  • I found the game unintuitive on what connecting mushrooms does, and how to gain mushroom power for awhile. The theme was on point with the mushroom spreading, and its clever when you figure it out.

Did you include your Game Design Document in your downloadable files?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
You play as a living mushroom whose goal is to spread its mycelium network in order to grow stronger and defeat the endless, increasingly difficult waves of enemies

Use W A S D for movement
"Space" to put down mycelium on the floor
"Shift" to sprint
"Escape" key to pause the game.

While not sprinting, you emit a constant aura of poison which damages any enemies that come close to you.

Use your Mushroom power to place mycelium on the floor and spread your network to the nearby giant mushroom to grow stronger.

Putting down mycelium will consume your Mushroom Power, which can be replenished by defeating enemies on top of mycelium. Enemies defeated on top of mycelium will decay and grow into small mushroom which can be collected to gain Musroom Power.

Have fun! =)

Did you remember to include your Game Design Document?
Yes

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes

Extra Notes
This was a great learning experience, thank you for organizing this!

I started learning Godot a week before the Game jam started without any prior experience in game development,

I tried to focus on learning a bunch of different functionalities while trying to build a fun little game.

PS: Sorry for not having sound/music!!

That was super fun, I love the mechanics and would love to see more from this game. I wish there was some way to heal. if there were more abilities and enemies I would definitely being playing this game for hours! Amazing job, keep it up!!

Mushrooms are one of my favorite foods so you had me with the theme from the start. Really great job, it feels really good for only 2 weeks of development.

Very nice idea, could easily be expanded on for a full experience. I really enjoyed trying to find the shortest path to the next mushroom!

such a nice take on the vampire survivors genre. connecting the mushrooms really made this game I only missed the lack of buffs or debuffs after a while, but for a game made in two weeks it's great fun. if you could add some variability to the gameplay I would legit play it heaps. congrats!

Thank you for the feedback!

And you are absolutly right on the buffs - My initial plan was that when connecting a mushroom, you would get to choose a buff (Either boosting the player, the mycelium or the core mushroom).

Thanks for taking the time to play, It means the world to me :)

Nice idea.....took me a while to work out how to grow.......... Gamepad and changeable controls are cool too.

You can definitely grow this game idea....

Developer(+1)

Yeah the control are not the most intuitive at the moment.

Thanks for the feedback and taking the time to try it out!

This is a really interesting proof of concept! I think the base mechanics are solid. As for feedback: I think when you connect to a mushroom it should grow a larger patch of mycelium underneath it like the starting one has, to reward you for doing so. And a full game like this could probably benefit from a "vampire suvivors-like" items/upgrade system to your basic weapon, movement speed, etc.
Overall, very cool entry!

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

I completly agree with your comments. A visual indicator of some kind would be really good when connecting a mushroom. I do have a counter below the mushroom power bar, but its very hard to see.

I had planned for "vampire suvivors-like" upgrade system, which I included in the GDD, but I didn't have time to complete that.

Small patch:

Made the main mushroom a different color and made it easier to connect to other mushrooms.

Enjoy!
