Theme
How does it fit the theme?
Our team felt the picture had a "Studio Ghibli" vibe and so we wrote music based off of the music from SG movie soundtracks.

real!

Ooooh teamwork makes the dreamwork! This is going to be a fun one to listen to while writing, letsgoo!
1. Main Theme: This song does a great job at introducing us to the story and getting us ready for what we're about to experience. My ears really enjoyed the guitar strums xD
2. Footsteps: You all nailed the Joe Hisaishi pianos here of the chords not being played all at one go, but having that slow strummed effect. This felt like a "What if Joe Hisaishi, but modern" with the use of the electric guitars.
3. Bubble Waltz: Immediately after reading the title, I was thinking "this song better be in 3/4", so thank you for that xD This was a refreshing one to listen to after all the 4/4 songs (I'm guilty of this too heh). Very bubbly and creative :]
4. Inside My World: Ooooh yess! Vocals! I really enjoyed the use of various instruments and styles coming together to continue the vibes of water, and then going deeper into the dream vibes.
5. Interlude: This was a great showcase of piano and just giving a break to the listener, whilst also instilling emotions of "but wait, there's more"
6. Mother: Oh dang, those guitars and reverbed percussions were NOSTALGIC. Great use of instruments and space here.
7. Boss Theme: This one reminded me of some Genshin Impact tracks with the synth being filtered into the song. Really enjoyed the mix of styles in this one and the extra energy it added to the overall soundtrack.
Overall, great job to the 3 of you on this, and I really enjoyed listening!
You three have done a great job! Really cute and colorful submission, well done!
And now, it's time for an exciting soundtrack filled with incredible soul and the efforts of the whole team...
The Main Theme is Good... your soundtrack is intriguing from the very first seconds. The only thing I can say is that the abrupt transition to guitar... BEAUTIFUL! (I like percussion, heh)
Footsteps - Heh... I can hear industrial steam pipes (Or I've gone completely crazy, lol). Soothing composition)
Bubble Waltz - Oh... for a second it seemed to me that I was listening to a demo version of a very sad Kurt Cobain song, heh. And... I like these bells in different ears (These are bells, right?). So also these sounds, as if crabs are hunting me (HELP, THERE ARE CRABS HERE!)
Inside My World - So.. is this composition beautiful and... singing? (I give a 100% guarantee that according to the plot of the game it is the singing of fish).
Interlude - Cute, melancholic and... cute)
Mother - This song makes me feel strangely nostalgic (Despite the fact that I'm still too young to feel nostalgic for childhood, lol)
Boss Theme - OH, IT'S TIME FOR THE BOSS! This is a cool, dynamic, moderately fun and BOSSY track! (To this music, I wanted to beat the sand in the sandbox, heh)
Overall, this is a beautiful and full-fledged soundtrack, well suited for the game!
Scott Hsu, Ben Ellery and Allan Tan - Thank you!
This was really lovely to listen to, you all have a very professional sound and brilliant writing, but my favourite piece has to be Footsteps. The vibes were ever so peaceful with these incredible piano chords and those relaxing drums, with those plucked string lines bringing it all together helping to fill that empty space. Across the full soundtrack though, you all do an excellent job with utilizing space to help create a push and pull, and you fill the empty space so well to keep things moving. Good stuff!
Hi team of 3!
Your soundtrack is AMAZING!!!! And the proof of that is that I listened to it TWICE (and I'll come back for more later). Now I need a cozy game with your music!
The Ghibli influence is definitely there but in a different style.
I'm curious about what is the sound that starts at 0:12 in Bubble Waltz
Wonderful OST!!!!
Aw thanks for listening! Those are synth instruments that I picked out from Ableton’s sound library, I searched for sounds that had a bell like quality and landed on those two sounds.
Amazing OST, incredibly complete and not one bad note on that! Awesome job from the team!!
Thanks for listening to the whole thing!
I really liked the choir in "inside my world"
This whole OST is very high quality and well made!
Great Job!
Thanks for listening! Glad you liked the choir!
This is the first work I ran into in the jam that I wanted to comment on.
I feel that, above all else, a soundtrack's job is to be memorable and decorate the game/movie with a whole new emotion or impression. I feel that's what some of the tracks on this set achieved. I would be so glad to open up a game and hear this music in it, I'd know that I'm in for a higher quality adventure.
I almost refuse to believe that you guys got all this done within the limited time!
While all the tracks spoke volumes of the competence behind the artists regarding consistency, composition, and even mastering (my sweet god, someday I'll master a song properly), Scot Hsu in particular seemingly composed all the tracks that called my attention, my favorite being Bubble Waltz, a song that will transport anyone back to Onett and Snowdin. I'm not exaggerating when I say that it's a piece that would have fit well into the soundtracks for Earthbound or Undertale. Of all the tracks I've listen to so far, I will not forget that one.
Aw thank you so much for taking the time to comment! We were going for music that was memorable and I’m happy that we achieved that for you! Earthbound was a favorite JRPG for me growing up, I’m seeing the connection now that you mention it. Glad you liked Bubble Waltz, I used my Ibanez 4 string bass with flatwound strings for that one, you can hear the Red Hot Chili Peppers influence in that piece.
I knew it had something to do with me going to seem them. Very sneaky!
Very well put together and smooth, everything sounded really in keeping with the overall theme and the individual pieces. Loved the vocals too, they were very evocative and added a lot to the overall beauty of the piece.
I really enjoyed it all - lovely stuff!
Thank you for listening and for the feedback!
Nice variety of genres in here and solid orchestration. I enjoyed the Main Theme but when Footsteps kicked in I have to say I was really locked in. This is a gorgeous piece and paced expertly - the subtle addition of layers coming in and out as it progresses is really well done.
Inside My World has some really cool textural and ambient stuff going on, also. Kudos on the vocal patches in this - they sound really good and add this whole other layer on top. Well placed vocals are a rarity in jams like this but this was used really well.
Interlude and Mother are both exquisite - soft, progressive tracks that are easy to get lost in. Playing sounds great in both of them, and I'm going to take this opportunity to also shout out the guitar playing (especially so in Bubble Waltz) as it just sits so perfectly in the mix.
The Boss Theme had me curious before listening - wasn't sure what direction you guys would take with it, but it feels like a great sum-of-the-parts. Bigger orchestration, busier melodies and a nice foreboding drive to it to really sell the tone and fit as boss music.
This is a really solid entry all around and I think you guys did really great work, for real. Surprised this has no comments yet - it absolutely deserves more attention. Keep up the great work, and best of luck. :)
Thank you so much for listening!
