Description
I imagine this is for a game about a kid who has his dreams invaded by a nightmare and he has to fight them off, but nothing too scary! Kinda like a cool metroidvania deal but not ass hardcore.

Message from the artist
I deeply regret not knowing about this jam until (effectively) the last minute. I'm pretty happy with what I made though.

I LOVE THIS STYLE

He's both crazy, stylish, handsome and impressive...

the final boss was wah! Cool!

... in general, I think it's clear that I liked it, heh)

Very unique sound out of the gate - Opening explores a couple of different moods I think. The choice of synth patches at the beginning was interesting and rather textural at points. The change of pace and introduction of percussion for the final stretch was a nice touch.

Stage Select sounds rather ominous! Descending melodies always tend to have this effect, but the choice of voicings helps sell this, also. Seems like it is set up to loop without issue so that's a plus!

The Pause Screen melody is kind of haunting in its own right - pensive and awaiting continuation. I can't remember a ton of games having pause music specifically but this is a neat idea and it is executed well.

Final Boss has a great set-up - the choir from the get go does a great job of setting the stage for what's to come. Nice choice of melodies and waves for carrying the main theme itself, and I'm going to take this opportunity to say kudos on the percussion - nice and frantic but keeping the core rhythm going to bolster the rest of the track. I think this track is my favorite of the set, personally.

All in all, good work! Some neat chiptunes here, I can see them being put to use in a variety of games. Nicely done!

The final boss is jumping, love it! Great job!

Feels just like a really cool classic 16-bit game from back in the day. Really good work, especially if you only had a couple of days to do it. That's awesome, well done!

The parts with drums in the first and last tracks work really well!

Nice work!

Final Boss is so cool! The OST is really solid overall, great job!

this goes so hard, you did really well with building the tension throughout!

You went absolutely NUTS in "Final Boss". Loved the energy throughout the soundtrack! I presume the keys were played by the hot dogs? 10/10

The final boss theme was really fun to listen to especialy when the notes get all crazy in the middle.

Opening picks up really nicely towards the end to create some hype!

Stage select is short, sweet and to the point. Cool retro synth vibe here.

Pause screen does a nice job of relating back to the overall "dreaminess" of your established theme.

As a self-proclaimed connoisseur of boss and final boss themes, nice work here. The chord progression at the beginning sets the stage well before jumping into the drums.  The bassline at around 1:08 in clashing with the tone of your main synth - try adding some more oscillation or modulation on that synth to avoid that in the future, if you were trying to create tension there. I would have also loved to hear some more fills or variations in the drums here. The established rhythm is perfect, but you can create a lot more power and excitement as the song progresses and avoid anything getting stale. [Apologies if you already knew all this and just didn't have time to get there!]

Excellent work for a last minute effort! If you are interested in doing it again,  join the discord so you can get a notification for the next one! (I had so much fun last year I took a vacation for this one lmao)

Overall, the biggest complaint I have is never learning why there was a pack of hot dogs on the keyboard. This will probably haunt me to my grave

Thank you for your kind words! I just couldn't decide what I wanted for key art and my friend sent me that photo, so I touched it up and rolled with it

The first track almost felt Stardew-like until it ramped up - super cool evolution of sound. And then the third track felt (to me) sort of like a cross between Hollow Knight and Undertale. And then I loved the... I'm not sure how else to describe it other than the super fast moving part at about 0:48 of the fourth track. Great work in suck little time!
