having a family 48 hours proved to be a really tight deadline, but it's been fun rushing through the composition

Totally feels like a chase scene, I can see it happening just through the music. Great stuff!

I love how the track drives you forward, the composition fits your description. The breaks in the middle are really cool, your main ostinato/lead works really well with the progression there. And also in other parts, too. It's memorable.

And congratulations on finishing the track with a family around! I feel you, it's not easy :)

Wow, this track really had a lot of places to go! I liked the clear differentiation between the sections, thanks to the instrument and rhythm changes.

I love how the track progressed throughout! It kept it interesting, especially for a 6 minute song. I agree with some other comments, your mix could’ve used some balancing but otherwise it was great!

Creating almost 6 minutes of music in a weekend is pretty cool, it’s great that you took the time to make music, even with family stuff going on, cause the track has lots of leads and interesting little things going on!

Thanks, I'm usually very slow at writing music, starting with one or two ideas, mixing and altering them only to start again with a variation, and in the end discarding most of what I wrote; this time pretty much every single idea I wrote ended in the final piece.

It's been a superstressing but also quite fun experience

Yeah, I’ve never written music on a deadline before, I think - it’s a whole different experience!

Yeah I'm definitely getting the chase feel! At some points there are sounds that take me back to the old Road Rash games. The main melody is really pleasant to listen to; it contrasts nicely with the more abrasive elements. Honestly it's the kind of melody I want stuck in my head. I second some of the comments about mixing. Also I know this is subjective but the extreme ping-pong panning about 2 minutes in was a bit much for me.

Developer

Thanks!

The panning was intended to be a bit disorienting, but maybe I went too far; I think I'll tone it down in a future revision, after the jam.

Cool dark vibes, love the ostinato in the beginning though I agree that it should have been a little quieter. Loving the dark chord choices and crunchy synths. Nice work!

I feel you on the deadline stuff as well!

Cool track. Definitely getting a chase feel from this. I wish that fifth bass lead was pushed a bit more to the foreground. It's good. It fits really well. Don't be afraid to push it a bit more to the front. Now it's overshadowed a bit by the plucky koto(?) sound.

Just got to the guitar bit. Cool. I like it. It's a nice melody. Cool bridge to the next section. I feel that now things are ramping up. Maybe we're beginning to catch up, or whoever is chasing us is catching up to us.

Ah nice, now we go back to the melody from earlier. Feels like a bit like coming home after the middle section, nice!

If I would have one small advice, it'd be to quiet down the toko a tiny bit in the first and third section, which would allow you to make the rest a little louder in those sections. That said, still a cool track!

Nice work! And yeah I feel ya, it's quite a challenge getting things done in such a short time frame.

Thanks!

I wanted the shamisen to sound a bit like a siren, but I may have made it too loud, obscuring everything else; I usually review my music after a couple of days to fix this kind of things, maybe I'll rework the mixing after the jam.

Submitted

Ah, it was a shamisen. I misidentified it. Thanks for clearing that up.

If you do end up doing a second mix of this, I'd like to listen to it again :)

I like those chinatown bells throughout. Neat contrast with the other synths!
