Description
While its really hard to convey a longer story with just two songs, I wanted to use these songs to convey the two main points of the little story I came up with for this, so I'll give a little explanation for each track:

STUCK IN TIME - (Menu Theme)
This is the song that I would have establish our protagonist, a nice more relaxing but distinctly hollow instrumentation that starts to plant the seeds of the nature of this character, who is incredibly lonely and struggles to break out of their bubble (this song was pretty directly inspired by the inspo pic). They are happy in their little place of solitude, but the sense of lonelyness and not being enough slowly becomes more and more apparent, which is when we meet them as it finally starts to reach a tipping point where they set out on a quest to try and find a greater purpose in life. This song is supposed to embody the naivete of this character at the start of the story, a lot more visibly "happy" and doesn't fully grasp the changes in their life that have to happen to get them out of this.

THE EARTH CAN'T HOLD ME - (Final Area)

Playing more towards the emotional climax of the game, this would be the song that plays as the protagonist reaches her final destination, as in her fight to escape her loneliness she has unintentionally pushed everything away, and physically pushed herself to the furthest reaches of the earth, with the swell at 2:00 representing the steps beyond the earth's atmosphere, the danger and unknown that comes with being in space. Shes not only mentally lost and struggling, but physically lost and in danger by nature of being alone, in space, just with the thoughts that have tormented her throughout the story. Nothing about this final area is safe, nothing about it is comfortable, nothing about the protagonists' mental state is comfortable. The worst memories are on loop, the worst thoughts, and running to space hasn't fixed them. The song gets darker and more muddled as the dangers get faced head on (i kind of envision this as a pixel platformer jumping between space debris with the earth sitting in the background), before finally slowing down as the protagonist finally starts to grasp what she has to do as the looping repetitive thoughts finally start to slow down.

This was all made on Ableton Live!!

Feedback is very appreciated! I've never done something like this before and would love to understand what people think of my music!

Theme

Inside my world
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
I chose to embrace the theme "inside my world" especially from the side of being stuck inside ones head, allowing "The Earth Can't Hold Me" to provide a more stark contrast to the more happy feel of "Stuck in Time" which plays off of the more relaxed feeling of the picture theme. I wanted to show both the good and the bad of being stuck in your own little world, and how that (in this story) the bad ultimately turns ugly as the protagonist's world essentially falls apart around her.

nice chords! Especially the last little bit of stuck in time. The earth can’t hold me did a really nice job of building over 8 minutes. Slow enough that it would feel really natural to progress through a level with that song playing in the background. Really nice job!

This was wonderful. Floaty and light and super nostalgic :D

This is such a well done submission, amazing work! Each track has some really nice emotional sentiment if that makes any sense. Funny enough I was caught of guard by the length of the second song lol, but I still managed to finish it. You did an amazing job conveying such a wide array of emotions with these tracks and I find it pretty impressive how long u managed to make the second track. Idk why but the first track kinda reminds me of Undertale for some reason lol. I guess that just speaks to how well made they are. Some really amazing work all around!

That's all I have to say, have a great day and good luck on the ratings! :D

(P.S. I also really like the ending of "Stuck in Time"!)

Love it! It really tickles my brain in such a good way. Love your choice to use a clean sounding electric guitar with the synth sounds in first track, it works so well! And yesss on the other reviewer mentioning C418. Before I even read their review, I immediately thought of mice of venus with the ending of the first track. And really cool atmosphere and vibe that you set with the second track. This was so good, awesome job!

this is catchy! I love the chords in the outro of the first piece

Your submission has been one of the few I've listened to that instantly transported me. The tracks are reminiscent of C418, and could easily fit into the liminal atmosphere of games like Minecraft. Extremely nostalgic for me personally as someone that was a kid when that game came out. Bravo!

Thank you so much!!!! C418 is incredibly nostalgic to me as well, and is still a staple of what i listen to haha

Beautiful work on the tracks. I felt immersed in the pleasant but looming soundscape in "The Earth Can't Hold Me". Stuck in time was  a well-balanced contrast to the former. Great job!

You have combined the ambient and ‘retro’ soundworlds really effectively. There are some lovely ideas here, with a great sense of release as the second track develops. Both tracks are also really well paced. Don’t be afraid to build the intensity even further in your tracks just to add add even more to the shape you’ve created. Impressive work :)

Lovely tracks, both are quite different but equally impressive. You did an outstanding job :)

Thank you so much <3

I thought I left a comment here but apparently I didn't so here it is. I love your tracks, they're so beautiful and paint a really good imagery of the story you wrote. Amazing work!!

Really really great! I especially love the melody in the first track, it really hooks me in <3 And the sound design in on point also: the combination of instruments and the subtle arp in the background! I'm not a huge fan of the hi-hat in the second track, but thats just personal prefrence though!

Amazing soundtrack!!

The earth can't hold me is my favorite of the two. Especially after the 6:00 minute mark. I love it ^_^

Stuck in Time - My favorite track of the two - I definitely hear some Celeste and Undertale in this! Awesome expression in that lead synth, especially when you slow the vibrato towards the end. The arps are especially beautiful. In the intro, there is some interesting detail going on with the effects, low in the mix. I can tell this is going to be an emotional journey.

The Earth Can’t Hold Me - This was epic! Nice harmonies, bold panning choices. Based on your story, the way I see this track being implemented in a game is in vertical layers, where each layer fades in as the character walks closer to the end. So I think the drums and choir at 3:22 could each fade in separately, as well as the guitar at 4:02. The mix is somewhat overwhelming at times - maybe some tracks could be balanced better or EQ/filtered, like a high-pass filter on the panning synth. Good job with the key changes - these really complete the narrative arc!

Overall, the composition and production are emotional, dynamic, and creative. You have a very strong grasp of narrative writing, throughout the soundtrack and in each individual track. I also wonder what the rest of the soundtrack could sound like - perhaps with some lighter, neutral emotions to contrast these important story beats? Great work here!

The buildup through The Earth Can't Hold Me had me like  :O That was really well done!

I'm also a sucker for that portamento, vibrato, square wave lead sound in Stuck in Time. How dare you play towards my biases and target me specifically smh.

I loved this submission!

The tracks match well with the space adventure theme... I love it <3

keep going \(*Q*)/

That was so chill and ambient yet uplifting and creative all in one. I'd like more tracks. Thank you kindly :)

no thank youuuu

love the way you tied these into the theme, and i was especially captivated by the guitar in the first track — absolutely gorgeous!

The Earth Can't Hold Me is an excellent track, suits the theme very well. Congrats!

I really enjoyed the blend between the acoustic and electronic elements of these tracks. I especially liked the turnaround in "The Earth Can't Hold Me" around the halfway mark where everything opens up and the guitar is added.

A wonderful ambient take on the theme - Well done!

Keep up the good work :)

I really like "The Earth Can't Hold Me". The use of panning sounds and the way that several streams of music start to converge into the inner cacaphony of this person's mind is very good. I really liked the entries that reached into the psychological, and this one does the same!

Nice!
