Description
This is an ambient/electronic/orchestral soundtrack. The game is a short narrative story about a little girl seeking her mother and going on an adventure.

## Game Story Summary

A small child named Mimi wakes up in a strange world of bubbles and peculiar creatures. All around her are indigo skies, and she appears to be floating. Just in front of her, a familiar looking bubble appears—-which she then recognizes is in the form of her mother. Mimi calls out to her but her mother starts to drift away. Mimi tries to chase after her, but is ultimately left behind.

While she feels lonely without her mother, Mimi feels okay for the time being, as she finds the world she is in odd, but somewhat comforting.

### Track 1 - “Dream World”

This illustrates the opening world, where the player is tasked with collecting enough glowing fish (depicted in cover art) to help carry her to the 2nd level, with the goal of getting closer to her mother.

### Track 2 - “The Great Whale”

After the player collects the fish, the player (as Mimi) throws them up into the air. The fish start to swim together and swarm into a ball. Eventually, the school of smaller fish takes the form of a large flowing whale

### Track 3 - “Path of Stars”

The leftover light from the formation of the whale illuminates a long path of stars. Mimi (the player) holds on to the fin of the whale and must steer the floating whale, swimming in space through obstacles to reach the end of the path.

### Track 4 - “Upon Entering the Abyss”

Towards the end of the path, the indigo skies around her begin to turn dark. The world around her seems to fade to darkness and the whale begins to dissipate as well. The player now cannot see anything outside of a small circle of light that seems to surround Mimi, the source being a single small glowing fish. This fish remains after the large whale disintegrates upon entering the darkness.

### Track 5 - “Maze of the Abyss”

Gravity now pulls Mimi down to a solid surface where she stands. In the distance, she can hear her mother calling her. This sparks a feeling of longing. Alone, and in the dark, she sits down and begins to weep. All of a sudden, the small glowing fish companion next to her begins to circle in place. It glows brighter and brighter until it releases a burst of light in all directions, briefly illuminating their surroundings.

The player can now see Mimi faced with a maze. However, the light is only temporary as the light immediately starts to fade back to darkness. The light also reveals to the player that some sections of the floor only exist when there is light, and others when there is darkness. Her fish companion can shine light after a charge-up time until it releases light in the form of temporary bursts.

The player will need to navigate through the maze and collect enough fallen star pieces scattered throughout the maze to permanently restore the light.

### Track 6 - “Light Again”

After collecting all of the fallen star pieces, the pieces begin to pull toward each other and create one large star, which illuminates the entire room. The star moves away from Mimi, and as she follows it, she hears her mother calling again, her surroundings appearing brighter and brighter until the room eventually turns white.

### Track 7 - “Awake”

Mimi opens her eyes, and finds herself in a hospital bed. To her left, she sees her mother — in human form — crying next to her, holding her hand. She had been in a coma for weeks, and she finally found her way out of the little world her mind created during her long slumber.

Theme

Inside my world
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
It utilized elements from the picture, such as the woman bubble figure, the yellow fish that become the great whale, the general soundscape, and the nostalgic child=like tone of the music.

ok but what happened to our whale/fish friend???

Lovely journey from start to finish, I loved the shift in tone as the little girl entered the abyss and then navigated her way back into the light. A complete OST that does a great job of telling the story you described. Excellent work!

Hello! The fish is always with her as she created the world :} , it was the key to bringing her back to reality, which ultimately turned into the bridge at the end. Thank you for listening!

Magical and... creepy? Maze Of The Abyss made me a little scared, huh) Good job!

I really enjoy this! I love the subtle nature of the compositions and really like the aural cohesiveness. This is really solid work. Well done!

Great ambiences that capture a dream-like world. I would have imagined a less bright track for "Maze of the abyss".

Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! The idea is that maze of the abyss isn't as dark because the darkness in the abyss is "interrupted" by the light coming from the fish in the story

I see!

I really enjoyed listening to your pieces! I love the vibe you created :)

This was really nice, I especially liked the continuation of that background idea  between maze of abyss and light again! This was very relaxing and i enjoyed it a lot.

Love the atmosphere! Very creative submission

You created a very detailed story accompanied by creative and atmospherically appropriate music. I really like the choice of intruments you made. "Upon Entering The Abyss" captures the mystery of going into such a deep, dark place perfectly well and seems like a great way to connect the rather positive mood in the first few tracks to the compositions coming afterwards in which it all sounds more mysterious as it progresses. Overall an amazing submission and actually now one of my favourite soundtracks here. :)

Amazing work on the soundesign, the layering and the panning. I really was underwater for 12 minutes, in a pleasant journey. Loved it, really not much to say, no critics or anything, just, great job !

Great work on the texture and I loved Awake!! Super good submission!

Sounds exacly as your described. We can also feel the "watery" vibe or what ever we imagine is the representation of water. I like that you reuse the bassy pad motif on multple tracks. Some tracks like Light Again are really focused in the mid-low end of the spectrum, I get that it gives an "underwater" feeling but I would've like a little more high-end to finally balance the journey since its basically the end track and you even say in your description "appearing brighter and brighter until the room eventually turns white." So I think getting some brightness in there would enhance ALOT your album. Well done !

I liked that you used a lot of tuned percussion it felt very watery.

Absolutely amazing story!! This has one of my favorite soundtracks I've heard(even competing against professional composers). The music sounds ethereal and dreamy to match the story. I would've love to hear more of 'Upon Entering the Abyss' aand 'Awake'. The music was beautiful, everything flowed together really nicely. Amazing job!!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! after the jam I’ll try expanding on those soundtracks so it has a bit more to them.

Day 5 Of Rating Submissions With Few Ratings to Hopefully Get Some In Return

Something I really like about your submission is how you chose to score small, but highly specific moments in the story. Despite the relatively short length, you do get a relatively legible narrative arc that way. Well done!

Thank you for the feedback!

One of the only entries I have listened to that really had a great story to tell from start to finish. Every song was easy to listen following the one before it. I think we had really similar ideas on the theme here, as well! Nothing is missing from this work. Great Job!

Developer

Aww thank you! Now that I read over after reading your comments I realized there are a bunch of spelling mistakes I need to fix haha. Yes, I thought there was a bit more to the theme after a friend pointed out the woman bubble figure, which deeply impacted my take on it.

I really liked the choice of instruments you used and how you mixed them. All the sounds wich evoke that aquatic atmosphere are spot on. It's a super immersive OST!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Glad it came across and appreciate the feedback

I really like the flow of this entry. It starts nice and calm, then you get Upon Entering the Abyss, and the next two tracks are just awesome. They pick up the pace, you can feel the story's climaxing. Then Light Again wraps up the whole thing. Loved the piano on that one. Nice entry!

Developer

Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed!

Is that granular synthesis I hear? Your soundtrack flows well and is unified by the unique soundscape you've created. And that's also what helps Awake sound so refreshing, reminding me of Minecraft. Overall, high creativity and correlation to the theme. Awesome work!

Developer

Yes, it's granular synthesis! I'm glad Awake sounded refreshing, I was thinking switching to purely acoustic instruments in the last track would really drive home that the character is now in reality!

Some great effects here. “Upon Entering the Abyss" really feels like descending into a dark hole. Very chill and magical  soundtrack throughout, should work really well for a slower paced game!

Developer

Thank you, glad that descending aspect came across!
