when I started losing it

How does it fit the theme?
I was inspired by the phrase "fight or flight", where "flight" is to run away from something. In the game, the main character is running away from his home and the piece's energy and minor key reflects that.

Really nice usage of the flutes (even though if you give that to a real human he would just kill you as its not playable in terms of breath). Like the overall vibe, simple chords, simple melody, the percussions are nice but I would not have put them so close in the mix but a little bit more far away and panned with the base frequency straight in the middle. Even so, is sounds pretty good in general, good job.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah there is more than one flute part, but flute players would still probably want to kill me. A friend of mine plays flute (and I do a little bit) and I've seen some of their etude music.. yeesh.

Oh this is fun! Nice flutes. There's a nice pace here. It feels like it could indeed fit a game well. I can just feel that we're gliding over some landscape.

I quite like the break we get halfway through the song, when you change things up. The mellow section works really well. I really like how harmonized things in that section. This was probably my favourite part of the track, despite also liking the rest.

Very lovely track. I love the fife/pipe. It sounds pretty good. A little bit suggestion, but do not take seriously :) so I think there is a part around 2:40, when too much instruments do their things in the same pitch. If you pitch down some of these like -12 notes (octave) down, it will do the job. A very good arrangement, well composed. Well done. :)

This was a lovely and hopeful track. I really liked the second part where the melodies were developed a bit more and everything came together nicely.

Their were some mixing problems like in the tapping (that I believe you recorded ) felt a bit dry and same for the piano. The oboe also was sometimes a bit strident on the higher notes, but I understand that you didn't have much time for mixing.

Overall, nice job!

Interesting composition! I can see how you put interesting ideas together and it makes a solid music for a stage in a game.

I think some minor polishing on the midi(i.e. oboe notes in legato not overlaying unless you did intended, or some irregular rhythm on piano, add sustain pedal on solo piano section?) would bring up the technical quality of the track.

Good job!

p.s: I would also suggest, as I may be the rare one to be weirdly sensitive, to avoid D# in bass notes(piano) in the last part, as flute plays D natural at the same time and the whole track seems to stay rather constant in E dorian scale. There would be a risk that this semi-tone collision would sound like 'someone played wrong note'. But take this with a grain of salt, I'm the nerd about these stuffs.

Thanks for the feedback! I do need some work on the midi, and I'll look into how to add pedal on the piano (I mostly just play live music, so I'm trying to get into making music via midi).

Regarding your other point I was going for some dissonance with a leading note (though it might not have worked). The new motifs in that section were adapted from an old idea I had for a song like this, and might not have translated well. Thanks again for the tips!

I really liked this one - the stereo panning was a cool touch! The track took me through a number of different 'stages' that I can imagine the game involving. Impressive.
