Message from the artist
The music was created while trying to set a mood close to Alan Wake 1.

The first & third part are meant to play when the player is in the forest at night, not knowing what could be hiding in the dark. The second part is what the player can hear when he's in danger and must return to a safer place (but not so safe), going back to part A.

It's composed of multiple palindrome.

Each section can be divided in two, the second one being the palindrome on the first one.

The whole song can be divided in two. At about 1:03, the same notes are played but backward giving a form of AA'B B'A'A.

Difficulty

B (Hard)

Make a piece that has the same musical notes both forwards and backwards but doesn’t have to be an identical recording.

Nice job building up suspense with the strings and piano intro. Did not hear any reversed patterns, but sometimes they are hard to identify. Could definitely see this in some dark story based game. Great work!

Developer

Thank you!
I did use the same notes forward and backward, but I didn't necessary used the same rythm to keep it a bit fresh.

I don't have much to say honestly it was just a very pretty and well made track!

Beautiful soundscaping, especially the first part, it really sets the tone of the piece! The transition to the second part really makes you feel like something is coming. Great job!

Thank you so much!

Definitely the most legit and cinematic-sounding orchestration in this jam, I was not expecting guitars in this and was pleasantly surprised!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much!
It's my first jam and when I listened to the other submission I was thinking how original they were compared to my cinematic music. I'm glad you liked it! Well, except... there's no guitar in it :D

It's a slightly processed harp. I did a track kind of similar in tone to this one not so long ago where I used a synth which had some electric guitarish kind of sound, but I didn't want to redo the same thing for the jam.

Oh wow, the harp is kind of genius, I think it fits very well. I wouldn't call your track unoriginal since a good cinematic song could be just as original as any other track, which I think yours succeeds at!

This makes me imagine being followed by a headless horseman in the misty woods of sleepy hollow. I like  the orchestration and anticipation you set with the beginning. Great atmosphere. Great work.

Thank you! I'm glad I nailed the atmosphere and you liked it.
