  • Enjoyed the cleverness of the spells and simple but effective use of light. Good little game that would be elevated by consolidating the puzzles a little more so there is more direct feedback on screen rather than having to run around as much. Overall solid entry.

Tell us about your game!
This is a short puzzle adventure game where you must stay in the shadows. You have one spell to cast, although the spell can be changed by hitting various crystals throughout the game. Each crystal color performs a unique action and you must solve several short puzzles using the crystals in unique ways. The game culminates with a face-off against the enemy of shadows everywhere.

Extra Notes
This is a solo dev project. Everything EXCEPT the music was created by me during this game jam. I've had a number of incomplete projects in the past, but this is the first game I have release with any level of actual polish. I can't wait to participate in more Game Jams in the future!

Beat it!

Very well made overall, I liked the variety of spells (summoning rocks to block light was especially cool), good amount of content. Right when I thought the demo was going to end, a entire boss battle started instead :)

It's well polished too, most games I tried (including mine :P) have a few annoying issues that didn't get fixed in time but I didn't notice any here.

Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

This was a fun game, and a very solid experience! I Don't see any major flaws, the mechanics and level design fit together very naturally. The only moment when I thought something should be changed was when I read the intro text, and it automatically skipped after a few seconds instead of waiting for the player's inputs. This was not an issue for me since the text gave plenty of time, but some players taking a while to read or not paying attention immediately is still worth taking into account. Great game!

Developer

I appreciate the feedback! I'll definitely be rework the intro text in future versions so it doesn't just leave the player behind. Thanks!

This was pretty cool, I liked the puzzle mechanics and having them all bound to right click made them pretty intuitive. Wasn't expecting the boss battle but I thought the mechanic was quite good, overall a nice experience :)

Wow, such a good game. The mechanics are simple & satisfying, the boss was fun, holy cow how did you make this in 2 weeks by yourself??

As a fellow solo dev you should be super proud. It feels really polished.

The only suggestion  is that the enemies (besides the boss) are super non-threatening since you can spam attack. If you continue working on this (hope you do!) maybe introduce a cooldown on attack or just a different enemy type... I dunno but great job!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, it was started and finished in two weeks :). I think part of it was, I forced myself to only implement this things that I initially planned (which is historically really hard for me to do)! I actually more or less had enough time work on polishing for the last few days.

As far as the enemies go, that's actually one of the first things on my list of things to improve. I even debated taking them out entirely, but I decided they add something to the gameplay, even if they are too easy right now. Definitely a proper cooldown too.

How come this game has so little review? it's enjoyable, run well and has clever mechanics, you need to promote your game more !

I just wished weren't just there so you have something to  do with the puzzle, but it's a little thing.

It's a very good  entry, please be proud of your work !

Developer(+1)

I appreciate it! It was a lot of fun to make. I was actually going to promote it yesterday evening, then my internet was out for hours...SHM. I'm glad you enjoyed it, though

Awesome work! I beat the game and enjoyed it. Its a short little game but still so satisfying. More levels, more polishing, a bit more content and I think you have a really solid game that can be given out to the masses. Special thanks for forgiving death system. Instead of teleporting somewhere or restarting the level you allow players to keep playing from the same spot (Unlike in our game 😅). I don't want to highlight each of the crystals but I will say that all of their abilities are cool from idea perspective and well executed, loved them. Boss fight was a nice surprise 🔥

I do have a few points for further improvements:
1. There needs to be a feedback on collision. I had a strong feeling I'm not hitting anything if I didn't hit the center of enemies (even if the hit did register). Maybe you didn't have enough time for that but thats the most important note on this list (from my POV). Possibly destroy the "bullet" on collision (If you intention is not for it to hit more enemies) ?

2. Thank you very much for not putting such a big speed on intro but I mention it on all games I play - Some are slow readers like me and I would really appreciate if you would have a button "Next" or "Continue" to allow me to continue the game after I'm done reading on my own pace. Yes, this is super subjective and a preferential thing, but people like me would be grateful :)

I appreciate the feedback! I'm planning to work on it a bit more just to round it out after the judging period. Enemy attack feedback is definitely on the list. Also more enemies in general. I'll also work on the text intro a bit. Admittedly that was sort of hacked together on the last night before the submission😅

Great game. Got stuck on the 2 green crystals platform because of the distance teleport (couldn't hit it again once on the platform).  Boss fight was fun. Light mechanics were cool as well.
