Description
This is the soundtrack for an hypothetical RPG called Aoi's Wish. I used Musescore 4 to compose the tracks. Each song was made by piecing together leitmotivs. Their name in the file I've submitted decribe where there whould be used in game but you can find more info on the sheet music and in the PDF.

Theme:
How does it fit the theme?
In a world filled with danger and uncertainty, a brave young mouse and some friends are looking for adventure to spice up their mundane lives. Armed with only their wits and a fierce determination, players must journey across the mountain, battling fearsome monsters and overcoming treacherous obstacles in order to become heroes.
As the team begin their journey, they come across a wise old man who sets them on a mission. The old man tells the mice of a legend passed down through the ages - a legend of a magical shooting star that grants wishes to those brave enough to chase it.
As the squad travels down the mountain into the depths, they hear louder and louder whispers telling of the shooting star, and they begin to wonder if it might be real. Could this be the answer to their prayers, the key to become special?
They journey deeper into the kingdom and encounter all manner of challenges, from fierce battles with monsters to treacherous puzzles that test their wit and strength. But they do not give up, for they know that their wish upon the star is within reach.
One battle after another, the team becomes smaller and smaller. Each hero dying after the next. They still manage to defeat the three star keepers and Aoi confronts the evil sorcerer who has been keeping the shooting star’s power to themselves. Despite his best efforts, Aoi is no match for the sorcerer's dark magic, and he falls in defeat.
As the protagonist lies on the ground, battered and defeated, the shooting star appears in the sky. With his dying breath, Aoi makes a wish, hoping against hope that it will be granted.
As his last thought he asks to go back, to not have gotten adventurous, to have let his friends lead normal lives without trouble, to die and be forgotten. However, those things cannot be undone and he passes on, his dream of being special forever out of reach. He falls into darkness, the heroes and the legend of the shooting star are all but forgotten.

Sorry, I don’t have tips to offer, but I really enjoyed the music. Seems like it would fit well in those atmospheric/art based games too. Very calming!
Thank you ! That was exactly the feel I was aiming for.
This is really, really good for your first time making music. Really enjoyed this! A nice set of piano/string compositions. Reminiscent of games like Minecraft and Hollow Knight. Hope to see you in the next competition!
Wow, this is one of the best compliments I got ! Thank you !
Title Theme: You have a good sense of having the music push and pull, keeping it in constant motion so it doesn’t feel stagnant. The low piano chords give a sense of solemnity and darkness. Having this as your title theme sets the stage for the tragedy that this story is.
Loading: I think your use of harp is a very calm accompaniment instrument that both supports the flute melody, but also allows the player to take a step back while the game loads.
Player Creation: The viola melody is sweet and longing. This is a really beautiful track.
Hub: This hub sounds rather dark, but if you are a group of mice looking for adventure, the world is probably a pretty dark and scary place! The piano melody is pretty, at the same time maybe could stand to be a little softer?
Hub (Night): The longer bows instead of the fast decaying piano notes feels a little more floaty which works well for a night theme. I think it was an interesting choice to double the melody in both the high and low harp, I wonder what it might sound like with only the high harp playing the melody?
Area 1: The oboe melody and the underlying chords have a contemplative quality that I really like. This is my favorite of all your tracks so far.
Area 1 (Night): Strings and flute are just as calming and contemplative as the day version, and the floatiness from the strings does a good job distinguishing this as the night version.
Enemy: I think this is your best written motif. The addition of the percussion instruments adds some energy to the music which works well for when an enemy approaches.
Enemy (Night): The more subtle version of an enemy approaching makes me think that maybe the enemies are more sly at nighttime.
Level Up: The upward harmonies help convey the sense of achievement and use of the bVI-bVII-I chord progression right at the beginning is the classic video game way of doing this.
Boss 1: Way to take the enemy theme and charge up the intensity with the voices to give a familiar yet new take on this more epic battle theme.
Defeat: This reimagination of the level up theme works really well for the victory theme (though based on your story, I wonder if it’s actually supposed to feel this triumphant?). Good use of French horn to provide heroic sounds.
End: The voices sound really epic in this one! This track has a very cinematic quality to it that would pair very nicely with your story and convey a lot of emotions when hearing and seeing them on the screen.
Game Over: Good job with the leitmotif work here and making it sound more somber and final. Overall, this is a lot of music, especially for your first time doing this sort of thing! Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing!
This was very insightful, thank you for taking the time to review all of the tracks !
What a tragic story, and your composition made it justice, it captures the hopelessness of the journey perfectly. I like how you still get a glimmer of hope and epicness in your last tracks (I'm think of "Ennemy" and the brass section in "Defeat"). It reminded me a lot of the Minecraft OST in your chord progression choices and melodies. This was a really emotional journey and props for making me feel the emotions you were conveying so strongly. Great entry!
Thank you ! I'm glad that I was able to make you feel the emotions like I was aiming for.
Its really impressive that you weren't just able to create a really big soundtrack for the given time, but also put together a story and art for it. Really cool work, especially since this was your first time making music
Thank you, making the art and music fit together was my favorite part of this whole thing !
That's an impressive amount of music for the time we had! I like how each track has its own distinct feel, and how you reuse a main motif throughout. Also nice contrast between daytime and night themes using different instrumentation. You used strings for the nighttime for the most part, which is pleasantly consistent (except in Enemy where it is the other way around). Nice work on the story, too!
Thanks ! The pizzicato / harp sound was the main distinction between day and night theme. Glad you liked the story !
Nice job on your first soundtrack! Loved "End - Final Blow".
Thanks ! The choir made it stand out like I aimed to, really happy you enjoyed it !
Great work putting a story together. The music has a very lonely quality to it... I suppose it is a story of loss. The only thing I wonder is what keeps the player playing, what keeps the listener listening. I didn't notice a hook or tension.
I did appreciate how the songs kept a riff going throughout.
Great work!
Good advice, I'll definitly think more about tension when making music next time !
It's truly impressive how in-depth this game is, and the lore is super interesting as well. Great work!
Thanks ! I work really hard to make a fully fleshed out project !
Your composition style is very pretty, the melancholic tone in all the tracks remind me of minecraft.
Thanks ! When thinking of how the music would play once implemented in game I thought about how minecraft handles it. I'm glad you I could convey a similar feel !
I love how put together this whole pack is, the music, the art and music sheets. Great work
I personally enjoyed the 'End' theme, it's my favorite from this set
Thank you ! Putting an almost ready project was what I was aiming for. Glad you liked that !
Wow, what an impressive amount of work!!!!!! It suits very well to the image and the game you're describing. good job!
Thank you ! I had trouble making the music and story fit at first so I'm glad that they do after many reworks.
This looks really cool.
Thanks ! Really liked your project too.
Nice job! Love the amount of detail and thought you put into this. The story and art you made is great. I also enjoy that you shared the sheet music.
Thanks ! I really liked making each part of what could be an actual game.
