Description
The fictional game 'Moon Catcher' is about a girl sailing a boat in the sea, trying to catch the reflection of the moon in the water, in order to harness its magic to allow the boat to fly among the stars.

The score was composed using Musescore 4, and mixed (and in some places consolidated with other instruments where the Musescore samples were lacking) in Reaper.

Theme:

Wish upon a star
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
The game theme is heavily based around both aspects of the theme, and the instrumentation (with celesta and piano reflects that).

Night Sail: This theme has a quiet intensity to it that I love. I really like how you take all the woodwind instruments and weave them together as if it's a braid of melodies. My favorite part of this track is after the softer B section when the percussion comes in at about 0:37. This is crazy that these sounds came out of MuseScore! I think the quality is fantastic- which also says a lot about you as both a composer and music producer. This track is my favorite of the three!

Light: I really like that you hinted back at the Night Sail theme, but without any explicit repeats. When the cello takes over the melody, it feels so magical, like walking/sailing through darkness with catching glimpses of glowing light. You do a great job of call and response through the different instruments throughout this piece to weave another thick intertwined melody line.

And Seek: The melody rises in hope while the harmony seems to sink in somber disbelief which I think is interesting emotional storytelling. The last two chords then resolve it which allows it to feel more like the main character’s mind is at ease. These were such awesome and well-written songs. Excellent work and thank you for sharing!

Musescore sounds so good now haha (honestly sounds better than lots of paid VSTs, and for the cheap price of $0). Great orchestration and great quality. Light gives me Hollow Knight vibes (definitely my favorite). And Seek was a satisfying conclusion. Great work!

Yes - it's ridiculous how good it is - the woodwinds are easily better than my Symphony Series Woodwinds VST's, which are £449... Thanks for the feedback - very kind!

Gorgeous arrangements! I like the diversity of instruments, without being overbearing. Hard to pick a favorite. They are all very well finished pieces. Nice job!

Wow, what a remarkable soundtrack!!! I really like how the percussions make the music more lively in an elegant way avoiding any heaviness.  I also love how short motifs are navigating between different instruments, renewing it's presentation each time.

Props to the orchestration as well! I personally didn't had the courage&time to invest this time, but I do understand how much of work it represents.

Thank you for sharing, great work!!

Wow - thank you so much! Very kind feedback, I'm grateful - it was a bit of a hectic few days orchestrating!

Very nice orchestration here :) I've never used muse score, I don't know how it works and I might give it a try given what you could come up with! Nice submission!

Thanks! I would highly recommend giving MS a go since version 4 was released. Immense update that improved it so much from 3.

Very nice :) Reassured I'm not the only one that used musescore 4 XD
Your orchestration is stellar throughout !

Developer

Thanks so much! Absolutely blown away by MuseScore 4 - despite having spent a lot of money on VST's, I think the free selection on MS4 is better than half of them...

Yeah same, with a few fixes it could become very usable in productions which is pretty crazy for free software

Oh my god. When I first saw the theme, this is exactly what came to my mind. The quality sounds great, really impressed by MuseScore 4.  I'm keeping my ears open, but I wouldn't be surprised if this submission earns my highest rating for "Correlation to theme". Good stuff!

Developer(+1)

That's so nice to hear - thank you! Yes, MuseScore 4 really is something else... If not already watched, I'd highly recommend the Tantacrul video on how they made it!

I really like how you made the theme of reflection show through the music. You can really feel the motion of the girl trying to catch the reflection of the moon in the water with the violoncello and violins repeating each other.

Thanks so much, really appreciate the feedback!
